Well here I am
I know I should get the award for most inconsistent visitor... I drop a bomb of posts every now and then, then I disappear for a week and when I log on again I become desperate everytime because I have so much catching up to do and because I'm afraid everybody has forgotten me already!
I hate it but I just can't log on too often on weekdays!

Moiraine, Just curious, did I see that you posted somewhere you work in computing/engineering? Anyway, it's too bad about the weekends, that's when I will be posting most of the time, as my boss is going on maternity leave and if you think I have chaos *here*, you have no idea what my office is like! I pick up half her admin work while she's out. So I won't be posting from our lovely ethernet-connected univ computers much except at lunchtime.

Seeing as it's already been mentioned here I'll tag this on.

Since I joined this board (and I'm not suggesting this is the fault of the board) I'm getting, pretty much daily spam mail from all directions. A lot of it adult and pretty lurid. Do you think someones playing a joke on me?... or is putting an email add' in the profile a bad move for some reason. I'd rather leave it as I'm not averse to you guys mailing me if so desired. Advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think I should explain the private discussion about Malcolm between Yorick and me in the previous 'Boards awards' thread.
As Yorick is a singer/writer/producer, and as I love his songs, I started trying to find a Web site where I could buy his records (and which would deliver as far as France). I finally found one last Thursday, and bought a second-hand copy of one of his first CDs (BTW, it seems that I had been very lucky, for this CD is no longer for sale) ! And I received, to my amazement, a very enthusiastic and friendly mail from the guy of the site, named Malcolm, who was very very fond of Hugh's music. So I replied, and he said such compliments about Hugh's music that I could not do anything else than forward the whole mail exchange to Yorick. Which I did, hoping for Malcolm that Hugh would send him a mail, for Malcolm seems to be a very nice guy. Here's is the story !

Hmmm, well, I like them both. I don't know, though. This dual alignment thing...kinda weird. BTW do u know that ur average ppd is 10.7? That's 5th behind:

Armisael - 20.8 ppd
Arathorn II - 16.8 ppd
Memnoch - 15.2 ppd
Yorick - 13.3 ppd

Gabriel is technically 5th with 10.8 ppd but because he has Multiple Account Disorder I added his and Azuth and all his other myriad personalities together and cumulatively he has 4.9 ppd (his Azuth persona kinda pulled his average down).

So who's the SpamQueen now? The numbers speak for themselves baby!!!

but i had 300 in begin november
and 1180 now
so that is 880 post in 50 days
so about 17 ppd i have

I actually put together a list of posters and ppds. Apologies to any i may have missed, it is not intentional! Try spending an hour remembering everyone and then looking up their posts and working out their ppds. I got Excel to do it for me in the end. Those i've missed, feel free to add your details!

Sorry, I just found that so funny. I just try and help Ziroc out when I can, poor overworked soul that he is. I just did all the math from everyone's profile. As for IP addresses - anyone can find them, they're staring you in the face. Hint: when you're typing a reply, scroll down through the posts and you will see a number in the bottom right hand corner of each post. That's the IP. It only shows up when you're replying.

What is interresting is that the longest members have lower ppd due to the "slower" BG1 Forum and the gap between BG and BG2
Rikard is the only one who is on all 3 the top 10's
Armiseal is an insane poster
Ertai was a slow poster for a long time (between october and bg2 release in Spain 4 moths after it was released in USA)
Ziroc is forgotten by memnoch and thus not in these top 10's (i took his post and modified it)

Hmm Rikard i was a slow poster... until i got what we call in spain the "plain tariff", that is, paying a certain amount of gold every month to connect all the time i want.

What amazes me is that I disappear for a month and I still make Memnochs table of excessive posters lol. I am conviced that half of you wear laptops and use speech recognition to post on the move. Either that or you don't do any work at all! Or maybe I am just jealous that I can't type that fast. What happened to Melusine as she surely deserves the Poll queen award? Perhaps I should start a new one: Whatever became of Melusine's Polls?

I have a job which allows me to keep some time now and again for posting on the board. And Hewlett Packard has a dreamy connection rate ! At home, I have only 40 hours of connection per month (8 hours used already this month ...), so I guess you won't see me much on week-ends by the end of the month ...

Yes, I do get some pretty disgusting stuff like that and I've yet to be sure where the perverts got my email address. I'm getting really quick on the delete key and reported one sicko to the AG. But my email isn't open to the board, so I'm sure that's not the source. That and the fact it's been happening since I first got into emailing several yrs past.


A couple possibilities. Do you have cookies enabled in your browser? Advertisers/sites that do cookies can sell or give your address away as can legit sites you may register with. Pays to read the fine print. Still it is almost impossible to avoid.

Is your email addy on any website? There are
search engines out there that scan the web for viable email addys and use them for mailings etc.

Melusine: I understand your problem. Try not having a computer at home. Good thing I have a computer based job with a bank where the boss doesn't understand what I do and what programs I do it with. Especially after I worked with the programers to write programs to cut my worktime in half so I have more time for this board. Plus the Computer's at college are good to. Sometimes it pays to have worked at the Library for four years during college.

I have put both my mail addresses in my profile on the board, and I never got any bad stuff from it, so I think you didn't get these annoying mails from here.

That's pretty strange, Charlie. I hope it's not someone from this Board. Perhaps if you just ignore them and definitely DON'T answer them back they will lose interest and leave you alone. Works for me anyway.

I get that porno e-mail crap too. But I got it before joining the forum (back in Nov? I think). So I think its not Ironworks, just normal shite mail. Hey, why I havent received any shite porno mail from Charlies Shop of Shite? Oh geeze, I'd hate to see the photos NEVERMIND! Ha!

It's not a big deal and I may have got a little before, I don't recall. It's just the volume is increasing a bit, usually 2 or 3 a day with 2 of them being filth. I'm not averse to a bit of smut don't get me wrong, but I often have my 8 yr old niece with me who reads real good. Trying to avoid her questions like what does masturbate mean can be pretty embarrasing. You download your mail and words like that are staring you in the face in giant red type...well you get the picture. Cookies other than the edible type I'm unfamiliar with. I guess I'll get younger bro' to sort a filter thing for me. Cheers anyway.
