I dont meant to sound like a complete dumbass or anything, but how in the hell do you join a party (or whatever you join) over the internet? What number are you supposed to put in when they ask for one? I really would appriciate the help guys.

Not a stupid question at all. I've wondered the same myself. I guess we'll both be waiting (im)patiently for replies to this one.

Walnutbutter 02-03-2001 01:18 PM

Shucks, I got my hopes up when I saw that somebody had replied.

Just curious, are you guys talking about M-player??

Walnutbutter 02-03-2001 01:32 PM

Yes we are... can you be of any assistance?

Accord 02-03-2001 01:36 PM

I thought you can only join a M-Player game in the beginning, i.e. not in the middle when the game is in progress. I played other games on M-player but never BGI or BGII since I always encounter problem joining BGI game. Which part of the process do they ask you to put in "number"?

Father Bronze 02-03-2001 01:37 PM

Yes. The manual mentions that you can host a session on your computer and/or connect via modem, cable, etc. Has anyone done this? How does it work? Do you need an ICQ number for internet play? (If so, what is it and how do I get one?)

I assume that this (multi-player over the internet/modem) is all possible somehow, but I've always thought it just a bit too confusing to try. If someone could clear the fog, I'd appreciate it.

Accord 02-03-2001 01:47 PM

I usually play via modem or IP, modem just dail your friend's phone and wait for reply, IP just dail your friend's IP number. If you host a game, it might take a while for everything to load (i.e. sometimes your computer might "look like" it has crashed, but it really hasn't).

Regarding ICQ, no I don't think you need ICQ for multi-player play. You can talk in the game's console like in Diablo.

Hope this will help a bit, but I'm not sure if this has clear or made it foggier.....

Accord

In the multiplayer section, after you have specified the modem and click the "join" button, it asks you for a number to dial...

Accord 02-03-2001 01:55 PM

Are you trying to join a game or are you hosting? If joining, just dial your friend's phone number there and wait for his/her reply. My apologies, but I do not have the game with me (I am still at school and the snow storm is preventing me from going back to my 150km away home ) so I am answering based on what I remembered from my past experiences.

S'right. One person hosts, the other person joins. If you're playing over modem, you punch in the host's phone number; if over TCP/IP, you put in their IP address.
