unless they role a 20, but that obviously doesnt happen too often.

Good show, -31. Whooowee http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

My Viconia has an armor class of -14.
AC versus missiles that you have is great, but you could just buy the shield of reflection.

Nanobyte 07-19-2001 02:35 PM

Try setting the difficulty to maximum. It will seem that your enemies get critical strikes a lot more often http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

IntrospectiveIdeals 07-19-2001 04:29 PM

Yeah you are right, but there are so many brilliant shields aren't there, and really apart from its reflecting benefits it is a very poor shield.

I'm on chapter 3 and at the moment I'm using a shield I got from a quest in trademeet (forget the name of it)

AC 3

Immune to: Charm, Domination, Fear, Confusion, and it basically gives me this thing called MIND SHIELD

trux 07-19-2001 04:31 PM

As far as fighting the thieves go, just watch out for backstabs - they'll get ya. (helpful hint: if you happen to have a barbarian they are immune to backstab.)

my jaheira has an AC of -8 but it doesn't compare to yours!!! wow!

Daniel 02-14-2002 07:11 PM

-25 is the lowest you can get and I have had it, oh yes (TOB required)

Level 34 Cavalier, 23 DEX, The Big Metal unit, Ring of protection +3, ring of Gaxx, Dark Steel Shield and the Cloak of the Sewers(most people get rid of it and but the armour class bonus doesn't affect ofther magic items, so you can wear it with rings of protection, magic armour etc). Now you know what it feels like to literally be armoured like a tank.

jabidas 02-14-2002 07:11 PM

Anyone who has played ToB may know the pantaloon conclusion, all I have to say about that is Muhahahahahahaha.

PoesRaven 02-14-2002 07:46 PM

Jaihera with -18 is my best (that was with my skalds bardsong of course)

I suspect this is one of those trick posts, that leaves out the presence of defense-affecting items, courtesy of Shadowkeeper, or attribute-boosting books from BG1, etc. :D

Now, for your next lesson, explain to us why you feel it necessary to bragg, here, about something so insignificant as one's accomplishments in a game. ;)

Huh? How the heck does a Cavalier get 23 DEX?
Roll an 18, +1 from the Tome in BG1, +1 from the Machine of Lum the Mad, -1 in Hell, +1 from Yaga-Shura's armor, +1 from one of the Ioun Stones (forget which). That makes 21, and leaves you without a helmet. What am I leaving out?

Dundee Slaytern 02-14-2002 11:11 PM

Bah... use Draw Upon Holy Might and get 25 DEX... booyah... ...

Lord Ludtke 02-15-2002 01:33 AM

-17 is the best sustainable AC you can get in SoA. Sustainable meaning forever, not buffed with spells, or using armour that turns to dust in the next chapter.

As for AC against missile weapons, I would suspect a suped up monk would take the crown, but I have no idea what that would be.

valdor 02-15-2002 02:11 AM

I cant remember the exact name of the shield you get in trademeet, with all of the great abilities, but i believe it is something like the Shield of Universal Harmony

I've worked this one out before, here goes:

level 40 monk has base AC of -11 including bonus for DEX.
Ring of Gaxx = +2 (-13)
Ring of earth control = +1 (-14)
Dak'kon's Zerth Blade = +1 (-15)
Lavender loun stone = +1 (-16)

Therefore Standard AC excluding AC modifiers is -16 - this is not the best AC for a monk, I have selected items that will give the best missile AC.....

And add missile adjustment/equipment:

Missile AC adjustment = -1 every 3 levels = -13 @ level 40 (-29)
Shield Amulet = +2 VS missiles (-31)
Cloak of Displacement = +4 VS missiles (-35)
Girdle of Piercing = +3 VS missile (-38)
Boots of Avoidance = +5 VS missile (-43)
Firecam armour Adjustment = +3 VS missile (-46)

Gives AC -46!!

Of course, you can then add defensive harmony, bard songs etc but this is sustained.

...Which only goes to prove what we've been saying all along: that the guy who started this thread was making it up as he went along; and bragging about a ridiculous non-accomplishment, even if he had been right. :D

23 Is my base Dex not including dex raising items
Before BG2 came out I played through BG1 a heck of a lot of times collecting all the Tomes multiple times trying to create the hardest character I could(Mainly for multi player duals). Thats just the Sad sort of person I am.

Hey, you said it. We didn't. ;)

It kinda ruins the fun though, doesn't it? I mean, the more buffed a character is, the less the challenge, and the less the thrill of victory when you succeed. I'd rather here stories about how somebody survived an attack of four deadly creatures with most of their party dead and all magic exhausted, AC at -7, than how a god destroyed a city without effort.

This is just one of my characters my bit of fun character.
I am currently soloing through with an assassin. I too prefer a challenging game but due to the nature of the thread (being highest AC) I didn't think it was necessary to state my character with the weakest armour class.

not at all. i've always wanted to be god in rl, but havent managed to pull it off yet. so i act out my fantasy in my games, what else are they for. if i wanted to go through an epic tale of the underdog triumphing over adversity i would walk out the door and the computer be damned.
