Hi,

Just a warning here folks, I sincerely hope you are talking about the demo and not a pirated copy of the game.

Regardless if you are just "talking" about it, I suggest you discontinue this. Ziroc has already been very adamant about anyone asking about a pirated copy. Its illegal, just plain bad taste a totally rotten thing to do considering that this game was made with a very limited budget.

Not to mention the Curries hanging out here, but I think the most pirateers have to worry about are the angry players who have a waited a long time for this game and appreciate all the hard work that went into this.

Please stop this discussion NOW - I don't have to remind you of the consequences.

If this is a misunderstanding, then I apologize in advance.

Scronan, I think Megabot is asking if someone in the USA will purchase the game for him because he is unable to get it where he is from. In fact, he has said that he does not want an illegal copy of the game. He is willing to pay someone to purchase the game for him and mail it to him.

Scronan 12-02-2001 12:44 PM

Hi Lady Avalon,

I know that Megabot was simply asking about how to get the game in another country - and there is nothing wrong with that at all.

But another poster mentioned an FTP site - so I have just issued a warning that posters shouldn't mention that they know a place where a pirated copy can or could have been acquired.

Megabot, here's some info from EB's International shipping info page...It is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain verification information from banks outside of the US and Canada. All customers outside of the US and Canada must contact their credit card issuing bank and ask them to release address verification information to EBgames.com. Without this verification we will be unable to process your International order.

And here's their customer service # and hours.

If you don't find what you need here, feel free to call our Customer Service center at 1-877-432-9675 to speak with a Customer Service
Representative. Hours of operation: everyday 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. (EST)

It sound like you've already paid for the game, seems a shame to have to buy it twice. Might give these a shot before you shell out again.

You know whats sad. This is probably the number 1 cause of piracy. All these people in other countries who get totally jacked on waiting for the game. I can't find it in me to blame such a person one bit for trying to download the game early then pay for it later when it comes out. I bet what happens though is people try and pirate it because they can't even buy it for like 2 months but then when it comes out they feel no real compulsion to go to the store and actually pay for it. American console game retailers must be thanking the gods that very few americans can read japaneese or we'd have the same problem here.

It is sad. I'm dead set against piracy, but don't distributors realize that they are shooting themselves in the foot when don't do an international release? At least for the english versions of games, this should be a no-brainer. I understand that translations can take time. But ENgland and Australia are SCREAMING for this game, and getting no love, not to mention English speaking gamers in the rest of the world.

Megabot,
This is good idea to ask somebody in USA to buy the game for you (unless you solve the problem with EB, of course), because it's too long to wait for its European release :( .
I was lucky - my friend who now resides in USA came to visit her parents, so she bought Wiz8 for me and brought it herself (it was only yesterday, actually, and since yesterday I do nothing except playing ). It seems that the only way to purchase the game now if you don't live in USA and cannot buy it through internet is to ask somebody to buy it in USA and then mail/bring (if there's occasion) it to you. Hope you'll get the game soon!

Mage of Mystra, dear, please, do not speak again about ftp links and such - not because of the Curries or Ziroc (with all my respect to them), but because it is just dishonest and it is stealing (you know - it's like "Do not steal not because you can be cough, but because this is dishonourable"). I am quite sure that you, or anybody else here won't even think about going to the shop and steal something there, we should understand that getting illegal copy is equal to abovementioned shoplifting, it is an ugly action. :(

Merkin,
I agree with you absolutely.
BTW, WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

Hi all. I live in Mexico. I have purchased games via the Internet with my Credit Card from Chips and Bits, Gamestop and some other places. But EB had a long story of cancelled orders because they never got any confirmation of my bank about my address blah blah blah, so I ended buying the games somewhere else, but this time, the 2 games I wanted (Wiz8 and Gothic) were sold exclusively by EB. I live a couple hours drive below Texas, so there is always someone or myself going to the USA and get the games for me. This time, however, amazingly, EB made two shipments to me: Wizardry 8 and Gothic. I don't know if it was because I insisted so much ( I even called them long distance) or finally they got the information they wanted from my bank. I hope they did for this means I finally have a valid account with them.
So, yes... buying from EB outside the USA is very difficult.

OFFICIAL RULING

Unless you are speaking of the download site for the demo OR the patch files, any discussions regarding FTP sites where the game may be obtained illegally, REGARDLESS of whether the post contains a link or other contact information of said site, will be promptly closed and/or deleted, and the members involved will be remanded to Ziroc with a recommendation that their accounts will be terminated and that they be banned from Ironworks.

This is SERIOUS. This is NOT a WAREZ site, nor will we tolerate discussion about WAREZ. Being that this discussion has just come up in the past couple of weeks, I would have thought that this issue was settled once and for all.
