Mantis 12-03-2000 02:42 AM

well i think a cool idea would be to make new kits for the monk class. because there are many different types of monks then it is a pretty wide term. the new kits could be things like a sort of chinese shaolin monk who is focused on combat (much like the monk already in BG 2) and a more spiritual monk that calls on the gods to strike his opponents.
i dunno, these are just ideas i had.
got any more?

_max_RUSSKIE 12-03-2000 07:01 AM

Hhhhm like everybody wants, a WILD MAGE ok!

What about a Few more clerics for the different gods,And a new druid who could shapeshift into Elemental, Pit Fiend etc etc

fruz the impaler 12-03-2000 09:18 AM

ninja/samurai characters would be kewl

Deadpool 12-03-2000 10:30 AM

Hey guys, i'm new here.
I think a Bladesinger would be nice.

Drow followers of Eillestre. thats the reason i didnt kill that drow in the drow city. i have a Drow ranger that follows Eillestre, so i spared him.

Lycanthrope ranger (ability to change into a werewolf, werebear, werepanter, etc...)
i think Beastmaster should give you an animal follower.
There are more great character classes, i just cant think of anymore right now.

Memnoch 12-03-2000 07:52 PM

Depends on whether or not 3rd ed will be implemented for BG3. If they're sticking to 2nd ed, race-specific kits like dladesingers, dwarven skalds, battleragers, would be nice.

Khellendros 12-03-2000 11:01 PM

In the very least, there should be more cleric kits for different gods and alignments. An maybe the option to be different subraces within the major races.. in other words, get bonuses for being drow in opposed to being a moonelf, etc. Could work for any race.. even humans.. any suggestions?

Darkspellbinder 12-04-2000 05:31 PM

I think a anti paladin would be cool give playing evil some one to kick some ass

Bruce The Aussie 12-05-2000 08:08 AM

I recon being able to be a drow or something like that would be cool also kits for barbarians would be great

Mantis 12-05-2000 08:15 AM

how about a half vampire race?
anyone seen the movie blade before? with wesley snipes?
very cool movie

Merc Widowmaker 12-05-2000 08:50 AM

Yeah definately anti-paladin. What about an Elimentalist type mage with specialisations in element types. Spells from a list like fireball, wall of fire , conjure fire elemental etc for fire. Iceball, wall of ice etc lightnig bolt meteor etc ...

Kaël 12-05-2000 09:06 AM

I think this is the way to make a sorcerre usefull a specialist sorcerer with ALL spells of 2 schools

Jon the Hell Caster 12-19-2000 05:25 PM

half vampire for sure!

hobs 12-20-2000 03:06 AM

More good evil characters. Ehh.. I mean, characters that have some great abilities, but are evil as hell! Something like... hm.. For example you could summon demons and would have base ac -2, strenght would be 20 and you looked like a warped two legged hyena, AND you have to eat everyday one human, your racial enemy would be like, everyone else, and only way survive in city is camouflage or try to kill everyone in sight! And possibility to play an ogre or goblin or some other "bad" creature of realm. And it would be also nice to have a possibility to end the game by conquering the lands, enslave the peoples, kill the kings and queens, and become the evilest and ruthlest ruler ever! I mean, it realy start's to bug me that good guyes always wins, bad guyes usualy has better weapons, better monsters and better motives, they should win for a change.

-evil hobs-

omegadawn 12-20-2000 03:15 AM

Classes from the oriental adventures would be cool. Ninja, Samuria, Eastern monk and many others. Also more kits like the battle-mage(can wear armor with many restrictions) and many others detailed in the AD&D 2nd edition optional powers books. Clerics could have a whole variety of ethos to choose from like war, peace, weather, death, ECT. Also, there has got to be a way to progress druids past 14th lvl, Imagination maybe the key here...

Satyre 12-20-2000 04:13 AM

Damn.. I wanted to agree with something but I forgot what...

ach, ja... the anti-paladin would be a brilliant idea, because I am sick of seeing Mr Good-Nancyboy I-am-a-PALADIN-ain't-I-just-too-shiny.

In short soley allowing existence of lawful-good paladins is prejudiced and blind. I mean, paladins are basically supposed to be the extreme embodiment of an ideal. Now being chaotic-evil is also an ideal, if we want to stick to the hard and fast rules of alignment... so let the guy have abilities and a big sword too!

A more flexible plot would also be good. I too am tired of seeing the good guys win. It is perhaps the major wekness of the game, in the we are always pushed in one direction.

Hmmmm, I just might build me a real big trouble character and see what happens if I try slaughtering as many people as possible... hehehe

There need to be more items in the game and adjustments to the specialist classes, like sorcerers and monks to make them worth playing, including a reduced focus on the main character...

Child of Bhaal, child of Bhaal, child of Bhaal.. yada yada yada.. it's a wonder the poor character doesn't flip out due to hearing about it all the time and get REAL nasty...

Well, that's my 25 cents.

For a new Idea how about a herbalist, conjouring various potions and magics from herbs and spices, sort of like a cleric but more focoused on nature, sort of a mix between a Druid and a Cleric or failing that a Vampire, that would be really cool!

Jimbo 05-15-2001 11:05 PM

I want a shaman class for BG some time.
They would be of either evil or good alignments, and be war-priests of hardened areas of life. They would be masters of buffing (raising AC, THACO, all stats), debuffing (slowing, posioning, lowering ac, THACO), they are elemental so they would be able to draw upon some nice strike spells and some nice damage over time spells. They wouldn't get as many spells as a cleric or druid, but they have some nice abilities.

They would use spears, 2handed blunts, 1handed blunts, 1 handed axes, slings, and they would get to have 2 specialization(possible 3, especially if they let barbs have 3) (with 3 in duel weld, and 2 in the other fighting styles). Armour would be restricted to chain or less (scale, chain, splint, studded etc...). Special ability would be alchemy ability, and at a higher level the ability to summon a compainion spirit (basically a wolf that kicks butt, or an animal of that nature). They would have decent healing, but no raise or resurection.

They would be all race available, not able to duel or multi class. Requirements of str, con, wis and charisma (gets to roll for str bonus but only can go to 18/50).

They would work hand in hand with rogues and fighters, would be so so with sub classes (except fighter and thief subclass), would be tolerated by clerics, apathy with magic users (they don't hate em, but don't really like them, tolerant, but if the situation is bad it can get violatal), and druids are disdaned (not hated but doesn't take much to set them off against each other). Shaman take nature's force and use it, whearas the druids want to preserve natures balance. The two sides tend to be in conflict, but can work together sometimes. Evil shamans tend to be less tolerated by druids then the good aligned shamans.

Spears need to be of 1handed kind and a 2handed kind. Epic weapons could be a spear (+5 enchantment, +6/+6 hit/damage, slows target on hit [best slow in game other than the shaman level 7 slow] 3x per day casts a greater debuff [lower ac, all stats -7, all resistance -50, lowers hitpoints, lowers thaco] no saving throw, lasts for #levels of character per round, can be dispelled by any dispell magic (no saving throw, mage or whoever casts the dispell, and the greater debuff will be gone))--okay that could be too uber...

Tom, I hate to be the one to burst the bubble, but there will be NO BG3. ToB is it.

There may be other Bioware games though. Let's cross our fingers.

In case you don't know, the new kit in ToB is the wild mage.

Vaskez 05-16-2001 08:47 AM

Actually Memnoch I read somewhere that there may be a BG3 after all. Yes TOB is it for the Bhaalspawn story but there will be a new story (apparently). I can't remember where, maybe PC Gamer. I know they sold the rights to the infinity engine and I can't remember the details but I swear I read it somewhere, I'll see if I can find it again...

Here's some info about tieflings.

<font color="gold">
TIEFLING
In the multiverse, few creatures are of pure lineage, and even fewer are what they seem to be. That's the greatest truth of the tiefling's existence. It's not advisable to ask a tiefling about his or her ancestors, as the answer wouldn't likely be pleasant. Part human and part something else, tieflings are the orphans of the planes. They can be described as humans who've been plane-touched. A shadow of knife-edge in their face, a little too much fire in their eyes, a scent of ash in their presence - all these things and more describe a tiefling. No planar would mistake a tiefling for a human, and most primes make the mistake only once. Tieflings live with both pride and shame of who and what they are. They have no culture of their own, and most are loners, which fits their background. Some slip into the edges of human society, becoming poets and artists who describe the corrupt fringes of the respectable world. Adventurous types often spend their years probing the unexplored edges of the multiverse, be it to survey strange lands or experiment in the forgotten niches of magical science.
Humans don't trust tieflings (and deep inside they fear them), but they remain inexplicably fascinated by tieflings just the same. The plane- touched are often accused of secret plots and awful alliances - mostly without a shred of proof - because of who and what they are. A tiefling learns early that life is unfair and hard. His reaction is to fight back and never let his foes see the pain. Other people, even other tieflings, simply aren't viewed as allies and often are automatically considered ene- mies. A tiefling doesn't take a friend until he learns the measure of his companion, and even then he'll never fully trust anyone. "I watch my own back," is an old tiefling quip. They maintain no hereditary blood-feuds, but tieflings take care of themselves without any thought of others' prob- lems.
Tiefling characters gain a +1 bonus on Intelligence and Charisma scores, but suffer a -1 penalty to Strength and Wisdom. Tieflings can be of any alignment save lawful good. They also gain a number of special abilities, based on their mysterious heritage: They possess infravision to a range of 60 feet and have the ability to create darkness, 15-foot radius once per day. Tieflings suffer only half damage from cold-based attacks, and they gain a +2 bonus to all saving throws vs. fire, electricity, or poison.
Tieflings can be fighters, rangers, wizards (including specialist ma- ges), priests, thieves, or bards. They may also pursue multiclass options, including fighter/wizard, fighter/priest, fighter/thief, wizard/thief, and priest/thief.
Tiefling thieves make the following racial adjustments to their thief abilities:
PP OL F/RT MS HS DT CW RL
- - +5% +10% +10% - - +5%

I'm not sure about what classes...but sub-races would be cool. Diff dwarfs: hill gully etc. and have bonuses and stuff for each. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Wah 05-16-2001 05:10 PM

I's say they should have a class where you can mix or three "specialist types" like a conjurer/necromancer or an enchanter/diviner.

Also a Lich class would be nicehttp://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

(PS - Liches are conjurer's by default in BG2)

Memnoch will probably get back to you later with this! (He knows alot and isn´t a lazywolf as I am http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif)
The only reference I have had is to Faerun and in the Legacy of the drow where they are briefly described, moon elves are dark haired or something and gold elves are fair but much like elves in general.. As far as I know..

Er.. Memnoch? http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif (I do call him a sea of information!)
