I once solo'ed a Mage/cleric
Now i like spells, and believe me, this character has a LOT of them,
great fun !!! Especially because a cleric can cast so many
protection-spells (death-ward, prot. from electricity/fire/cold etc. etc. etc.) that spelltrap's and spellturnings werent needed anymore.
And ever unleashed a spell-trigger with Greater-malison, spook, doom ?
An instant -12 to enemy saving throws [img]smile.gif[/img]

Sort of SPOILER!


Well...ever been able to unleash enough timestops to kill jon irenicus before he touches you? I practically never miss with my dual swords...it gets boring after a while playing with this character.

a things i had fun with:

solo kensai with stats edited to 9 str and 3 in all others... boy was that game hard! (getting out of irenicus´ dungeon almsot caused me to hurl my computer out of the window)

gnome cleric/thief, minsc, valygar, nalia, yoshimo/imoen, jan: backstab haven... it´s quite helpful if the whole party can hide in shadows

solo sorceror: armies of magical critters whenever you need them... poor firkraag was hopelessly outmatched and i didn´t even remove the experience cap

most fun character to play imo is a ranger dualled to cleric... good choice of tactics, great casting ability but no overpowered recycle capbility (project image), instantly-kill-anything(sequencers) or game-breaking items (staff of the magi)

The Most Fun Party(tm) is any party containing both Jan AND Haer'daelis.... the fur flies on a regular basis....

Does Jan have a go at Hae'Dalis worse than he goes at Keldorn???? IVe neva had The Bard and Jan in the Same party.... is it funny??

Why not. Nothing is impossible.

I'm soloing now with lvl 20 Sorceror (in Bg2+ToB) and it is much funnier than with 6 member party.

Use knock to open stuff, and just have to soak up the damage on traps (you get lots of healing potions, plus, if you are hasted, you can outrun a good number of trap effects). Alternately, start out as a swashbuckler, then dual-class to mage. This allows you to have better weapon skill, get good lockpicking and trap abilities, and still be able to cast like crazy.

Open locks with knock and cast a stoneskin. It takes the damage on it self and your character dosent suffer much damage. So do I do it.

I'm playing as a lvl 8 thief dualed to a mage. I put over 100 points in open locks and find traps when I created my thief and dualed to as soon as BG2 started. By the time I was out of Irenicus' dungeon i was lvl 9 mage, went around and did some easy, mostly non-fighting quests and now I'm at level 15 after only a few quests.

I think the most crazy and funny thing to go for soloing should be,

- a solo sorceror

- a cleric/mage
