Have I done something I shouldn't have?
I have just finished the circus quest & I decided to check out the rest of the Promenade before I move on to the next area. . . . . . . . . . . . . . In the 2nd level of the Den of 7 Vales I found this snotty dwarf that attacked when I didn't stand for his insults. It took about 7 or so tries but I finally managed to kill all of them. Have I jeopardised a future quest/event? |
Not that i know of
|
i don't think so
i did tht also and got some gold and other stuff |
Thanks - that was quick!
It struck me that this battle was hard, really hard. Maybe it was supposed to have been done later? My chars were all about level 7/8 or so. My party: Me - kensai Minsc Yoshi Jaheira Aeire The silly familiar(?) kept on confusing my party and I succeeded only when I took Pooky out first followed by the mage. What were your strategies? But now another problem - Yoshi can't unlock the 3 chests. Are his lockpicking skills too low or do I need to find a key somewhere? (No spoils please, just a nudge in the right direction.) Thank you for any help. [This message has been edited by Hayashi (edited 04-10-2001).] |
I think you do change something or it may be with the group in the bridge district. Because there is a quest with the wish or limited wish spell. But I have not tried it yet.

The limited wish spell has to do with the bridge district.
But which 3 chests are you talking about? If its the ones in Mencars room Yoshimos pick locks is just too low. |

The point of this battle is to get some items from BGI (or at least that is the word on the street http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif)
It was a very tough battle. My strategy was to cast entangle into the room followed by cloudkill spell and fireball. This weakened or killed everybody and I just mopped up with bows/slings. As for the chests (I hope this is not a spoiler), but try knock spell or a potion of master thievery ------------------ http://www.bestanimations.com/fantas.../dragon-04.gif It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear ignorant, than open it and remove all doubt! |
Hmmm... ok thanks.
Is this Mencar chap from BG1 or the expansion? If so, what role did he play? |
I did entangle, Web and Stinking Cloud. 3 different saves for each character and they don't turn hostile. Then I opened up with whup-ass effects. When the fighters got closer (Imp had died by then) I summoned some damage shields (oops - I mean allies) and continued laying down some smack

I had a terrible time with this battle too, and after several reloads finally found the right combination of summoning/targeting. My poor party was near-death by the end of it but some good gear was had. There was only one chest my party couldn't open (thanks for reminding me) and soon as I clean up Umar Hills I will remember to take my more experienced folks back there to open the stubborn chest.

There's lots of strategies you can try here. What has worked best for me is to have Yoshimo lay down a couple of days' worth of traps on Pookie, then have a mage summon an air elemental off of the scroll you (hopefully) find in the beginning. Have Yoshimo backstab the enemy mage and the elemental take on the dwarf, then just mop up the rest.
What you can also try is to send Yoshimo up alone, maybe with a potion of speed, and have him backstab the mage and then run back downstairs. With luck, only a few will follow him and into your party's "tender waiting arms". After taking them out, you can head upstairs to take on the rest. |
Doesn't it make you wonder when there's a full-fledged battle going on upstairs and the customers downstairs don't even blink an eyelid? Must be sound-proof walls, lol.

That party is a VERY tough one for an enemy if you try to face them in the beginning. I slunk away with my tail betwen my legs and vowed revenge later. Of course we did return for that rematch later on. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif
> > > > > > > > > > > The chests are pickable, but at a fairly high level lockpicking skill. About 110-120 is needed. It is most satisfying to backstab that runt of a foul mouthed dwarf, and see him explode into dogfood. Pooky the familiar was the most dangerous opponent, surprisingly, and you must take him out with extreme prejudice at the beginning! Laying traps is very useful, as is poisoning the mage to disrupt his spellcasting. |
I could only do them in the beginning if I picked up Aerie. Otherwise wait until a higher level
