I need help with him. Ive read from other posts on how to just isolate him. So I dont have to deal with those 2 trolls. But, When I get him alone. Im barely doing any damage to him. But hes wiping out my whole party. Ive tried hasting and protections still he wipes em out.

Refresh my memory. Who is TorGal?

King Troll in de'arnise keep(Nalia's Quest.)

I don't know what other advice you've gotten, but what has always worked for me is to summon creatures to get up close and personal with Torgal & his buddies, while your party peppers them with spells and missiles. As the summoned creatures get killed, summon more to replace them.

If you've found any Darts of Wounding, try using them on Torgal; poison damage can kill trolls (I once took him out very quickly this way when he failed his save).

Good luck!

Ah, TorGal. He regenerates at an alarming rate. My own tactic was to use a scout to inch forward and lead torGal out of his room - and then surround and kill him. But you have to do a tremendous amount of damage in a very short time to take him out... if you have anyone with the Haste spell, now is an excellent time to use it. Make sure every member of the party is doing something to damage him and, eventually, you'll take him out - or he'll win.

If you can Hold him, that's worth a try too.

It was sooooo long ago, I don't remember. I think you got some good advice up above. I don't remember any particular difficulties with the trolls in D'Arnise.

Its easy. Don't go and talk with him right away, just edge into the room. Equip Yoshimo with some Flame Arrows and let him wait while you cast Entangle on the area followed by Cloudkill. Next chuck a few Fireballs in until one of the Giant Tolls or Torgal makes an appearance. From there hack and slash your way to victory!

hailitho 05-12-2001 11:18 PM

I still havent killed him, Ill keep trying though... I cant kill the golems either.

hailitho 05-12-2001 11:59 PM

Im never going to kill him. .. he resists my hold and tangles. My fireballs just kill me and not him... BAH

hailitho 05-13-2001 12:20 AM

spending 4hrs on one fight is not my idea of fun. this is bs.

LightBlade 05-13-2001 12:41 AM

No one said it was easy... heck, i just finished the game like 15 mins ago... i had 2 chars wiped out. but then once i changed to slayer. it was smooth sailing.

Pennance 05-13-2001 12:44 AM

The key is not to actually look at the Trool, or not let him into your sight. What you have to do is not even get off of the raised platform when you cast Entangle and/or Stinking Cloud. Then fire the fireballs/cloudkills right at the edge of the darkness. Get the pre-emptive strike. Also try the Priest fire spells and Melf's Acid Arrows.

here is a handy little trick i picked up on my third attemp to start a game. dont do the nalia's keep first. it isnt required. you can do lots of other ones first. build up levels.
the torgal problem is the reason i first found ironworks . doing searches for help with that part.

Dont divide your attacks between the trolls. Concrentrate everything on one troll at time then move on to the next otherwise they will keep regenerating and you will triple the difficulty of the battle.

Epona 05-13-2001 03:56 AM

I have never fired wands or spells into the 'fog of war' for this battle.

My tactic is:
1. Cast Haste, Bless, Chant and any stoneskin spells available on my party
2. Edge forward with a character in stealth mode and lure Torgal out by himself
3. Have my best fighter (equipped with health potions) engage him in melee combat while the others use their best missiles/arrows/bolts or acid & fire arrow spells.
This way I don't have many problems and I ALWAYS do this quest straight after coming out of Irenicus' dungeon (at least as soon as I have picked up some NPCs!).

Caleb is right, the most important tactic is to concentrate on 1 enemy at a time as the regeneration rate is astounding.
The other important point is to use the Haste spell - it speeds up your attacks and this is really the only sure way of beating Torgal's regeneration if you engage him in straight combat.

Good luck! It can be done at any level, if one strategy doesn't work, try something different!

I don´t know what all the fuzz is about, i just had Yoshimo lay some traps, summoned some creatures and then lured them into my death trap.
