There are some items in the game i just can´t play without.
For instance: the first thing i always do is go for daystar.
And i also never miss the belt of frost giant strengh in the underdark and the cloak of reflection.
Are there any other must haves i should know of?

Boots of speed
Glasses of identification
ring of wizardry
robe of vecna
gauntlets of archery, weapon skill
many others.....

I got the improvements from this board actually, some guy sad he had made some improvements wich you could download through his post, looks realy good.

I found the Staff of the Magi exceptionally useful. Its' offensive capabilities are a little too indiscreet for my liking, but the ability for Nalia to become invisible at will definitely compensated for the lack of a good scout in the group once Yoshimo died.

The gauntlets of archery are in the druid grove, maybe in the troll house.

The glasses of identification are on the second floor of Galean Bayle's house.

You can have a ring of wizardry if your main character is a mage and has the planar sphere as a stronghold. Or, if you do Jaheira's quest with the harpers, in the harper hold, when Galvery wants to kill you, a mage has one.
