Since I found out about CTRL+Q I've been checking it out and have found some truly awesome characters. My current fave is Lagol Gon. He is a level 29 mage. What I like is that he can memorize 6 level 7, 6 level 8 and 3 level 9 spells. Has anyone else found any other way too powerful characters?

Bodhi, the "Bodhi" in the game is immortal.

Sentinel04 03-12-2001 09:54 PM

Heh Bodhi wasn't so immortal when I drove a stake through her heart http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif.

Accord 03-12-2001 10:00 PM

Yeah, but this is the Bodhi who you meet first time in the Graveyard...like many other characters in the game she has several versions....you can [ctrl] + [y] her as many times as you like and she will keep coming back. She even took out two CreateCreature Blackdragons on her own, and her hitpoints are locked at the "almost dead" position.

SPOILER!!!

Has anyone tried to Ctrl-Q Irenicus during the Tree of Life or Final Battle?

deverece 03-12-2001 11:08 PM

Doesn't Ctrl+Q on Bohdi or Jon Kinda muck with the basic flow of the game? I mean whatcha gonna do, have Bodhi fighting Bohdi type scenarios? Besides I don't think Bohdi would last too long against a level 29 mage like Lagol Gon.

Accord 03-12-2001 11:30 PM

Heh, keep in mind this "Bodhi" CANNOT die. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...l_laughter.gif
And you spawn her through CreateCreature code, which should not create conflict within the game.

My favorite is Ribal Chaotic Neutal Thief/Mage, I'd like to try Seamon but I can't find his code. My favorite Cheat isn't the ctrl-q, even if I try to keep my cheated game away from my normal games when you have to walk across the screen to get from point A to point B and you know if you encounter any ennemies it's just going to be some low lev thughs it's just damm to temping to do ctrl-j save the time and the expensive ammmo.

I've got to agree the [ctrl] + [J] is definitely more practical......hate walking from door to door like entering the fighter stronghold or from the Planar Sphere to the inn.....not to mention the Underdark. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...les/tongue.gif

As far as immortals in the game, there are several:

< spoilers follow >
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Imoen in the beginning dungeon
Branwen
Xan
Belt

Basically, if a character is not supposed to die, he/she won't. Most of these characters have some sort of magical device (Imoen's belt, invisible ring, etc.) that keeps them from dying.

I still like my Anti-Paladin (5 attacks per round with an Unholy Reaver is fun). The character dies once in a while, so I don't feel like it's cheating -- too much.

As for raw power, try Arkanis Gath -- the immortal assassin from the Shadow Thieves Guild. If he can kill any PC, he should be able to kill anything else as well. I haven't tried to Ctrl-Q him though.

For Arkanis Gath, all you need is his killer sword, that'll kill most creature with 1 or 2 blows in the game (except for characters who "cannot" die".

Hesperex 03-13-2001 03:21 PM

that just ...might have a little something to do with the fact that his sword is about +1080 +10 AC +500 thaco etc etc

Yeah, his killer sword is the way to "slay" and any character can wield it. Got to give it a try just for fun for once.

Of course excessive usage can cause an accelerated depreciation rate of the game itself.

Aegis Crownguard 03-13-2001 03:35 PM

Although he's not immortal I enjoy playing with Entreri. I usually bring up (or down i suppose) his AC because -12 is just a little overkill. Hes got a great voice.

Raistlin 03-13-2001 08:14 PM

Does all of this have to do with modifying the ini file? If so where do i find the directions for doing this? Also is there a list of cheats so you know what is possible?

Accord 03-13-2001 08:16 PM

Yeah, you have to put "debug mode=1" under "program option" of the baldur.ini file in the BG2 directory. Then use the console CreateCreature command, it is not just for hidden NPCs, also works for monsters you find in the game. You can find the codes using the infinity explorer.

Can you get the Bhaal avatar as an NPC, he was immortal I think, as he got to the almost dead stage and stopped taking damage.

Ctrl-Q doesn't work on that Arkanis Gath. It works on the wussy version.

I still think that Artemis Entreri is the best Ctrl Q NPC. The human Adalon is pretty awesome too.

Be careful, excessive usage can cause accelerated depreciation rates to the game's value.

It's impossible for you to have the killsword in your inventory Raist because there is nowhere for you to find it. The one you had in your inventory was just the standard Longsword +2.

What does Ctrl Q do??????? I am interested. Plus, I think is you change the colour of Imoen's clothes in Irenicus' dungeon she has them in all the dream sequences........

Ctrl+Q is a debug thing you can do to make just about any thing in the game a NPC. By the way, forget about Lagol Gon. Terminsel rules. He is the one who hands you the note when Jaheira runs off the turn herself in. He is a cleric/mage ... level 29 cleric and level 17 mage, he can memorize 12 spells for every spell level both cleric and mage. He's neutral alignment which is rare. He wears neutral archmage robe, ring of protection +2, cloak of protection +2 and Amulet of protection +1 ... his AC is incredible of a magic user.

250 03-16-2001 09:27 PM

oh my.... i didnt know that!!!

P.S. most harpers are neutral
