I'll start it off then, I used to be a mighty sorceror but I got bored with that.

I am a halfelve ranger. they are good fighters and they have some spells.
but my decision was more a emotional one. i like the attitude which they live up to.
but somehow i have the feeling, that just a few people choose to be a ranger. ( i feel soooooooooooo alone- no, just kidding)
is there a reason why?

Well it could be because of the ranger stronghold
i mean i would rather any of the other strongholds to a shabby cabin

what is wrong with a shabby but coszy cabin? i suppose it depends on ones taste.
fireplace included inside, of course.
and maybe a fridge and a computer .
well, that sounds " gemütlich ", doesn't it?

Mages rule! There is nothing better with tons of spells to protect you. The monsters keep hacking at you while you taunt them with magic missels, and then say good bye with a finger of death!

Im gonna play a Druid untill level 12 and then dual to mage(a mage with ironskins),
cant wait to try this out

Im a Half Elf Archer. with grand mastery in logn bows and mastery in short. I can hit anything anywhere. and most of my called shots kill in a single hit. (that dragon as a racial enemy made firkraag a sinch to beat)

Berserker, left over fighter from BG1. Wow, he is a badass. Next game I'm going to try out the archer, sounds really cool.

Pure Kensai maxed out in 2HS proficiency, Grand Master 2HS, currently wielding Vorpal Sword. Average damage per hit 35-60 pts, with Vorpal's 15% chance of instant death with a -4 penalty to save per hit, he really rox..

A Chaotic Neutral Mage/Thief (elven) Give me elven chain and I am good to go. In retrospect, i should have taken a half-elf so I could get with Viconia. I took Chaotic Neutral so I could have 2 good 2 evil and 2 neutral characters for a diverse party.

My name says it all I guess!! Yes, I'm a true mage (not some abjurer etc...). And I love casting spell that kill enemies with one hit. Especially those damn greater wolfwere, you have to breach them first of course.

I am Andaras, a most holy cleric with the kit of "Priest of Lathander". I imported my Neutral Good cleric from Baldurs Gate 1.

I lead in all things, Deul wielding katanas ( ??? fury and Derth Zarkons Blade). Somtimes I Kill and the rest of the party just watches in awe as my mirror imaged, stone skined killing machine makes chop souix (??spelling) sushi and shiskabab of all that dare stand in my way ! ROFL

necro mage here at your service... i have 2 allies always with me when i travel... a mage/cleric and a fighter thief... good combo if you ask me... =)(ps all chaotic good)

Without the exp cap, i now have a cavalier at lvl. 18, almost 19! Nothing can stand in his path. The holy avenger, armour of the hart and ring of gaxx. He is excellent, and was imported from the first game. Killed the shade dragon on his own.

I'm a level 15 standard fighter grand mastering in katana with celestial fury, shield of harmony and boots of speed. Nothing stops me getting to you and in no time you're stunned. I've had whole groups of monsters stunned around me as I move from one to the next. IF you think your so called great kensai mage makes chop sui then this guy must turn them into a fine mist. Wizards are no problem when you're hitting them before they get their first spell off.

I'm a Kensai lvl 14 imported from standard fighter BG1. I have 5 skill points into 2h-sword and 2 skill points into 2h-weapons. Coupled with boots of speed and ring of gaxx, I'm so fast that my other NPC don't even have swing one blow that all the monsters are already dead. Amazing!

I play a level 11 elven archer named Bleys. He is a grandmaster with a longbow and his racial enemy is the dreaded Troll. I hate those trolls, don't you?

Human fighter/mage, level 12/15, specialising in two-handed swords and defensive/disabling magic.

I am a 17th level cavalier with the Holy Avanger(of course) and the pride of the legion and ring of gaxx.
I think Paladin is the best character in the game becouse they can have priest spell, lay on hand, turn undead and wield the best weapon in the game; THE HOLY AVANGER.

yeah i would agree with you advatar but for a couple of points: need more experiance than fighters, can only specialize in wepons, and by the time u get the preist spells there pretty much useless.....

apart from that.....paladins rock!!!

Um, just one thing...the best weapon in the game has to be Crom Faeyr, not the Avenger. The Avenger is the 3nd best weapon in the game after Crom Faeyr and Celestial Fury.

I would rate it second, after Crom Faeyr, and thats only because you can wear a sheild with that! The Holy Avenger's 50% magic resistance and dispel magic on hit can be put to great effect.

Then again i just don't like katanas. any of them.

I finished the game as a female cleric (Priest of Lathander kit) wielding a Mace +3 and equipped with a Shield +3, Gorgon Plate +4, Balduran's Helmet and Bracers of Dexterity (stats STR 16 DEX 18 CON 17 WIS 18 INT 10 CHR 18 AC -10) and now I'm a male sorcerer.
It's really weird to play a male character but I wanted to find out if there are any differences storyline-wise. (there are!!!! Aerie and Jaheira are suddenly all over me...help!)

Which character is that quote from? is it Edwin or Xzar? or is it Tiax? i cant remember that far back....

It's Xzar, my favorite deranged schizophrenic paranoid wizard (I know dragons with feet like rabbits, 'tis true I swear!! Montaron, you are so aggravating! mommy I don't feel too well... Stop touching me! I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti...) Ok, so maybe I 'm a bit deranged too, knowing most of the characters lines by heart...oh well

Pity he wasn't in BG2, as i NPC i mean, conversations between him, Jan and Minsc would be close to madness...and very funny too
