I'm just thinking about trying to go threw this game with one character, and I need to see what everybody thinks would be the best race and profession to do this?

Kakero 07-19-2002 12:21 AM

for solo game, try faerie ninja.

BrandonL 07-19-2002 12:24 AM

Yeah, I've heard about that, but arn't faries really easy to kill? Also, arn't they not able to use many weapons or something?

Kakero 07-19-2002 12:28 AM

yeah , but try to train their stealth skill first in the monastery ( try searching for topics that teach you this ). that way they be harder to hit.

don't worry CoC is best weapon for faerie ninja and boomerang shuriken too.

BrandonL 07-19-2002 12:29 AM

CoC? I've seen that in another thread, what does that stand for, or is that the name of the weapon itself?

Kakero 07-19-2002 12:33 AM

CoC = cane of corpus. a very good weapon and it's only for faerie ninja only.

you can get it at Don Barlone ( lv 20 rat ) at 6th Bough at Trynton.

BrandonL 07-19-2002 12:49 AM

Hope I make it there, I just got killed right at the start by those f***ing softshelled crabs, ugh

BrandonL 07-19-2002 02:14 AM

Ok, I managed to get past those crabs, finially, ugh, anyways, what kinda armor would you suggest for this kinda character?

Bomb 07-19-2002 03:46 AM

Faerie ninja? For armor; anything he/she can use and has some AC

Then one opinion, I'd make a female character. Playing an all female group now, and each of them are wearing stamina regeneration items, female only ones, and I don't recall seeing stamina regen items, that weren't female only. I like constantly running, without having to worry about someone having low stamina in case I get into a fight.

I had some trouble in the beginning with a 3 char party, but things get a lot easier once you get some levels. After level 8 - 10 or so, Nessie has been the only thing that has caused some trouble, but I took her down on the second try, so not too much of a trouble there either. They're practically untouchable.

A pack of spell casters is the only thing that tends to worry me, mostly because they usually use spells that hit everyone, and my bishop has lowly hitpoints. Need to increase her vitality a bit on the future level ups. And once I get my samurai's and/or ninja's initiative up a notch, I can get both soul and element shield up before the enemy gets to cast. Right now the bishop gets the soul shield up easily first, but the enemy gets to cast before ninja or samurai can get element shield up, and if I get bombarded with element spells, I'm usually in trouble at that point. Luckily tho the bishop can heal herself early next round, but that means that I get haste up on the 3rd round :(

Don Barlone I had to wait till level 13 or so before killing him, because my party members couldn't hit him at level 10 (well, didn't exactly wait, my party just was at level 13 when I got back to him). Not that he was killing my party either, I just got bored after about 20 rounds and him having lost less than 50 hitpoints in that time... Too bad I didn't remember my superman potions then, would have probably been able to kill him if I had used them...

Phew, long post, and mostly off topic. I need to start conentrating more on the subject from now on ;)

Kakero 07-19-2002 10:13 AM

faeries couldn't wear anything much. as a ninja, they could wear ninja equipment sold by ferro in rapax castle. ;)

You might consider starting as a different class then changing to ninja after a couple levels. Of course you won't start with the fairy ninja starting gear, but most can be purchased later in Arnika.
