Now, if you have used it to detect the last guardian to the tomb of the king, it's pretty much useless. Just throw it away, it just takes space in your inventory.</font>

see ya!

A mage can also wear it, to look cool!

Its useful for mages/thiefs to protect agaisnt critical hits.
Any item in a head slot will protect from critical hits, and the mask can be put on anyone, making it really useful.

Lord Ludtke 01-18-2002 04:39 PM

My sorcerer was wearing that useless hunk o junk until I got the ioun stone patch from baldurdash, allowing pretty much everybody to use these stones which are much more useful then the pretty mask.

andrewas 01-18-2002 08:13 PM

slap it on a monk, for the critical protection of course.

Glorfindel 01-18-2002 08:29 PM

Does it always dispel illusions?? cause I was just wondering since u can dispel the Elmentals invisibility with true sight

Kikakee 01-18-2002 08:58 PM

Nope, it only letts you see that one guy. Plus, it doesn't say that it protects against crits, so I'm not sure that it does. Seems to me that not all helms do.

andrewas 01-18-2002 09:07 PM

anything that goes in a head-slot protects gainst critical hits - its nothing to do with the item, the game just checks if the slots occupied or not.

Kikakee 01-19-2002 12:55 AM

Must be thinking of BG1 then, because I remember seeing "Special: does not protect against critical hits" on a helm of something

PoesRaven 01-19-2002 02:38 PM

Ioun stones do not protect against critical hits unless they specify that they do, The Mask does however protect vs critical hits. If you use the IEEP item creator and look at the pre created ioun stone options you will see that there is an option to allow them to protect vs critical hits. This is not checked, so they will not perform that operation.
If anyone wants it, i created a version of the mask that will polymorph your character into a cute little bunny rabbit Except a bit larger than life with a curse option.
