Its the third time that I start SoA, Im now on chapter 3 but I need to find a ring that I once had that reflects spells casted to the user, I need it to reflect the "Cause Serious Wouds" cast by the beholders on the Cult of the Eyeless quest, any help would be aprecciated.

Caminante 01-15-2002 10:47 AM

By the way hello to everyone this is my first visit to your forum and I love it.

Any help on finding the ring will be apreciated, or any advice to avoid those spells.

eb 01-15-2002 10:56 AM

what work do you have?
i canīt recall any ring that can reflect those magic.
hmm with Spell Deflection i think it will bounce back to the Beholders. Not sure but that is a lvl 5 or 6 spell i think.

Lord Ludtke 01-15-2002 10:59 AM

There is a cloak that does that...

It is in the middle of the Sahgian city on the way out of the underdark,(take the boat ride).

Thx eb. Should I check an Item list from the game? and where could I find one?

Caminante 01-15-2002 11:02 AM

Thx. Lord

Minor spoiler:

as far as i know two items in the game permanently reflect damage spells to the caster. the cloak of reflection (found in spellhold) and the shield of balduran.
A ring with that ability i have never found (do you mean he ring of protection +1/+2??)
but casting any magic reflection spell should also work very well.

Lord Ludtke 01-15-2002 11:09 AM

I think the one he wants is the cloak of mirroring, which reflects all spell damage, as the cloak of reflection only reflects electrical damage. See location of mirroring in previous post.

and WELCOME!

eb 01-15-2002 11:10 AM

Find what? A scroll of Magic Reflection? Hmm Adventures Mart i think have.

Caminante 01-15-2002 11:21 AM

Where do I find the Cloak of Mirrorring?

eb 01-15-2002 11:26 AM

In Sahugian city (dont know the spelling)
After youve been to the Asylum you can choose to go trew a portal or ride the waves with a boat.

A minor Spoiler.
Go with the boat if you want the cloak.

Note, the Cloak of Reflection does *not* reflect everything if you install ToB. It was considered unbalancing by the developers, and bumped down to a permanant Globe of Lesser Invulnerability.

eb 01-15-2002 12:06 PM

I bought ToB yesterday and installed it. The Cloak of Mirroring is not even good now. Have any other tip on a good cloak?

Thanks in forehand. :D

Er, it really is a fine cloak--I mean, Lesser Invulnerability is a perfectly fine spell, particularly if you give it to a melee type and draw the enemy's attention to it. Then they'll try to dispel it, unsuccessfully.

Now, if you want cheese items, you can always run the Freedom Reign mod: plenty of new stuff, some of it pretty unbalanced. Alternatively, turn down the game's difficulty level, if you're having problems strategizing through some of the heavier battles.

You mean invisibility don't you?

eb 01-15-2002 12:22 PM

Well i am against mods. So no thx and lower the difficulity is cheating. :D Its not that im not handling it, itīs that i dont like the cloak anymore.

No, I meant Globe of Invulnerability. Should have been clearer about that.

Micah Foehammer 01-15-2002 12:28 PM

Back to the original post .. Isn't there a ring of spell turning in the game? Could our friend be referring to THAT?

eb 01-15-2002 12:41 PM

Maybe... you get it quite early if my memory isnt to short. :D

coil 01-15-2002 01:39 PM

ive currently got 'the ring of spell turning'...is this what u mean?
can't remember where i got from tho :(

Caminante 01-15-2002 02:26 PM

Now I am confused,is there a ring? or only the cloak?

If anyone can check, with a game guide or something feel free to help us.

The cloak of mirroring reflects all spell damage back to the user. With ToB installed, it simple "absorbs" it but still renders all damaging offensive spells useless to the wearer. It is not classed as a (minor) globe of invunerability as these only offer immunities to all (3rd) 4th level spells. The cloak absorbs *all* spell damage of *any* level IIRC.
LOCATION: Shaugain City

The clock of reflection sends all electrical energy back to its source.
LOCATION: Spell hold dungeon - Judgement areas

The shield of Balduran reflects *beholder* rays back to the source.
LOCATION: Dierdrie adventurers Mart - Bonus Merchant

The Ring of spell turning casts minor spell turning once per day
LOCATION: Matron Mother, Underdark.

I hope this has cleared up any confusion.

Welcome to the board Caminante
