What kind of whoopass ranger is Drizzt anyway? He's supposed to be a lvl 15 ranger, so I cheated a bit til I had a lvl 15 ranger with the scimitars and chainmail in his inventory. Stats were all 18 or 19, I think I tried them both. Then I attacked Drizzt: one-on-one, no healing or anything else, just wait til one dies, and guess who that was: me. I actually tried every guild there is at lvl 15 with the scimitars and chainmail, and still I couldn't kill him. Then I tried a lvl 21 monk against him. Guess what, I won, but only after running away from him once to heal. He just won't die. Is this a bug in the game, did the programmers just do something wrong here, or is it me? Shouldn't I be as strong as Drizzt with my 15 level ranger? (or another class)

Second question: the difference between a normal fighter and the berserker kit, except for the enrage ability? The way I see it, there are no other differences, so one would never ever create a fighter char, but always a berserker. That way, if you don't use 'enrage' you're a normal fighter, and otherwise you are more powerful at times. Anyone care to comment?

Well haven´t read the stats about Drizzt from the game but do remeber that he wasn´t always a ranger, if you read the books about him you ´ll soon realize this as he becomes a ranger after growing up as a fighter in Menzoberanzan so he should whoop you´re ass even if you´re a lvl 21 monk and furthermore, Drizzt and his friends are probably the most loved heroes of the Icewind Dale world so that too may be the problem, you´re not supposed to kill him..

Desdicado 01-11-2001 11:09 AM

Isn't a berserk unable to use ranged weapons I think?.

Rikard T'Aranaxz 01-11-2001 01:50 PM

Drizzt has an attack rating of 4 . Good luck with the 's and the

Drizzt is a force of good. Any (chaotic) evil character should try to stop him.

Entreri 01-14-2001 12:12 AM

Drizzt was a 18 fithter before leaving Menzo. After that 15 ranger. So, He has 33levels experiences ... Hard anough to kill. Suppose to have 5 attacks per round, and the bracers of improved haste on his legs. He is of course grand master. If you think he is tough, try Jarlaxle if its possible in the game. This dark elf has nothing non magical on his body, even his eye patch, hat, feather hat , ear rings of pro fire 100% ... A black hole of teleporting ...

Armisael 01-14-2001 12:37 AM

I'm semi-evil, but I have nothing against Drizzt. I have an idea he just changed careers once he got to the surface (i.e., from a fighter to a ranger, using whatever experience he had as a fighter to determine his new level). He's fairly strong - not outrageously strong - but I agree, he's overpowered in BG2. Not nearly as bad as he was in BG, though, heh. On a spoiler note, Jarlaxle was disappointingly easy to kill, and all he had were some crummy regular weapons. At least I got to loot that other Ust Natha estate, though.

_max_RUSSKIE 01-14-2001 03:54 AM

How the heck did you kill Jarlaxle? Wasnt the speech locked? So you cant actually attack him??

Hmm i wonder what a zombie Zaknafein would be like.... Although with a good cleric he should just explode!

Tobbin 01-14-2001 03:58 AM

Well, considering that Zaknafien (sp?) taught Drizzt how to fight, I would imagine a zombie Zaknafien would be pretty tough. He was pretty awesome when Matron Baenre brought him back to life in undead form. I do remember reading that in the Dark Elf Trilogy. It was great. The Mind Flayers were tough too FOOMPF. LOL. I loved it.

_max_RUSSKIE 01-14-2001 04:04 AM

Yeah if you remeber Drizzt didnt actually defeat him, His attacks were useless, but then Zak got sentient from seeing Drizzt's techniques again and jumped into the acid (well i read it along time ago....)

SO that means a lvl 18 fighter (someone said?) couldnt defeat him, who knows how powerful he was

Armisael 01-14-2001 04:09 AM

No, the speech wasn't locked. If you continued on with the angered line of dialogue, eventually you just attack him. He uses that 'well, your funeral' bit again. Pretty tragic; his mage was actually more of a challenge than he was.

_max_RUSSKIE 01-14-2001 06:11 AM

Youve just given me the final incentive to play the game again!

Ceers mate!

Armisael 01-14-2001 06:15 AM

Just don't pluck the gems back off Jarlaxle's corpse after you defeat him (on the chance that you defeated him before his mage, and that you actually bother to loot corpses before a battle is over). You'll get stuck in an endless loop.

_max_RUSSKIE 01-14-2001 06:23 AM

Uhhm ok, dont really have time to loot corpses during battle, and im far to noble to do such base acts such as looting anyway (Uhhm ok, well, maybe.....)

Memnoch 01-14-2001 07:34 AM

If you thought drizzt was strong in BG2 he was damn near unbeatable in BG1. Either way he has only 13 strength but 5 attacks per round so really 10 attacks. He's a bit weaker in BG2 but will be stronger than any other ranger of the same level.

_max_RUSSKIE 01-14-2001 07:41 AM

He wasnt unbeatble---- you just needed to surround him with monsters, and pray for criticals!

NytesHalo 01-14-2001 06:56 PM

Before his death, Zaknafein was a level 24 fighter, an unmatched Drow Weaponsmaster. Not Even Drizzt could defeat him in combat, up until he perfected a countermove against Zak's scissor attack. Now As far as Drizzt (The following is all from the Menzoberranzen boxed set so he is most likely even stronger in the current time)

AC -3 to -8
HP 92
Attacks 5
Damage 1d8 +7 (x3)
1d8 +5 (x2)
His equipment is Mithril Chain +4, A defender +5, and a frostbrand +3. He also has Bracers of Speed which he actually wears as Anklets since his feet couldn't keep up with his hands when he wore them normally. And yes, before he was a level 18 fighter before he met the Ranger Montolio. As far as I know, He has never been beaten, and the only one to come close, other than Zaknafein of course, was the Assassin Artemis Entreri. I would love to see Drizzt and Jaraxle go at it, though I think even Jar would be hesitent to piss him off, even with all the magical trinkets he has.
