i need help removing a curse from an already equipped dagger. yah! the poison dagger. lol!
i have a scroll for removing it. so, i hurry into inventory, click use and then a window comes up (taking me OUT of my mage's paperdoll window. wah!) and up comes the ubiquitous 'carried inventory' window. since it's 'equipped inventory' and NOT carried, it doesn't appear on the list, either personal or group (duh!). ack! there MUST be a way to uncurse a weapon already equipped. please help! V***V |
i dunno what the problem.. but to use it, get someone with a decent skill in artifacts (i think) use it and click on the member with the cursed item(s) just click on the potrait will do.
|
I equipped that weapon once LOL.
Yeah, someone with an artifacts skill can use the scroll to get the dagger out of your hand. :D |
I _still_ use the poison dagger (and I am level 14 for my Rogue). It's a nice dagger since it invokes poison quite frequently (well it could be that my little fella hits so frequently with those x2 attacks)!
But to get it removed, I believe a Bishop can do it automatically (dunno for sure, don't have one in the party), and if ya don't have a priest who is high enough to cast it on ya - then have whoever can read the scroll, then it turns into a question mark, then click on that person's picture (where it shows everyone who is with you). And it should say that they've been freed of the curse. |

it doesn't work!!!!!!!! my bard has a skill of 47 in artifacts, and i still get the carried stuff window only!!!!!!!!! i CANT get into my mage's equipped window to uncurse it!!!!!!!!! this is making me crazy. i have been trying for the last 4 days to get this thing out of her hand, and it won't come out. no matter what!!! (if my mermory doesn't fail me :D ) try it. |

this is my teensy little faerie mage we're talking about here! LOL. if she is close enough to use a poison dagger on someone, she's prolly been squished before she gets to use it. and i have no bishops in my party. i know they can do that, but that's not a good enough reason for me to have a bishop. they make me uncomfortable. V***V |
The way I did it was to have my Bishop use the scroll through the main window out of his inventory...a question mark popped up to click on the picture of the character I needed to uncurse and I clicked on the mage. A message came up saying that he could now remove cursed items!
If this doesn't work for you, someone with more technical knowledge will have to come along 'cause I'd be stumped! I was able to use the Bishop's power to uncurse a chainmail off of my Samurai later in the game but I used the option in the inventory window and don't remember what happened next! that's exactly what i have been doing. but as soon as my bard "uses" the scroll, the inventory window closes. then i am in the main game window, with a trade screen at the bottom and the only things i can select from are what is in the bard's personal inventory or the entire group's inventory. it won't let me pick my mage's equipped items. gaaaah! V***V |
LOL! I think April explained what Moni and I were trying to say more clearly...
Because that should do it. |

Anyone with a skill in artifacts can use it. I just have a Bishop for the potential of having more power at the end of the game than I considered a Priest to be able to offer. V's remedy through the inventory screen isthe way I was unable to uncurse my Samurai...one way or the other ought to work for you as long as you get the question mark...you might need a higher skill in artifacts but I would doubt that. Good Luck getting it uncursed! I am off to study and defrag my HD so I won't be back for a while. |

You know what, it might require a caster of some kind to read it. (I don't have a bard and I always cast Identify before equipping anything to see if cursed.... but the only person who I had use the scrolls were my priest... and she used the remove curse (she already had the spell) simply to save mana. Maybe it's going to the trade window because Bards can't do it?
|
u know what, i just tried it.. i have a bard too.. when it pops u out from the inventory screen... with the personal items, party items screen below... don't worry abt that..
just click on the character potrait u want to uncurse. |

OMG! thank you! thank you! i guess i thot since the trade window opened, i HAD to use it. anyway, following your advice, i ignored it and picked my mage and it worked! it was uncursed. i took it out of her teeny little hand and she breathed a huge sigh of relief. as a matter of fact, i'm gonna let the priest give her a little massage, cuz her fingers are all curled up tight. poor little thing. she really didn't like how that cursed dagger made her leap into the faces of the baddies. we just finished off a big old group of picuses and she was screaming the whole time. (that bugger's face was about the size of her entire body!) aaahhhh! much better! and i hope i learned my lesson. ::repeats over and over:: id first, then equip. id first, then equip. id first, then equip. V***V <----- OMG!! I have become the ELMONSTER! :D (apologies to lovers of Elminster) |
Alriiight!
Now give her little hand a good massage, apologize to her and then go out and kick some monster tail! ;) So glad you got the problem solved! :D |
no problem..
hey vesselle, if u haven't noticed yet.. u can't ID the cursed status of a cursed item.. i never did... if u want to know u just have to use the "save and reload" option... how to tell if an item is cursed or not.. the obvious one will be those with "negative" effects, say the cap of wiles... with an Ac of -4 but +10 int.. i knew it would be cursed.. as u play along u can roughly gauge which items are likely be cursed and which are not... :D |
~~april~~
aha! so, my priestess, who can id everything with a quick snap of her fingers, won't be able to id a cursed item? well then, that's a good way for me to know it's cursed! LOL! btw, i have these dumb rules in my game involving save/reloads. when something happens, i just bear with it and work it out ingame. (for me, that's what turns sirtech's story into my story) i think the only time i reloaded was when i wanted to see if i could walk over the edge of the bridge in trynton. i had noticed that sirtech had done a great job of making barriers along places that you might break your neck if you mis-stepped .... so i hadda test it! LOLOL! heh that one place, you CAN walk off the bridge and die a horribly, messy, disgusting and very loud death! (imagine 7 women and Myles, screaming all the way down! the shrillness would make your brain implode!) V***V |
I identify cursed items all the time, and they show that they are cursed. You just need to have sufficient skill.
|
Um, I ID cursed items all the time as well.

I am in the upper monestry. Is the scroll somewhere in the area or do I need to wait for a lot longer? He was going so well with his bow and arrows too. My last save without the dagger is way back grrrrrrr thanks for any help |
I don't recall if I ever found one, but I did buy one in Arnika

WOOHOO!! glad to see you're playing!! about the scroll... i didn't "find" it either :( but i did pickpocket it off of burz. i don't know about pickpocketing... but i have a feeling its randomized from a certain set of variables, based on what's turning up in a dungeon. someone with the smarts could prolly correct me on that. anyway, i would bet that if you found a cursed item, you can find a scroll of uncursing somewhere near you. since you're in the monastery, try Good Ol' Burz... never a better time to try your stealing skills too. also... if you don't find it there, you may wanna think about reloading from earlier. the monastery is great for building up your ranger's skills in long range... also go into your options and enable auto save. at least if you do that, you will have a closer save than the one from 2 days ago ;) |
if you put an item of unknown cursed status in your alternate weapons slots, the status will be shown, but you'll still be able to remove the item. minor bug/feature o~-(=^)
