Hello folks,
Now I'm done with this pretty good game. It was mostly very good, sometimes a little boring considering the lack of quests. But the fights have been very good. I was a little disappointed about the lack of new spells once you are something like level 27 or so. Now, what to do next? Can you recommend some other very good rpg's? I'm desperately waiting for KotoR 2 and Gothic 3, but in the meantime? Many thanks for your suggestions! Michael |
BG series, Morrowind, IWD, NWN, WCIII, WCIII TFT and much more.
|
But Is WCIII really a rpg? I don't think so.
I have already played the games listed in my signature. However, many thanks! Michael |
KotoR, BG series, IWD series, NWN, Dungeon Siege and many more.

Help me my Brutha's & Sista's..
Check my thread with this title. I was asking the same thing. You may find some other ideas there. |
WCIII isn't a RPG, but still fun. However, in TFT they have an RPG campaign.

Hey, why don't you try Wizardy 7? It's awesome...
SecretMaster, cheers for your sig. I just love Get Fuzzy! Cheers Philipp |
Wiz 7 is hard to find, I've tried.
|
Try Ebay or Amazon.com for Wiz 7.

Ya, ebay got the wiz 1 to 7 . I just checked.
Or try Might and Magic series, or even Wizard and Warrior. |

Secondly, get Wiz7 if possible. Believe me, you will never get bored. And I do not jest, without any help, it would take year maybe half a year to a year to complete. |
How bad are the grapgics? The price on ebay ain't all that cheap.
|
Wizardry 7 might be a good idea, but what about the games story?
Also only fights and so few quests? Is there still help available in the web? |
The graphics are pretty old, the game was made in the late 80's. Wiz 7 is the story of obtaining the Astral Dominae, and where the Dark Savant is first introduced. It is one big search to find the location of the Astral Dominae.
|
..and I believe I would need some sort of Dosbox or some such thing to run it, is that right?
|
You should buy "Wizardry archives" which contains ALL wizardry games exept nr 8. Also, there's Wizardry Gold (contained in the archives, I mean), which is Wizardry 7 for windows. There's much help available on the net, check tk421.net for a complete walkthough and info on all wizardry games. Graphics are... well, they are there, but the game is like, 10 years old or so. But MUCH fun, definitely a better story than Wiz 8, really tricky riddles, enemy parties who try to get stuff before you... man, it's really, really good, try it!
Oh, yeah, there's a bug in, I think the diplomacy skill or so. Check that out before you play... Cheers Philipp [ 09-19-2004, 09:34 AM: Message edited by: Pyrates ] |
Just tried it myself, Wizardry 7 (not Gold) seems to run fine in dosbox. I'd do that, the bug isn't in there, and I think it works a bit better in several areas. I might just start Wiz 7 myself again...

Like I said, I'm playing FF5 with an emulator now. How would the graphics compare to that SNES game?

The bug is just in Wizardry Gold, not in Wizardry 7. Check http://vnboards.ign.com/Official_Wiz...40/56357652/?9
to get an explanation. As for FF5, you mean http://ff.warcry.com/scripts/images/...id=591&site=58 ? Wiz 7 has by no means the same quality... or does it look differently on the SNES? Give me a link, please, google isn't really helping... Cheers Philipp |
There's also a Forum for W-7 at Greatest RPG Fans.
|
Pyrates - that's not the FF5 I remember...it was a fun game with very simple graphics. Should be comparable to Wizardry VII, but since I've never played W7, I can't say.

The graphics in Wiz 7 Gold or DOS are sufficient to get the idea across. W7 is much more frustrating tham W8 in that you have to reload much more (but this is quick on today's computers!). I don't depend on graphics so much. Yeh, I appreciate them but want game play. More and better game play. I still like old games with limited graphics if the challenge is there, the true RPG element. D.W. Bradley (who wrote W5-7 and W&W) has a new game coming out this year: "Dungeon Lords". The pre-reviews are good so far but it is an "action RPG". You won't see the stats and leveling. Damn, that's most of the fun! And I don't need the real time elemnet, Wiz and War bothered me. But I guess each person has their own style and criteria for a good game. I like turn-based nd parties, the main reasons I am still into this game and Wiz 6/7.
