Great news! You helped me immensely in W&W. Many thanks.

vesselle 11-22-2001 09:11 PM

~~zignal~~

im speechless. that's so great!

you have it set up the way i think they should all be set up. with links from words thru out your description, so that if i want more info, it's my choice to go read it or not.

i have nothing but respect for players who can not only play the game, but do something like this to help out everyone else.

i can't thank you enough for all the hard work you are puttin into this.

Very nicely done xignal! Thanks for the walkthru.

If u don't mind, i would like to suggest something. Do u think it a little to cumbersome to have a summary of the *important* items the party shld have after every major area?

thanks

Ian Currie 11-23-2001 01:17 PM

What a GREAT job... this is going to be very popular... :)

Linda's very impressed also...

Very, very nice walkthrough. I like the way you linked the screenshots into it.

the_young_one 11-23-2001 10:41 PM

Excellent. Thank you Xignal for putting your time and effort into helping other gamers.

Xignal 11-24-2001 08:40 AM

April,

Great idea. I'll do my best to add gadgeteer and special items lists at the ends of the walk-throughs, but since I'm solving the game in sequence I may miss something needed later. I'll depend on y'all to point them out to me so I can add them in.

Annihilator 11-24-2001 09:35 AM

this walkthough is really cool but what about other parts? will they be published soon because i got stuck in trynton(can't find the Marten's Bluff) and missed some important items,i.e.to gain access to weird places.

The walkthrough on my site (linked above) is further along but not nearly as detailed. Marten's Bluff is a separate area off the Swamp, as shown in the manual's map.

~~analander~~

okay, now you've gone and done it!

your section for Gadgeteer stuff alone is worth it's weight in gold! i had to make the hard cuts in team members and pretty much decided to set aside the gadgeteer, but seeing those lil goodies she can make, i am, once again, revamping my party setup!

::crumples up her old list and tosses it in the ever growing pile behind her chair::

Vesselle...don't reform your party. Pick up Madras instead in Trynton...he's the best NPC gadgeteer you can get soon on. ;)

Just posted the Trynton walk-through. Those of you who can already walk around Trynton with all 16 eyes closed please let me know what I missed.

Okay, lessee, first of all...SPOILER ALERT!!!!!

1) it's Chief "Gari", not "Cari"
2) Remember to mention the riddle fountain in front of the sanctuary. The answer is "Memory", which nets you 1000 XP, +5 INT, and a spellbook (Detect Secrets, I think)

Other than that, looks great!

Oh, and BTW...congrats on being made a mod!

Cheers,

Xignal 11-25-2001 02:30 PM

Thanks, Saz. Working on it now.

Done.

John Doe 11-26-2001 03:10 PM

The walkthrough ROCKS!
How I hate the feeling of having missed something.

One thing only, wouldn't it be nicer to include the screenshots directly instead of linking to a seperate page?

Chris

Dan Speziale 11-26-2001 03:18 PM

This is wonderful stuff. Thank you for putting this on your site!

Very nicely done, too.

Dan

Xignal 11-26-2001 05:03 PM

John Doe,

I did it this way to conserve bandwidth for those who use dial-up. This method lets you click on just the graphics you want to see, such as a map or a specific street intersection, without waiting for a long time to load everything and without cluttering the screen.

Example: the walk-through for Arnika is 7KB; if all of the screenshots were included it would be 723KB!

Syrin 11-28-2001 02:30 PM

Way to go! What amazes me the most is the speed with which you update the areas. 2 days ago Trynton wasn't even started and now all the way through Marten's Bluff.. Impressive

Sazerac 11-28-2001 02:53 PM

Xignal: going to make the thread "sticky" so it'll be easier for people to find for help. ;)

Cheers,
-Sazerac (also, Analander's link is in this thread as well, and he's got a terrific site, too!)

catzenpewters 11-28-2001 03:27 PM

This is WONDERFUL! Thank you so much - it will be a great help to me.

A question about your maps - is there a way to make them lighter, as they're a bit hard to read?

And one absolutely IDEAL thing would be a place to download the walkthroughs and maps so I could print 'em out!

Thanks again for your efforts! My team will not doubt survive better thanks to you! :)

Xignal 11-28-2001 06:12 PM

Catz,

I'll try to set up a download area (with a link to 'lighter' maps) this weekend. I'll post here when it becomes available. [It's a bit of work to download to and configure my FTP public access folder]

Thanks for the support, all!

Regards,

catzenpewters 11-28-2001 06:18 PM

Thank you SOOOO much Xignal! May the Wizardry gods bless you!!!

Melvin Lumbardy 11-29-2001 03:04 PM

I agree wholeheartly with a responses to your walkthrough. My comment is that you should go into the consulting business and teach the so-called Official Strategy Guide publishers how it should be done. Bravo.

John Doe 12-01-2001 09:32 AM

Two Questions regarding your good walkthrough:

- Why not visiting Croc the instant you enter the swamp? He has
good items for sale.

- There is a T'Rang Samurai NPC mentioned in "the other walkthrough"
who was supposed to be in the mine tunnels. I couldn't find him,
though. Did I miss something in the carthouse? I found four
possible routes only.

Chris

John Doe 12-01-2001 01:22 PM

Do you mean the guy who wouldn't talk to me initially?

So I met him already?

Chris

Xignal 12-01-2001 02:28 PM

Yes, that's him - the one in the small cave.

Xignal 12-01-2001 04:33 PM

Catz,

Posted the maps to my FTP server (after lightening them). They print out very nicely now. You can download the whole shebang as one large ZIP or view each one individually as a JPG within your browser.

Here's the link: http://www.volberding.com/Wizardry8/Wiz8AllMaps.htm

analander 12-01-2001 05:25 PM

Full walkthrough (still sketchy, but hopefully enough to help where you may be stuck) and all maps are now complete. Also rune puzzle solution, item and spell lists, and class data.

Downloaded the maps, Xignal, thanks! They're great! Muchly appreciated!!!

Meriadoc Brandybuck 12-03-2001 05:05 AM

very nice stuff!

WoW helps me much on my hang-on!

great work u've done - thx for sharing it with us :D

Daenery 12-06-2001 02:25 AM

My oh my. That is just unbelievable. I only read went as far as I am in the game but, wow. Awesome job =)

Xignal 12-09-2001 09:42 AM

Added the "Cemetery Easter Egg Dungeon" as a link on the main page. Spike traps, teleporter squares, and wall section outlines - very retro. Really took me back to the early Wizardry years. For those adventurous folks - have fun down there!

john 12-09-2001 02:52 PM

Wow I just started the game an hour ago and got a little confused figuring out the interface this is a great help thanks guys!!!But how come when I print it I only get the highlighted words!!?Thanks again..John

Xignal 12-09-2001 03:09 PM

John,

If you're having problems printing from your browser you can try copying the text to the clipboard and then paste it into Notepad, Wordpad, or any word processor.

If anyone else is having similar printing difficulties let me know and I can set up a Zip download of MS Word document versions (vs HTML).

vesselle 12-09-2001 03:39 PM

do the Word Doc, do the Word Doc!!
