Unfortunately you cannot have a MULTI-class Cleric/Thief although a couple of people on this board have done DUAL-class cleric/thieves. For my preferences, your suggested party would be a bit light on the tanks (I like at least 2) and mages (also at least 2 - one multi or dual class). Still, this just means you need different tactics. I like the sound of trying it.

Lord Shield: you can do a cleric thief multi, if you choose the appropiate race (gnomes and halforcs can be cleric/thieves)

If you are looking for a really weak party then go with:

Jester.

I will am currently playing the dungeon with the Jester and I tell you, you have to rest alot!

(Don't know anything about the cleric/thief, but it sounds good, not weak)

Fljotsdale 03-31-2001 12:41 PM

A weak party REALLY needs a good Cleric! I should keep in pure class if i were you!

well i havent tried it yet. but my thought is that the clerics ethos would keep you from using any weapons that could be used as a backstab weapon.

I am not sure, I think as long as you wear certain type of armor, you can back- stab with a quarter staff (maybe even a club, since they are thief class weapons in the weapon proficiencies distribution for a pure class thief. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...les/tongue.gif

Lord Shield 03-31-2001 07:36 PM

Good point. Can you sharpen your club for backstabbing? (hee!)

Accord 03-31-2001 07:38 PM

Personally, I always like the idea of backstabbing with a warhammer....well, it's more like "knocking" someone at the back of their head......I think that could be more lethal than stabbing someone at the back with a dagger....... http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...les/tongue.gif

What is the Dak'kon Zerth Sword? Is that a write in or is it in the normal ( patched ) game?

I am currently running a half-orc cleric/thief. It's an odd little combo, but I like the way it works.

As a half-orc, he can have a 19 STR, which works out nicely with backstabs. Since he can use heavy armor - although not with his thief skills - I can make him a tank with spells like DUHM or Righteous Magic if I so choose. Give him the Shadow Dragon Armor and he gets to use his thief skills/backstab (if you don't have this, it is still possible to backstab in heavy armor using a little trick I discovered - if you want to know it, tell me and I'll post it later).

The only disadvantage that I have found is that the only two weapons he can backstab with are the quarterstaff and the club, and there just aren't any really exciting ones in the game, although there's a +4 Staff available early.

Nothing (this is really like an add-on), just remember which file you put into the override folder (in case you have to take it out later), that's all.

Totemic Druid

Rikard, the Bounty Hunters traps make him the strongest thief and an easy soloist according to 250's exploits. The Jester is pretty cool too Memnoch and I have both enjoyed the Jester - no financial problems that's for sure. Rich is hardly weak. I played the Totemic Druid solo, and both he and to a lesser extent the beastmaster (which I've also played) gain massive advantages from their summoned allies. The Spirit animals stick around for ages and take a lot to kill.

This is not to say don't play them. On the contrary they are fun classes, just not weak.

For a weak party I'd do this

Human Diviner (Intel 10 or miniumum)

Orc? Cleric/thief (low dexterity and wisdom plus all specialisation points into detect illusion)

Human Archer/Cleric

Halfling Berzerker. (prof. Shortsword)

Gnome Wizard Slayer (prof. Spear)

O.K..... what do I do now?
