I love my Rangers. Minsc, Boo, Valgyer and I! You do not see it in shadowkeeper, but Boo is a ranger.

Drizzt is not a ranger, Drizzt is a murderous...

MONK, ALL THE WAY... jes make sure you have a nice back up weapon (Monks Fists only count as +3 weapons)... Add Keldorn's Armor (15str 17con 12int 18cha), and Amulet of Power (Negative Plane Protection), My monk (Currently Level 35) has 120 magic resistance, -6ac (doesnt seem to raise passed the exp cap), runs incredibly fast, attacks 4x/rnd with a 1d20 +3 weapon, and has -8thac0... he also has the nice abilities of being an outsider (some of even the toughest monsters cant touch me), he can also Quivering Palm, which has gotten me through a few tough fixes, and he can use Stunning Blow (a nice skill)... all in all, I believe monks are the best, and when I try and play something other then monk, I always am bored (FAST movement and Attacking of a monk, then playing a cleric is unbarable)...

I do however always find time for my friend Kassoon and his Ubermage skills... although they are starting to wear thin (even though Kassoon is about level 26, monsters past the Underdark have insane Magic Resistance)...

I think I've spread enough Monk Propaganda for 1 night... oh, 1 more thing, before you break the cap, monks can get to the 3rd highest level anyway (Bards, Rogues, Monks and Clerics can all get 20+)

thats enough

Thara Song 05-10-2001 10:50 AM

Mage/Thief or Fighter/Thief - I LOVE backstabs and pickpocketing and trapping and openlocking and zappy spell effects

You'd have thought so, but no such like. I guess his clucking gave him away

Thieves and Rangers...sneaking around, killing people, leaving no trace...nasty! Ranger ambidexterity also rocks in duel weilding.

Yes indeed...

Keldorns armor? monks cant wear armor and I dont think their outsiders either every creature can hit them if they roll high enough. Monks still kick ass though. I had mine at -10 armor class till that damn bhaal test made me sacrifice dexterity to save a party member.

monks can wear Keldorn's armor. it is a bug. but it is useless anyway when monks reach high level enough

Dramnek_Ulk 05-10-2001 02:52 PM

MAGE!, No one will deafeat them with 8 level 9 spells Not even monks.

my lvl 19 barbarian beat lvl 50 mages, a dozen of them, in duel

Dramnek_Ulk 05-10-2001 03:05 PM

NO beacuse a level 40 mage will cast time stop then spell trigger with lower resistence in it. Then he will cast Abi-Dalzeems horride willting for 40-320 (20-160 if saved) TWICE. and then you will be dead, and he will dance upon your grave happily all the while protected by absoulute immunity.

BS, stop dreaming. I am telling you, I actually did it. hundreds of real battles against real players

caleb 05-10-2001 04:21 PM

Not to mention the barbarian with boots of speed will reach you before any of that happens and a monk will get you even faster.

Bladesinger all the way my character Angel in the Bar thread is a Bladesinger. I play a Bladesinger in PnP

Pennance 05-10-2001 07:35 PM

In Baldur's Gate 1 it had to be the Mage because there were really no decent Mages and Multi'ing the PC was just weak.

In Baldur's Gate 2 I'd have to go back to my PnP days and say a Fighter/Mage Elven Bladesinger. Okay, so the class isn't there, but the idea is. I love chucking a fireball out and then darting into the fray with Bracers of Defense Guarding and Swords hacking (Dual Wield of course)...unfortunately the best 1-H weapons I've found so far are Flail of the Ages and Wyvern's tail...so I'm the Flailing Bladesinger! ; )

BladeMaster 05-10-2001 07:40 PM

Yes another Bladesinger Fan
