Some nut at the entrance to the Docks district just threw a scimitar into Aerie's head and then walked away mumbling. Is there something special about this event or the weapon itself, or should I just pawn the thing instead of carrying it around?
Thanks, Son of Arathorn |

I don't believe there is anything special about the scimitar. I usually demolish the nut as soon as he starts approaching. No need to take an unwanted blow to the head. :D Go pawn it. |
If you go into the temple in Waukeens promenade, he will make another entrance, the priest will tell you what his problem is.
Despite the fact he does attempt to throw a schmitar at your head, it deals 1hp of damage which I hardly think is enough to kill the poor fella. He does give his money to the temple after all! |

i know about this quest but do you know that drizzt's ice scimatar is in his helm slot! Bricklbright is in his offhand and the other one is on his helm!!
|
Hey, I had that scimitar stuck in my weapon slot once, and couldn't get rid of it. Every time I tried it said "magic weapon in use", or something like that, and I was playing a mage. The only non dual, non multi mage in the realms that was stuck using a non magical scimitar, that I didn't even want.

Ahhh...thanks alot Jim. I never go to any of the temples except for once to initially investigate. Guess I'll have to change that policy.

No Problem......

Normally the scimitar to the head is not a problem, except you get "waylaid by bastards, and you must defend yourself". One of my guys bit it in that battle, then I raised him just so he could carry his stuff as I intended on staying at an Inn.
Well, lo and behold,as I enter the new area that guy takes a sword to the brain and dies. Then the murderer runs so I don't even get to kill him. Moral of the Story: Don't walk around town with 1 hp. |
I think that one of the times that you are waylaid, one of the items somebody drops is a short sword +2 that grants haste once a day and free action.
|
I kill him before he gets a chance to hurt me. Then I kill him again in the temple. Arn't I nice.
Warby |
I love getting ambushed by slavers... all the free scrolls I can use up... that short sword is good, too, since short-sword-wielders are my usual decoys (see tactics thread).
I have to admit I never even noticed the temple in the Promenade, have to check that out... but I always thought it was hilarious, exactly the kind of thing that OUGHT to pop up in a real game... |
I for one think you should be extremely wary regarding scimtars to the head, or indeed any attacks to the head--what would you do if Aerie started talking like Minsc?

It happened once that I just had the fight with the Githyanki in the Slums District and I was out of healing spells, and decided to go to the temple there in order to heal Imoen who was indeed down to 1 hp. When I entered the temple, she got hit by that nutcase and Imoen died. And, even worse, her equipment was no where to be found either, so I had to reload from an earlier savegame and fight the battle with the Githyanki a second time. Annoying. ;) |
I gotta admit, this is the funniest thread I've read in a long time - but I will put the various morals learned here to use, avoiding walking about with 1 hp and flying scimitars
|
I also had a bad experiance with that guy, I had just fought a rather nasty battle, cleansing Athcatla of the E-ville cowled wizzards, I had just raised Minsc from his previously chunky existance, to his pre-previous non-chunky existance, not paying for healing in the temple, because Sir Anomen, and Aerie are much cheaper than the temple, when all of a sudden, he takes 20 gp to the head, as if he hasn't had enough head wounds, but anyway i got to pay 1600gp to raise him twice because of that !(*@&&^@#%@&^#
