Whats the best Armour for a tank in BG2?
Whats the lowest Armour Class you can get on a monk? Hope you can help! |
(pos. spoiler)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . the best i've found is the red dragon scale armour 9from killing firkragg). i think in underdark there's some really powerful stuff but i haven't got that far yet. also you can get some nice armour using the limited wish spell and selecting a one time wish for a magical item - it's full plate+2, so that's a -2 AC. hope that helps! the red dragon scale from firkraag is the best armor
the drow armor is -5 if I remember correct, but... ur can only use it in the Underdark (everybody knows that i suppose) |
Drow full plate +5
Also some green armour I found shortly after leaving the underdark. It's plate mail. Does anyone know what I mean? |
I'd say Elven chain mail+2..because bards and fighter/mages can use it and still cast spells!

Do you mean the Gorgon Plate +4? You get it off the Matron Mother in Ust Natha. It has 15% acid and fire protection, I think. The best armour would indeed be the Drow Full Plate +5 and for mage/thieves and the like, the Drow Adamantine Chain +5. End of game spoiler: ' ' ' ' ' In Suldanesselar you can get the Bladesinger Chain +4, which is probably the best bard/mage-thief armour. A very good armour nobody mentioned yet: The Armour of the Hart +3 |
Drow full plate +5, red scale plate, Baldurian.

BTW Tob SPOILER! ** * * * * * * * * * * * * Which armour is it Cespenar ca upgrade with a protection from normal weapons scroll? EDIT: Oh, you asked for a tank?! Well, if I had read through your question carefully at first I might have seen that Well, in that case: Full plate armour+ring of protection +2... I just noticed you can't have red dragon and the ring at the same time i ToB.. :( |

my vote goes to the Red Dragon Scale. add a Ring of Fire Control and a Helmet of Defense/Dragon Helm and let the Fireballs rip . send your tank right in the middle of the inferno and watch the warm flames heal him!
|
Where do you upgrade the dragon scales to armour? Do you need any other items?
|
Melusine, i was going to say the armor of the hart. But (SPOILER BOUT FIRKRAAG'S ARMOR) in ToB, the ring bonus gets fixed, so take it off, and its permanetly gone.
|
sigh. as with all but a very few items in SoA, cromwell will do the honours. its not cheap, but then what is.
the few items that cromwell wont do, you might need cespenar who is only available much, much later, or maybe the bloke in the promenade who is good at horns. and while were on TOB, imm curently in White Dragon Scale, which is better i think. ive got Red Dragon Scale on jaheria, but shes only on -4, so im thinking i need to improve it. maybe the legendary Big Metal Unit. nah, can get the components. |
Best AC for MOnk- i know if u have 18 dex, u start with AC1, u lose 1 AC for every level up, and u can wear rings, cloaks etc. of prtoection just not gaunlets of defence or armour (inclusive of sheilds and halmets).
SO... Porbably -10 because lower than that is hard to achieve according to the manual... |

I don't have ToB yet, but I don't like the idea of anything being permanently gone. Please explain. |
I think the dragon red scale mail is the best armour in the game, i havent gotten that far though... so dont trust me
|
For a tank type, in BG2: SoA, definately Red Dragon scale is best. Good armor, which isn't considered as magical and thus you can add some neato other gear to your char.
Up and until that, and after that, Full Plate will also do. It's best usual non-magic platemail, which will - again - let you use the rings and cloaks and so on. Magic armor and all that is nice, but the restrictions really... well you know what. |
I do not get it...
A fighter with red dragon mail, a ring of fire resistance and the dragon helm (with the fire resistance) actually heals the fighter amids a fireball??? How come... ? Greetings Flits3 |
Let us assume that your Fire Resistance is 120%.
The max you are allowed in ToB is 127%. I forgot what the max is in SoA. Let us then assume that you get hit by a Fireball that deals 100 Fire Damage. You will heal 20 Hp, thanks to the excess of the 20%. |
possible spoiler
- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - the big metal unit would have to be the best armour in the game it turns u into a golem and i believe u can actually get it in the game without editing |

That armour is almost cheating. I put it on with the ring prot+2,gaxx ring, shield +4, that sewar robe and my elf f/t came out with an AC of -14. I don't think anything can hit me anymore....
|
I f you have TOB installed, the Red Dragon Plate will not allow Ring of Fire Protection. Sigh!
|

Right, Dundee, I just checked. My Cavalier has 110% fire protection with Red Dragon Plate+ Ring of Fire Protection. Was going to edit my post, but you beat me to it. Sorry! P.S. Best armor in BGII is Shurrupak's Plate, AC:-2, adds+1 to DEX,, and 20% Fire Protection. Dundee, I notice you wore it in your solo finale post.
|
Indeed I did,
ToB Spoiler ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Cavaliers have 20% Fire Resistance, I gained another 20% from a Tear of Bhaal, another 20% from the Helmet of Defence, 20% from the Shuruppak's Armour. This gave me 80%, and I can boost it to 100%+ with other equipment like shields or scrolls or potions. |
What is the adamantine chain?
|
you can only get the big metal unit if you play your character from BGI right through too ToB if you don't want to edit.
SPOILER . . . . . . . . you know the Golden pantaloons in the FAI? well you gotta have those too. |
Um if your a monk theres a nice little bug in the game which allows you to wear the Firecam Plate Armour which Keldorn posseses. Hehe always good to get your AC down :D
