ok I finally decided I would get Jan Jansen, problem is he has talk to me twice in the past and both times I told him I did not want to buy what he had. now when i try to talk to him it says that he is busy or that "Jan has nothing to say to you". HELP!!!

As to your question where did you speak to Jan? In the Government district? Or at his house after you've solved his little problem with a certain official?

Well, the others are silent, so I'll try to answer although it won't be too optimistic. The friend of mine had the same problem - he refused to buy turnips during the first conversation with Jan and after that was never able to get him into the party http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif. Sorry, it seems that you can't do anything to make Jan join now http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif. Of course, may be there are some Shadowkeeper (or whatever) things that can improve the situation, but I'm not a specialist. IIRC you need to talk to Jan to trigger an event - so maybe you made the wrong dialogue choice. Anyways, what's supposed to happen is that a certain official will appear and threaten to throw Jan to jail for illegal selling o fturnips or whatever. SOlve the problem for him, and Jan will return to his house. Then go see him at his house and you'll be able to get him to join.
That's what's supposed to happen anyway. Perhaps you have a recent save to reload? You *did* save often, didn't you?

I did save often but i talked to him a LONGGGGGGG time ago, I have done some quests since then. oh come on there must be some way to reactivate him and start the sequence. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif

Unfortunately, if you refuse to "see his wares" the first time you talk to Jan, he will never talk to you again.

Unfortunately you'll miss some very funny conversations, but as to combat efficiency of the party - you do not need Jan, especially with your half-thief main character and Aerie as wizard-support, imho.

as long as jan is still in the game world, you can use a cheat to get him to join, but i've only done it for laughs after i've saved (non-playable npc's say some odd things when you kick them out). if you have cheats enabled, put the cursor over jan and hit control-q. he'll automatically join your party. i don't know how this will affect his scripts.

In the "baldur.ini" file, neneath [Program Options], type the line
Debug Mode = 1

Some cheats require the code bar. Cntrl functions don't - CNTRL-Q on Jan to get him in the party (he is well worth it)

ok I got him to join, all looks well. but what are the best weapons and armor for him to use? His current AC sux and only 37 hit points OUCH!

Jan YOU ARE THE WEAKEST LINK!
