Hail All

When I entered the Rapax castle, a very big fight started, I guess round about 30 Rapax@all in the Enemylist. But they were wide spreaded over the castle (so very long pauses when these dudes walk through the corridors and you canīt see anything happen). After a while i got fight messages like "Ferros wields at courtisane" or "Rapax hit Ferros with 50HP" and so on. But these dude was too far away so I couldn heal him. After the fight i tried searching for this guy but couldnīt find him, so i believe that he is dead.

So my question is, if this is imporatant. I have heard that he can make some nice weopons (like the rapax in arnika) and he has a key.

Donīt think that i need the weopans, think mine are fine enough, but i donīt know what i would get.

My samurai has a "light" sword,a wakizashi+1 and a wristwrocket, my ranger mook has a giant sword (the one with the extended range (so he can slash from the second row like staffs)) and a hunter bow, mage&bishop have a flame staff and a wristrocket, the lord wields the demonsbane and the (demon?) bow (from the monastery),gadgeter has his omnigun mark9 (at the moment) and the rest of his gadgets.

The problem is that i havenīt saved for a long time before so, do i miss something if i continue playing?

Well if Ferro is dead, that's tough luck. He can not only make excellent custom items, but also sells very good armor and weapons in his store. If I were you I'd reload. ;)

Davros 02-05-2002 07:50 AM

So would I - and stay away from Ferro until you are sure you can either reach him, or beat all the red dots. Go become a templar first, then you can deal with him whenever you want to.

Solomon 02-05-2002 08:47 AM

I would:

A. Reload

and

B. Save Often!

MaskedFrog 02-05-2002 09:27 AM

The custom weapons are nice but not vital. However he is the only source for some very good armor and ammunition. I had a portal set right to him so I could restock ammunition whenever I needed to.

I highly recommend the reload.

BTW - The same thing happened to me and I had to reload back to Rapax Rift and go through the courtyard again. After this happened I turned on the Autosave feature.

Marcos The Black 02-05-2002 09:38 AM

ehm
if iīm honest i had the last save game weeks ago, i think somewhere in the bayin
iīm normally using the quicksave and quick load, which i hit rather often, so when the fight was over i quicksaved, and then quicksaved several times (i had forgotten, the ferros guy after the fight so i started exploring te castle. the autosaves saves evers 5minutes or so, so this is overwritten too.

Why in the world do the Rapaxs kill Ferro in the first place?

Warhammer 02-05-2002 09:54 AM

Chimera:
Weirdiness of the game combat engine. Ferro is Friendly, the Rapax are Hostile. In combat the party and all Friendlies fight the Hostile.

Same thing happened in Arnika: Higardi Patrol fighting Bank Guards.

I think this is nearly a bug in general, itīs so often, that a fight is started also i canīt see enemy for the next 3 rounds.

or e.g. at one place where the gargoylething attacks you after opening the door in the rapax level (2levels before the castle, donīt know the name of this map). some dudes stood on an bridge over my path, and the fighting engine started the fight, although neither they not i could attack each other, cause of the higher position you couldnīt aim at them

I definitly was aware of the problem last week when I went into rapax castle. That being said I was looking for ferro immediatly, and of course a fight broke out on my way to visit him. I made a point of running each turn so I could work my way to ferro and protect him. the fight started in the main hallway not close, but when I noticed red dots moving toward his green dot, I knew I had to save him before I was in this same "ferroless" boat. worked out well, a few dulcimers of mending during battle and he was ready to sell me the "good" stuff and make a few custom items.......

Just too bad I finished acension peak before 3 days passed and he had completed my ivory blade

Actually, Ferro and Antone both only take 1 day to finish an item, even if you give them more than one item's worth of stuff (i.e. everything for the Vampire Chain and Mirror Armor) at one time.

When I found Ferro (post-Templar quest), I set a portal at him, portaled back to Arnika to get all the stuff I'd been collecting for him, portaled back to Ferro and gave it all to him - enough for all three items - and then I went exploring. About the time I finished exploring the rest of that level and the other two levels of the Castle he was done with all three of my new weapons. Of course, I only got one speech out of him per visit so on my first visit to him after buying all three of the items I got the speech about the 2nd item being ready and I had to go in and double-check to make sure that there wasn't another copy of it (would have been nice to have 2 Vamp Chains) and then I realized what had happened. Same thing happened again when I went back for my next visit.

Antone does the same thing.

actually my problem was, that i didnīt had ferros on my radar (even in the zoomed out version)so i didnīt know where to run at

Marcos The Black 02-05-2002 06:25 PM

forgot one point, what are the items and their stats, you could get from ferros, and what about the key i heard of.

think i can live without the ammution, i prefer close combat, and ranged combat with magic

The key is for his armory safe but I don't recall what was in it. Nothing special as I recall.

The items he makes are:

Ivory Blade - +5 Init, +4 To Hit, 6-30 Dam, Haste Lvl 3, 1%KO
Vampire Chain - +3 Init, +3 To Hit, 5-30 Dam, 100% Stamina Drain
Mirror Armor - +14AC, 44 lbs, +20 Fire Res., +20 Earth Res.

Mirror Armor magically reflects physical attacks. Although the wearer still takes damage normally, any damage done to the Mirror Armor is also returned back to the attacker. (Spells and missile attacks are not reflected.)

Perhaps, you can use a game editor to 'bring back' Ferrio? I have never used one myself, but this seems like a good example of the kind of problem they can fix easily. While he may not be nessisary to finish the game, he sells a lot of very nice stuff, and makes custom items. You can also give him an item you find in the castle and get [something] in return, I'm not sure if you can get that [something] otherwise.

Not to mention, he has a cool deep voice and has an intresting Rapax point of view on a lot of current events.

Marcos The Black 02-07-2002 04:33 AM

Damn, this items sound really good.

I have no idea how to edit a savegame to alter something. I think there is an editor in the net which can change attributes and items wearing.

But thanks for the infos, think i will finish with this party without reloading. Maybe Iīll meet Ferro in the next run ;)
