Alright folks. Graphically, for the sound, whatever reason, what's your favorite area of the game.

Min epersonally is still Trynton. Those giant trees and the ocean off the cliff and how it waves....that's just gravy!

I liked Arnika, but only because of the soundtrack there.

Vaprakgruumsh 12-09-2001 01:17 PM

Because of graphics, Tryton has been my favorite. But as mentioned, Arnika has its own music which is very cool. That's the only thing I am bummed about. Wish each place had its own music. I took the mp3's and burned them onto a CD and typically listen to it if I am a creative mood (for writing)!

No absolutely stunning areas yet, they are all very good and so is the accompaning music. Graphics wise, the T'rang transporter area is probably the prettiest to look at. And a thumbs up to the Umpani mine area, not just straight hallways but uneven floors, nice touch.

Trynton for me. I love Trynton's theme.

I dunno... I kinda like the mines area and Bayjin, although the heights in Trynton *still* give me the willies. :D

I like the 3D engine. I can't say it's top-notch, but with my Athlon XP +1500 and Leadtek GeForce 2 GTS/Hercules GeForce 3 Ti 500(borrowed for the review) the movement is silky-smooth.

And this game reminds me of MM6 - which I wrote the strategy guide for a game magazine. But Wizardry 8 is a lot better IMHO!

Trhynton for me as well, i like the graphics in that zone, it just looks way cool, as for the worst zone, then i would have to say the swamp, i find the colors there plainly disgusting.

Stonyclaws 12-11-2001 06:12 PM

Must say I'm kind of fond of the swamp. Very moody, especially at sunrise. But for shear beauty I like the upper mine area and the long walk uphill overlooking the swamp. Very cool indeed.

Mt. Gigas caves for me. Especially outside the General's Quarters.

All those little flashing lights just tell me that I'd better not make one false move.

steelcow 12-11-2001 07:35 PM

I'm going to have to agree with Skrewloose for now.

I rather enjoy the Umpani Base Camp and the associated Mt. Gigas Caves, probably because of all the order and labelling that is present. All the buildings, most the hallways and many doors have nice little signs. It's so clean and orderly it always makes feel comfortable wherever I happen to be.

I enjoy the mines for its mountain-top scenery, but I also enjoy both the North and SE Wilderness. The bridges (steel and wood) in the North and the gazebo on the beach with palm trees in the background in the SE are both very memorable.

There are still a handful of locations I need to visit, so maybe another favorite will jump up and grab me eventually.

I'd have to Go with the SouthEast wilderness Church, the Rapax High Priestess area of the Rift (love those reflections), or Al-Sedexus' Temple area (The ceiling in there is gorgeous). As for more general areas, I really liked the Mountain wilderness trail, and coming down out of it to the big waterfall. Amazing areas overall.. The light shining through the windows near the monastary exit was also nice.

In the begginning I felt the same way. But yesterday I got stuck in the middle of something else and left the game running. After about 10 minutes I felt strangely relaxed. The reason was because the background sounds were of the gentle patter of rain hitting the forest canopy. It was very soothing and changed my whole feeling toward the area.
