So excluding the Crom Fayer which weapon is the best close combat weapon the game?
I think it's celestrial fury (+3 Katana)

Carsomyr is pretty handy too. Its the only +5 sword around....

My lead charcter has the Celestial Fury in his main hand and the Crom Fayer in his off hand. I can almost see the little pixelated grin on his face as he mows through all who stand before him. Woohahahahaha!!

Celestial Is my baby, but each weapon class has a good weapon.

The mace of disruption is exelent for undead.

My two favorites are the Staff of the Magi and the Sling of Everard. Both can strike any opponent (including everyone's favorite pet floating skull) and are usable by any class. Picture it--summon a couple of skeletal warriors, haste, spell trap (whether by scroll, memory, or the staff), time stop, ring of the ram, and the sling. This combination allows you to do some serious injury to poor Kangaxx with only a single-classed mage.

The Equalizer is a bit overrated I think..
It is a shame that a weapon with such a legend and artifact status isn't enchanted.
I really think it sucks when I get the message: "Weapon unusable"
with that one.

the blackrazor sword is pretty mean too i know you only get it in the end but if you dont give it away and start a new game with your exported charecter and pause the game while the screen is still black you can dump everything in your inventory and pick it up when irenicus finishes talking

every weapon has different usage.

blunt weapons tend to do extra magical dmg and less physical dmg, which go through various magical protections. edged weapons generally do more dmg, and DOES NOT have the weakness a blunt weapon has (that is, can be stopped by potion)

I normally keep boomrang dagger +3, flail of agies, mace of disruption, daystar, belm +2, Narrama +2, Dragon slayer, Ilbratha +1, Water Edge +3. I keep them all, because with those weapons, there arent any situtation a straight fighter cannot handle

What are the stat's for the Blackrazor (not sure I got it first time around) and the wave Halberd (I left the blade on the floor and lost it before building it.)

Also, what is the ULTIMATE back stab weapon for a thief and where is it located?

Isn't the Celestial fury a longsword? (Can longswords be used for B/S attacks?)
Also if the black razor isn't available until the end what is the next best? (Barring the Celestial Fury which is being used by one of my playing companions.) I'm interested in the stat's of the weapons too if poss'.

dagger
short sword
long sword
scimitar
katana

Celestial Fury is katana, not long sword
