The monk class is a wonderful addition to BGII, but unfortunately they have no "stronghold" quest. *sigh* I wonder if there will be such a quest in the expansion? Something like founding a dojo or being accepted into an existing dojo and becoming a teacher there would be nice. The long-gone AD&D (pre-2nd edition) had Master of East Wind (et al) and other ranks up to Grand Master (or something like that). Could the quest be earning some sort of high title?

Oh well, I guess all the monks will have to console themselves knowing that they are men of god and not in need of such worldly posessions, and content themselves with the knowledge that they can kill almost anything in one attack.

Must be rough!

Monks get the d'Arnise Castle as their stronghold.

ShadowUK 04-01-2001 05:41 AM

I've never played a monk but it though the D'arnise castle was their stronghold. I could be wrong though

Well, now. Don't I feel silly? That will teach me to play the game through with a monk first and make baseless accusations second. Oh, well. Everyone is allowed one mistake--this will count as mine.

The most distressing thing about practicing magic is the fact that even the most learned sorcerers cannot accurately describe what magic *is*....

in the expansion there will be only one strong hold and it doesnt matter what your class is. according to what i have read

read memnoch's rather lenghty post here for info

No problem. I always thought having the d'Arnise Castle as the monk's stronghold was weird, anyway. I imagine that the BG2 design team only realized at the last minute that they hadn't included a monk quest and didn't want to make a new one http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif

What other Strongholds are there, please? I've only done the D'Arnise one. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...miles/rand.gif It'd be nice to try for a different one...

Don't they get a temple in the Temple District (after doing a quest within the district)?

I found Cerebus very useful, he can heal and attack if I remember correctly - worth getting if you are a Ranger.

well you don't get the temple, You get a room in the temple and the rights to use Temple equipement(you meant I can take thoses 2 potions of healing in the bookshelf legit? wow Helm is so generous)

Most strongholds the carater can sleep in, The bard Stronghold he has to pay the inn keeper (you only own the basement as long as you are putting on a play)

I haven't tried the Druid strong hold quest yet but I recall you get a lion summoning statue.
