I'm in CH4 of the single player game, and CH2 of a group MPlayer game. Just curious to know what are your views on a party that you create on your own.

My ideas:
1. Sorceror (main char - I am partial to mages), primary mage
2. Priest of Talos, primary healer and backup tank
3. Cavalier, main tank
4. Wizard Slayer, main tank - ranged weapon as well
5. Thief (not sure what kind)
6. Kensai/Mage or Bard, backup mage

My MPlayer party looks like this:
1. Sorceror (main char) - me!
2. Priest of Helm - why is it that newbie RPGers refuse to play evil chars? http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif
3. Cavalier
4. Wizard Slayer
5. Skald
6. Bounty Hunter (Yoshimo) - our original Thief got fried, and we decided Yoshimo's stats aren't so bad after all.

Why dont make it..
6 wonderful Mages who kicks some ass.. =)
Or if you test 6 Half-Orc Barbarians they kick some ass without som magic.. =)

Test it and you will have good team.. or you might have 3 mages and 3 half-orc barbarians.. =)

My best character is a female fight-mage elf. 15 str (19 after bying the giant belt) 18 int
19 Dex
9 wis
16 const
8 cha

She was a total All for myself Tank. Imagine her fighting while having the cloak of mirror, imprHaste, blur, mirror image, stoneSkin and fireshield, and spell sequencer imprInvi stoneskin and blur while having contengency with stoneskin.. Did I mantion she is dual wielding Celestial fury and DayStar? She is my baby !

My multipl game i made a couple of Assassin/fighter dual class. A kensei and a cleric-mage multi class. I play solo that game just for the fun to male more characters and test them. I must say, an assassin level 8 dual class to fighter level 9 and +, Good thac0 for backstab and poison with throwing daggers or any missiles.
Kensey is very strong, I always do 20dmg whith him, grand master in 2 handed swords and 2 slots in 2 handed weapon fighting stile.

I think it's nice to try out all the classes that aren't in the game and which you haven't experienced yet. I think 6 bards or mages are booooooooooooooring http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...smiles/sd3.gif ~ducks for the 46745 magic missiles coming her way~
Just try to make a balanced party which serves all your needs - healing thieving fighting spellcasting - and keep one or more slots for NPC quests.

I would go with:
Fighter/Thief duel class or multi--me http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...es/biggrin.gif
Paladin (either cavalier, undead hunter, or inquisitor)
Ranger/Cleric
Druid/Fighter multi
Sorceror or mage, possible mage/fighter multi or dueled fighter/mage
cleric or fighter/cleric duel

Another set up I want to try

Barbarian
Monk
Archer
Duel fighter/thief
multi cleric/mage
multi Druid/Fighter

Haven't played around enough with bards yet, but want to use them sometime.

In game
Front row meat shields---Minsc
---Keldorn
Scout/Rogue--------------Me--Fighter/thief dueled
Magic/support/shooters---Imoen--mage
---Jaheira--druid
---Aerie--cleric
It aint the best but it works http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...es/biggrin.gif

Next game will be with me being an Ranger/Archer (Elf), and I'll probably pick up Jan as my thief, and drop Aerie. I might try droping Keldorn and getting Mazzy.

In my opinion, the fighter thief is one of the best character types, they are strong, can to thief things and to one hell of a lot of backstab damage, also, as a bonus, there are some armors that wont disable thief skills and are good for fighters!

Nota these where made with Ctrl-Q

After finnishing the games afew times I tried to make a unique multiplayer team.
After I told my other team mates to scram, I summoned Atremis then I summoned Ribal, After that I was walkinking through the slums and I picked up that corrupted ammish solgier in my team, I picked up a priest of Talos (the one who the woman tries to trick), then I went in the guarded compond and got myself a summoner. quite a little improvised team... but I din't get any carater quest.

Accord 03-20-2001 12:13 AM

My rule of thumb is always around 3 magic caster, 1 thief, 2 tanks, 1 cleric, and maybe a paladin. Of course, this setting will mean that I am going to have multi and dual class character, which is usually a berserker/mage (and maybe a kensai/mage) and probably a kensai/thief. Unless they are all imported from previous games, I see many chapter 2/3 fights to be magical intensive as my fighters are desparately trying to get their fighting abilities back.

how about a party of deformed squrril?

IamGeorge 03-20-2001 12:23 AM

I am not a pro at this game, but i have thought about this. I agree that it is good to try out kits that dont appear in the NPCs.

Monk
Archer
Skald (I have one, and he rules with stoneskin and his song that gives +2
to attack, and damage, and -2 AC, soon to be 4)
Kensai/Mage
fighter/cleric (not sure whether to multi or dual)
either Half orc fighter or sorcerer for the last character. It depends if I want to have more magic or more damage.

I like skald, archer, monk, and cavalier. Having a party with a few of them would be fine with me.

Accord 03-20-2001 12:30 AM

250, yeah....a party with a squirrel that goes, "righteousness shall prevail" or "butt kicking....for goodness!!".....or a squirrel that goes, "Nature, take the life she gives!!!"

Fighter (Paladin, ranger)
Cleric (druid)
Thief
Mage (sorcerer).

Let's go.

Altranan 03-20-2001 04:56 AM

Just thought I'd add my MP party:
Paladin (Undead Hunter)
Human Swashbuckler
Kensai (to be duelled at level 12)
Monk (I need to see what all the fuss is about)
Then two spaces for NPC's don't want to miss out on their quests, and I actually like Anomen contrary to popular opinion.

Lillie 03-20-2001 08:51 AM

I've used the same party all through the BG series, and created the same party for IWD and HOW. I love `em http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif

Lillie - paladin
Slash - half-elf fighter
Twinkle - dwarven cleric (used the Priest of Lathander kit in BG2)
Rena - halfling thief
Biff - half-elf druid
Hex - elven mage

Zateel 03-20-2001 11:20 AM

A good (by this I mean well balanced, easily playable) party should have at least one mage, cleric (or druid), and thief. After that, anything goes. If you want to rise to high levels fast, or reach maximum ability (this won't be a problem in throne of Bhaal, with 8 million XP's) a true class is great. My general rule is to always start as a fighter and dual (for hit points, use of bows, etc.) when the class combination allows. My favorite party in BGII
Cavalier (Yes, I'm a goody goody)
Kensai/ Mage (you talkin' to me?)
Fighter/ Cleric (dual, not multi)
Inquisitor or Barbarian
Swashbuckler or fighter/ thief(dual)
Sorcerer

Sometimes I substitute a rabid squirrel(nut biter kit) for the sorcerer.

Zateel 03-20-2001 11:22 AM

By the way, according to the antique D&D rules (I'm not up on anything post 1988), a Paladin could not travel with evil characters. I'm pretty sure this game does not enforce that though, because I think I let Viconia snuggle with my Cavalier for a little while.

kesai elf for bonus with swords
monk obvious reasons
dwarf beserker for save vs spell and main tank in the beggining
assasin
conjurer
priest of helm for true seeing
this is perhaps a bit too much offensive but thats the way i play
