this is just for you guys trying to figure out the whole multiplayer thing. someone mentioned that it was getting hard to load. -Strider

Accord 02-04-2001 04:52 PM

What's up Strider. Just curious, when is your spring break (or reading week)?

Aragorn II 02-04-2001 04:57 PM

Hey again Accord, I just came back to Northeastern the 21st - im pretty sure my next break is march 15th, but i could be wrong...i should probably check up on that eh? what about you, whens the next audit cut-out week?

Accord 02-04-2001 05:05 PM

Heh....I only have one "reading week", as they like to call it that way in Canada. And it is from Feb 17 till 25, guess I'll hang around more often during that time at M-player or any other multi-player opportunities that might arise. But I might do a bit of travel with classmates....just to escape the "cold".

Aragorn II 02-04-2001 05:12 PM

hey, youre not gonna believe me but ive got that same week off. i just called down to the news office and apparently we have the 17th to the 25th off, and we also have march 18th to the 31st. boy, you kind of wonder where all the money for tuition is going. we have just as many days off as we have school days.

Aragorn II 02-04-2001 05:29 PM

btw, do you play any hockey accord?

Accord 02-04-2001 05:57 PM

I watch NHL and world junior champs. As for actually playing.....well, I know my capabilities, hence I only play street hockey on foot. Don't get me wrong!! I can skate, just can't stop!!

Accord 02-04-2001 05:59 PM

Regarding your time off, I hope your professors are getting some serious professional developments......I think mine are preparing for the next October Fest.

Aragorn II 02-04-2001 06:21 PM

lol Accord, professors here are pretty decent i guess. i love octoberfest...you should come to lake placid next october, we could meet up at whiteface mountain. nothing better than walking the olympic village with streets full of drunken fools

Accord 02-04-2001 06:42 PM

LOL true indeed. The only thing I recall from the past 4 October Fest was BEER.

Aragorn II 02-04-2001 07:22 PM

funny, i try and i try but i cant even remember that... lol

Lord of Alcohol 02-04-2001 07:24 PM

Did somebody say BEER? I'm there!

Accord 02-04-2001 07:26 PM

Heh.... BEER, it's the way to go......

P.S. Don't drink and drive!!

Aragorn II 02-04-2001 07:45 PM

So Accord, what other games are you interested in? I play Half-life quite a bit on-line. My friends think its strange because that and BG are at such extremes. I also recently got Hitman:Codename 47. That game is pretty sick...very realistic. Aside from that i got started on computer RPG's back with the Legend of Darkmoon series (in like 1948 or whatever, heh) They were pretty cool but lacked, how do you say...realism -Strider

Accord 02-04-2001 07:55 PM

Well, from the past I always enjoy flight sims such the Janes series by EA. But due to lack of time and finding more sources of stress, I have decided to go back to 1st person shooter, my favorite is still Aliens vs Predator (love the pred) but ever since I started play RPGs on PC, the AvP cd is just sitting somewhere on the desk collecting dust. Other games I play are Fallout 1/2, Planescape: Torment, Diablo 1/2, BG 1/2, and Daggerfall......oh yeah, I also played Grand Theft Auto 1/2 (that's reserve for exam time only though).

Aragorn II 02-04-2001 08:10 PM

I never really got into AvP, been meaning to try it ever since its release though. Its on the list of things to do...Big fan of the fallout series though. Im looking forward to fallout tactics, that should be a cool spin on everything. Also really liked daggerfall and the diablo series. I hear theyre working on a 3rd diablo, dont know if theres any truth but i suppose there are alot of unanswered questions. BTW, its nice talking to you bro. -Strider

Accord 02-04-2001 08:25 PM

For sure Diablo 2's expansion is coming out, however, if they are going to do D3....well, I shall cross my fingers and hope it won't be an Alien 3 (no offence to the Aliens movie series fans). D2 was an excellent online multiplayer game, but I am finding it to be more (or too much) pure HACK and SLASH. I guess that's why I like BGII's party concept, adds more depth to the game. But after a frustration day of work during my work terms, I just rush home and log on to B.net....then picturing each monster to be either my bosses or clients (so much for professionalism).
Speaking of expansion, Morrowwind (Elder Scrolls 3) is suppose to come out in the next two years....can't wait. I guess Heart of Winter will keep me company for the next couple of months though (no delays, hopefully). Anyways, nice talking to you too dude!

Charlie 02-04-2001 08:35 PM

AragornII.

Sorry my friend, I got your mail re M/P but it was kicking off as I read it. It wasn't my place to give the hosts IP without his consent and I really apologise if you felt that you were ignored....this was not the case. I hope you can get a game up and running.

Best wishes.

Charlie.

Aragorn II 02-04-2001 10:27 PM

Hey Accord, went out for some drinks but now im in for the night- lol
Ive been meaning to ask someone about the elder scrolls series actually. are they any good? i was gonna get the first one a while back but never did because no one i knew had ever heard of them.

oh, and charlie - Null sweat bro, like i said no worries if things dont work out. btw, you can call me Strider if its easier

-Strider

Aragorn II 02-05-2001 12:00 AM

eugh...getting late again...where on earth does the time go...

Accord 02-05-2001 12:21 AM

Heh.....Hey Strider, regarding Elder Scroll series, from what I have gathered Daggerfall was their best one. I was going to get Battlespire, but many reviews have caused me to abandon such investment. The first one plays very similar to Daggerfall, but Daggerfall is definitely better.

I am looking forward to Morrowwind though.

Aragorn II 02-05-2001 12:29 AM

I think we've got two different daggerfalls in mind How new is the Eldar Scrolls Daggerfall? The one im talking about came out right after the Legend of Darkmoon series...seriously old school. I suppose that would mean your daggerfall is different, seeing as Eldar scrolls is fairly new. then again, at this point i really dont even know what color my shirt is... lol -Strider

Accord 02-05-2001 12:34 AM

LOL, dude, you might want to get some sleep first then.
The Daggerfall that I am talking about is back in 1996 (I think). Old and bit-map graphics.....1 st person RPG. Best known for its BUGS.

Armisael 02-05-2001 12:36 AM

"Halt, halt, halt"?

Aragorn II 02-05-2001 12:38 AM

Maybe we are talking about the same one then...that wonderful piece of old school blocky graphic make my computer run in turbo mode so that the game doesnt run too fast software is part of the Eldar Scrolls series??? heh...maybe it is time for some sleep... -Strider

Accord 02-05-2001 12:38 AM

Yes!! That's the one Armisael!! That's the one!!!!
Dark Brotherhood....Thieves guild....etc

Aragorn II 02-05-2001 12:39 AM

lol Armisael....and how are we doing tonight....well, its tonight here at least...

Accord 02-05-2001 12:39 AM

Love going into shops and load my cart after they are closed.....then sell it back the next day.

Aragorn II 02-05-2001 12:44 AM

alright, im curious now...does your daggerfall have the reg. rpg stats, as well as personality, luck, speed, and crap like that in generation?

Accord 02-05-2001 12:48 AM

Yes!! And also skill points like longsword, lockpick......etc.
You can get infected by werewolf/wereboar, vampirism too.
And weapon distinctions are based on the material it is made of such as silver, iron, orcish....etc.
Are we talking about the same one?

Armisael 02-05-2001 12:51 AM

Quarter to leaving work. I barely remember Daggerfall, but the one time I played it, I recall getting into trouble with the guard. Go figure.

Aragorn II 02-05-2001 12:53 AM

lol...yeah, thats the one. i remember i was a high-elf and i took the critical weakness to paralysis, but since theyre immune to paralysis it didnt matter. haha...oh boy, the good ole days of gaming...

Accord 02-05-2001 12:57 AM

Yeah, I was a Nord......that's back in good old carefree high school days.

Speaking of multiplayer game, I remember another North American member of this forum also mentioned something about hooking up a game, you might want to talk to G.W., Strider.

Aragorn II 02-05-2001 01:01 AM

yeah, i recently left a reply on another post somewhere for him...i havent really played BG2 online yet. any fun Accord?

Accord 02-05-2001 01:04 AM

I have not try real multi-player game for BGII yet (I play single game through multi to tune my characters), but it was fun for BGI.....though my friends and I tend to go in different directions at times.

Armisael 02-05-2001 01:05 AM

I've played a couple of multi games with a few mates. It's great fun, 'cept everyone has a habit of wandering off to try and do their own thing, or spending the party's money. I also remember several arguments over loot - who should get the boots of speed, for instance.

Accord 02-05-2001 01:06 AM

Or dump unwanted inventory into your character's inventory (eg. used keys and notes).

Armisael 02-05-2001 01:08 AM

Heh, one of my mates got annoyed with another and dropped three platemails into his pack. The poor bloke couldn't figure out why he was moving so slowly.

Aragorn II 02-05-2001 01:08 AM

i never really did it with BG1 either...i was too busy playing team fortress at the time

id like to get a game up with some peeps though, sounds like itd be great fun. btw, can you still have npc interactions (romances, spontaneous conversations) if you play a multiplayer game alone?

Aragorn II 02-05-2001 01:21 AM

nachos....mmmm....
