Lord of Alcohol 01-14-2001 09:53 PM

Charlotte NC, USA although I used to live in Colorado Springs Master Sorceror. And theres a beach at Monument Lake. Errr pond.

Yorick 01-14-2001 09:53 PM

(LOL) You crack me up Armisael. How is it in South Syd... I mean, Melbourne anyway? Are you still Tomato Man?

Yorick 01-14-2001 10:01 PM

Hey Intoxoboofhead! (Sorry about the last time we 'spoke' old chap)
C'mon, a beach has to have surf, waves, much soft sand for sleeping on, women in next to nothing and an endless horizon (to gaze at while swimming/waiting for a wave) for it to be called a true beach.

In all seriousness Lakes/Lochs/Loughs ARE beautiful though.

Armisael 01-14-2001 10:03 PM

Nope, the burn wore off, but so did the holiday. Back to work for me. It's forty here today, and it'll be hotter tomorrow. Right now, though, I'm off into the sweltering streets to pick up some food. If only I could cook... no, bugger that, it's too hot to cook in this apartment. And 'next to nothing'? C'mon, Melbourne women are far more adventurous than that. : )

Memnoch 01-14-2001 10:43 PM

Heh. It'll be forty tomorrow here in Sydney as well. I live about 20 mins away from Yorick, at McMahons Pt, Sydney, Australia, right on the water, just across from the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.

Here's a photo of the view from my apartment!

omegadawn 01-15-2001 12:54 AM

Hey ya'll, I'm from the southern U.S., currently residing in Boston MA USA. Its cool to connect with so many folks from so many places! Peace and Prosperity to all of you
Oh yeah I lived in denver for a while myself, what about the great sand dunes southwest of colorado springs. They arent a beach but its hell of alot of sand!

Yorick 01-15-2001 12:56 AM

I'm in a studio at Kings Cross at the moment. I'm on a mac (PC at my home studio). Bloody hot. Good weather for singing and swimming and maybe lying down under the shade of a coolabah tree but not much else.

Armisael 01-15-2001 01:06 AM

It's forty-two now, and I just walked through the door. Still waiting for this antacid to kick in; I don't think the burger I ate for lunch had been refrigerated properly. What is a coolabah tree, anyway?

satan 01-15-2001 01:11 AM

im a triple class (hee hee hee)
born in bosnia/ grew up in germany/ currently florida

Tobbin 01-15-2001 01:13 AM

Holiday, Florida here. South Eastern United states. Too many beaches to sate my needs. Too much warm weather too. It was around 70 or so today. I much prefer the cooler Northern weather. Used to live in Flint, Michigan before and I grew up in Fayetteville, N.C. Where I was in NC had the best overall weather, but Michigan had the best winter weather. Can we say SNOW boys and girls.

Armisael 01-15-2001 02:36 AM

I could never figure out how to translate fahrenheit to celcius. 0°C is -32°F - WTF?

Tobbin 01-15-2001 02:57 AM

Well, I remember that F is usually larger than C
You either add or subtract 32 depending on which way you translate. sub for C add for F
I know that the multiplier is either 5/9 or 9/5 depending on which way you go.
So 70 F = (70 - 32) * 5/9 I think that's about 21 C
70 C = 70 * 9/5 + 32 which is 158 F
I may have that wrong though. Been awhile since I did it, but I think that's right.
Oh right, 0 degrees Celsius is 32 degrees Fahrenheit. I know that though. And 100 degrees Celsius is 212 degrees Fahrenheit. That's why the Celsius scale was devised, so that there would be a base ten from freezing to boiling.

Armisael 01-15-2001 03:03 AM

Ah yeah, that's it. Let's see...
°F = 9/5°C + 32
So Melbourne suffered at about 108°F today. Ouch.

Tobbin 01-15-2001 04:43 AM

Well, although I live in a fairly warm climate, I would love to visit Australia. Never been there. I've been to parts of Europe and the mid-East, but I've just heard too many good things about it.

Aurum 01-15-2001 04:55 AM

bocaj 01-15-2001 05:42 AM

wow, this forum streches out all over the globe. That is pretty impressive.

Rikard T'Aranaxz 01-15-2001 05:54 AM

I'm Dutch like Farhenheit but we don't use fahrenheit eventhough he was dutch
isn't that just awfull
I personnoly never use Celcius aswell
Kelvin is the wayn to go
anyways i'm from apeldoorn which is about the 7th biggest city in holland with about 160.000 inhabitans
in mideastern holland
20 km north from Arnhem capital of Gelderland (the province apeldoorn is in)
and 40 east of Utrecht - 4th city of Holland
and 80 km east of Amsterdam

Yorick 01-15-2001 07:05 AM

Armisael,
Sorry about the time it took to reply - hectic schedule....

I do believe a Coolabah tree is the one that the folk legend Andy camped by as he sang while watching and waiting for his billy to boil - which on a day like today it wouldn't take long, but since he watched his pot I doubt it boiled at all.

And no I don't think I've seen one either, at least I haven't sat there and said "oh now there's a Norfolk Pine, and thats a Redgum, and oh, and that's our much loved Coolabah tree."

Sounds a little too much like Ettamogah for my liking

Armisael 01-15-2001 07:12 AM

The only trees I ever see growing native 'round here are gum trees.
#Under the shade of a gum-um-um tree...#
Well, there aren't that many trees with three syllable names, I guess. Norfolk Pine would work.
Bugrit! Now I've got that blasted Sunraysia ad in my head.

Cleric 01-15-2001 07:45 AM

Rikard T'Aranaxz 01-15-2001 08:05 AM

London, England. The weather's freezing over here and can't type with these fu*king mittens on!!

BLACK KNIGHT 01-15-2001 02:45 PM

I'm from Columbus, OH in the states. It is very cold here. It's about 40 degrees here too, but it is F not C. And the conversion is correct on here, by the way. Did any of the Aussies go to the Olympics this year? Your swim team was great!!!

BK

Bowmarc 01-15-2001 05:29 PM

Sydney here - Cronulla to be exact. Gods Country, in the 'Shire.

But, I lived in Boston, MA, for 5 years. Framingham to be exact - great place though I prefer the heat. It's great to be living in 40 degree weather again. I love summer!

The Olympics were awesome BK - and the Cricket this summer is even better. *Pats his Sydney Day-Nighter tickets*

Nabus 01-16-2001 12:45 AM

Well I live in Virum, its not far from Lyngby, which I guess you know. If you don't it's abuot 14 km. north of Copenhagen. I think you wrote some place you were from Copenhagen, right?

bocaj 01-16-2001 03:32 AM

Hey it is good to see other people from around here, Nabus? What part of Denmark are you from if you don't mind me asking. En svensker, Artea it is also good to see nabours here at the forum.

Memnoch 01-16-2001 03:54 AM

Hey black knight, I know how cold it is in Ohio. I grew up in Cincinnati! Shittest football team in the US. I'm Spanish-Filipino-Chinese. Then I moved to LA, then to Sydney where I'm staying forever and ever and ever because this city kicks ASS. Olympics was AWESOME. One thing Aussies do well is party and organize parties!! I went to the 4x100m final where Ian Thorpe pushed out Gary Hall Jr, that was the biggest adrenaline rush I've ever got from watching anything.

To saigo, to display a picture you need to publish it on the net, meaning you need a website. No sweat, yahoo gives them away for free. Once you've got one you just need a photo or image to upload (instructions are pretty self explanatory). Then you call it using the [ img=] command which you can find if you click on the help function at the top of this page.

Zertyr 01-16-2001 04:11 AM
