heh, i know this is gonna sound like an extremely dumb question, but what does each stat do?
I know Strength increase weight allowance, does it increade dmg as well? Dexterity increases AC, does it increase attacks per round as well? Constitution increases your hp, what else? Intelligence increases wizards spell slots, anything else? Wisdom increases preist spell slots? Charisma, mmm.. not sure what this does... hehe Also, should i leave wisdom on minimum stats for a kensai>mage dual class? |

No, but it improves your accuracy with missile weapons. Constitution increases your hp, what else? Your % chance of resurrection success( assuming you are playing on Core rules and above). Intelligence increases wizards spell slots, anything else? *dayt* Error detected, INT does not affect spell slots. It allows Mages to scribe/know a certain number of spells per spell level. High INT gives you a lore bonus as well. Wisdom increases preist spell slots? Yes, and high WIS gives you a bonus to lore and a bonus to your saving throws against mental spells. Charisma, mmm.. not sure what this does... hehe Reduce prices in shops, affects one NPC in the game. Also, should i leave wisdom on minimum stats for a kensai>mage dual class? Give him 10 to avoid any penalties.

|

Well.... Strength Increases ur Chances to hit and Damage once it gets over a certain point...
Dexterity increases AC and also to hit of Missle weapons, and increases some theif skills slightly... Constitution increases hp per level and thats about it I think, not sure bout it though.... Intelligence increases the amount of spells a wizard may learn and also increases the amount of things u can say (e.g. when talking to Soulafin and he asks if u know what the devourers are u can only say Otyughs??? if u have under 10 Int.) and it also increases the chance of successfully scribing a scroll. Wisdon increases Lore (1x bonus at start) and helps priests somehow. & lastly Charisma increases (or decreases) Npc Reaction... and I heard somewhere it improves prices... though I dont think that is true. |

hmm... I thought that was only ur Rep??????

i tested a 5 charisma half orc and a 16 charisma mage and there is a diffrence. how much are prices affected by high charisma though cos i dunno.

I dont think Charisma does affect prices. Not in BG2 at least. I have heard that it does in BG1, and im sure that it does in IWD, but i dont think so in BG2. Ill email someone wholl know tommorow. That way we will get a final answer on this matter. Im going to ask the overseer of black isle studios forums. s/he is an identitiy used by many BIS staff, and thus will know all the grotty detailsy of all the games made by Black Isle Studios.

it does at the high end of the scale, use a nymphs cloak and blade of roses for a sizable discount (at least if your cha was 18 to start with).
on the other hand, there´s a ring of human influence that turns it to 18 anyway so if you don´t mind being an ugly, smelly, antisocial slob of a powergamer, reduce it to 3 ;) |
I can confirm that CHA *DOES* affect prices but only with high values. Send your PC in to see Ribald with a 14 CHA, and then boost the CHA using any of the following items:
Ring of Human INF: Base set to 18 Cloak of Nymph: +2 Blade of Roses: +2 Helm of Glory: +1 Plate of Balduran: +1 Axe of Hrothgar: +1 Sensate Amulet: +2 Note that a CHA above 20 will not affect item cost IIRC, but let me demonstrate how much cash a high CHA can save at the start of the game: Taking a fairly expensive item: The Staff of Ryhnn +4 Cost with: CHA 14 Rep 12 = 22275 CHA 18 Rep 12 = 18900 CHA 20 Rep 12 = 16605 CHA 14 Rep 20 = 15525 CHA 20 Rep 20 = 9990 So with a rep that does not affect cost, but high CHA, you are saving 5670 GP = 25%. With a max rep and low CHA, the saving is 6750 GP = 30% (not sure why it is stated as 50% in the manual), but with max Rep and CHA, you save 12285 GP = %55, so you are always getting the 25% discount for the high CHA. Strength also increases your chance of succesfully bashing open a lock. Consitution's above 20 should give your PC immunity to disease according to PnP, but I don't think it's the case in BGII, but higher CON values do increase your natural regeneration rate (especially noticable when resting) a little ingenius idea Dundee had was to draw upon holy might *before* you rest, and as spells are active until the 8-hour resting period is over, you get 8 hours of natural regeneration with the high CON bonus! Wisdom does give bonus cumulative priest spells also. Phew! |
