to celebrate my new archievement to Lord AO, I present you this!!

Cloak of subduing: the Deceiver

Description:

This cloak has an most ordinary appearance, it almost looks to be non-magical. The cloak is clean, and the color had been worn out. However, just this ordinary look served its greatest advantage from time to time. Knowledgeable Sages searched this cloak's background for centuries, few even discovered the person who enchanted it. Most of them believe him to be arcanist Dethed.

Dethed was one of the great arcanists once lived in Netheril. At that time, humans discovered the Nether Scrolls, which conceal great secrets of magic, from the wasted elven ruin of Aryvandaar. They parted road of learning magic from elves, and began researching of their own. Dethed was on of those self-educated arcanists. However, humans were not yet knowledgeable and experienced in the Arts. They made variety of mistakes, and one of those transformed Dethed into a lich. Dethed is the first recorded human lich in history. He invented spells such as Finger of Death, and many other death spells. Obviously, his power along with his new appearance scared the living abyss out of any arcanist who knew him. Wizards from many, including the powerful Ioulaum enclave and Opus enclave, began a lich hunt.

Dethed, not wanting to be destroyed, used most of his power to enchant this cloak. The cloak can subdue and hide his own magical identity. After the completion of the item, he was spared from the certain destruction. No one ever heard from him since then, until another one hundred years later, he reappeared trying to use his spell Dethed's Trap (Trap the soul) to take over one of Ioulaum's apprentices body. Ioulaum, the most powerful archwizard ever lived in arcane age, destroyed Dethed, and Dethed's cloak was kept and passed among netheril arcanists for studying.

The last netherese who owned this subduing cloak was a female archwizard of Opus enclave named Lady Arilain. -341 DR, through her divination power Lady Arilain discovered Karsus, who later known as "child-who-would-be-a-god", intended to cast level 12 spell: Karsus' Avatar. After threw warnings to the enclave, she left with the cloak to confront Karsus. She was never heard again then.

Several years after Year of the Sundered Webs, which was when Karsus cast his Avatar spell and destroyed the entire Netheril, including himself, the Subduing Cloak was seen to be worn by elven mage Quazar 'l Harbringer. During the Shadow Wars against dark elves of Twisted Tower, he served army of Cormanthyr and Rystal Woods. Quazar 'l Harbringer cunningly disguised himself and spied Twisted Tower with the aid of the Subduing cloak. He brought back valuable information which led the united elven army to the grand victory of the Year of the Shadow Fleeting. (-331DR)

After the retreat of dark elves, the Subduing cloack earned a name: the Deceiver. Being famous and well-known defeated the whole purpose of the cloak, Quazar 'l Harbringer locked it aside and vowed never to use it again.

However, his magic had not prevented thieving hands, the Deceiver was stolen twenty years after the war. It was then travelled all over Faerun, and exchanged numerous owners. A half elf rogue named Bleagin used it to sneak into wizard school of Tethyr, trying to "loot the wealthy and spare the poor." He accidentally trippled into the back of a stone golem, which immediately crushed Bleagin into a mess. The cloak then went to Tethyr's royal court until -6 DR, the Year of Scarlet Scourages, the outlaw clan Fyrson rampaged Tethyr, burnt down the royal court and claimed rulership over the new found kingdom of Shoon. The Deceiver was thought to be destroyed during the fire, until it is recovered this day.

Stats:
Type: cloak
Special: When wearing this cloak, ALL magical items that the user is wearing will be temporarily neglected. They all appear to be non-magical. Most importantly, if a wizard is wearing the cloak, his magical aura will be subdued and not detectable through any means. The subded items will be functioning as normal item, and they do not glow any light. Spellcaster will temporarily lose spell casting ability. However, spells can still be cast on the wearer.

Non-detection

When the a spell caster wear the cloak, his magical energy is stored within him, so when he remove the cloak, a power magical aura will burst out. (note: the cloak block out the Weave, however, magic still flows around wearer) All spells cast for the next one-round-per-week-of-wearing up to a maximum of one turn, will be twice as effective. this means all spells cast:

Spell casting speed reduce by 2
Saveable spells inflict additional -2 saving penalty
Damaging spells inflict double damage
Any spell's duration is doubled

A simple magical command is needed to remove the cloak. The wearer only need to whisper the secret word.

Usable by:
Anyone

(note: there will be an icon serve the purpose as "remove cloak", that means, once click on it, the cloak will be automatically removed from the user, and drop back in inventory)

Don't mind if I borrow that magic item for my PnP game do you? Gave me an idea who my parties main bad guy will be. Humm some type of undead no doubt, masked by the cloaks powers. Humm I like.

One thing though. Just a comment about the double damage thing. Ah...Mages in the relms don't store spell power in their bodies, they tap the weave. It's interesting your version, but it's a touch overpowering. Coarse in BG it would be really kool. Thanks man....

go ahead and use it.

one thing to explain though, I know the magic is manipulated through weave. however, magic itself flows around everything in Toril, know what I mean? it is as if, magic trying to go through the cloak, and they cannot. once the cloak is removed, magic flood through... hehe. lol DONT EXPLAIN FANTASY WITH SCIENCE!
