I really hate loosing experience and 1 Dex to that stupid demon.
I also want to remain on lawful good.
I don't know if the following works:

1/ Get a fire elemental summoned beyond the first gate and go and kill the demon.
2/ Chuck everyone else rush in and kill the random normal person, but I won't be lawful good.


...any other suggestions.


P.S. Is anyone still playing BG2 the 1st time?

i just did that same thing only 2 or 3 hours ago. i just gave in to the dark side pesonnally but if you want to be a cheater then i can't help.

You could try having your companion die, and then resurrecting him. Not that I was so craven, o'course.

For the Test of Selflessness, make sure you enable cheat, then after the demon take a random party member or peasant (if you solo), move your mouse cursor to the end of the map where the demon is standing, and hit [ctrl] + [J] with only your character selected. Once you are in the area where the demon and the hostage is, talk to the demon, the hostage lives and you get your Bhaal's Tear. When you leave that room, select your character and the NPC (if not soloing) and move the mouse cursor back to the entrance/exit of the area and hit [ctrl] + [J] again, there...no penalties taken and mission accomplished....

I think the designers are trying to balance out the attributes of people that used the tomes in bg1 but its sucks for me cause I never played it and losing 1 point of dexterity usually makes you lose a armor class point too. I said ■■■■ that and shadow keepered my dexterity back.

Hey! No Cheating was the whole idea of this post!
You can avoid it buy:
Summon powerful Monsters from this side of the door to the other, effectively teleporting and slay the demon!

Or get minsc to drink couple potions of regeneration!!!!!!!
He won't die!
Or Aeie with chain contingency and healiing spells.

BTW....you CANNOT kill the demon. And if you are saying let Minsc drink a potion of regeneration or Aerie with Chain Contingency (which I don't think either one will work either, and each time the demon randomly choose a party member), then how are you maintaining a Lawful Good alignment?

Can't kill the demon? why not?

cause they force you to make a choice between the 2 doors and if you reach him legitly he never gives you a chance to attack.

If you don't believe me that you CANNOT kill the demon, place your cursor on it and [ctrl] + [Y] it, you'll see what I mean. Or you can force attack it. If you DO manage to kill it (which I doubt it), either your game is bugged or my game is bugged.

no you can kill the demon if you do ctrlq over him use shadow kepper so he get 1000mines and he dies

But I am talking about in-game, ie. no outside utilities.

Can't you summon a fire elemental just beyond the doors and kill the demon? I had 19 dex any way

why not jsut sacrifice experience? You are extrememly unlikely to loose actual level, so just sacrifice the experience and be done with it

You cannot and are not suppose to kill the demon (and the game won't let you), it's part of the story. Just play it as it is meant to be....

Half a cheat. Swap in a different main character after moving the save file to multi-player. Get the tear, give the tear to an NPC, and swap in your real main character. Then move back to single player. No loss, no shadowkeeper, cheap, but not a cheat. You will go down to your default reputation, so you do "pay" something...
