Iam currently creating a game with DC, named Kingdoms of Zordo. I will be posting
the proccess of it every week! (Believe me, its pretty cool!) |
Awesome. I look forward to hearing more about and seeing some previews. :D
|
First stage was completed, including: The first 2 areas (Fludon village, SinaF's Castle), some items created, XP table.
These are important questions that need to be answered if we want Kingdoms of Zordo to be finished so, please anyone who knows, post answers. 1) Is there anything like a revive point where u can revive ur dead characters? 2) Is there any newer version of DC, than 0.9130? 3) Can someone play a project created with DC, without having DC? (or is there a setup compiler?) I would also want to make a question about spells, cause rpg without mages, simply not good! Its a lil bit difficult to create spells so, could anyone make a guide or smt like that? [ 12-01-2006, 07:06 AM: Message edited by: ffan ] |

thnx manikus! Helped a lot! (I'll post what ive recently created in 10 hours, currently designing!)
|
3rd area completed (Sludin Village). The game is played in 3 kingdoms. Pas- Dagre, Dhion, Platin.
The current areas are for the first kingdom. If you want you want you can post your ideas for other areas, items or whatever. :D [ 12-02-2006, 01:43 AM: Message edited by: ffan ] |
What genre is your design?
What are the kingdoms like? How large are they? What races of beings live in this world? How important is magic? :D :D :D :D :D |
1) RPG. BIIIG fan of it!
2)As i said, there are 3 kingdoms with 5 areas each of it. (but not very sure about it) 3)I liked the starting races so i left them as they were. As for the monsters, will be plenty of it 4)It is very important as clerics, psions, magic users use magic as their basic attack, defence etc... |
Um, sorry I was unclear on the first questin, I meant whether it would be fantasy or science fiction, that kind of thing. :D
What's the setting? Is it AD&D? Forgotten Realms? A world of your own creation? Are the monsters your own creation? Or, are they goblins and orcs and dragons and the such? |
It is a fantasy game, and it uses the D&D rules. As for the monsters, i have added some of the preset, but also a lot of mine! ;)
|
Hello ffan,
are you already participating in the DC Art contest? Otherwise you should as long as it is possible! [Wink] By the way I would really like to know how large those areas are (e.g. Sludin Village) - it is most impressive that you are able to finish one area in one day. Are you able to show a few screenshots? |
some areas are small and some others big. Sludin is a medium sized area, Fludon a small village(where u start) and Sinafs Castle a lil bit big.
As for sceenshots i will be able to post some in a few days |
Just how small is 'small' and how big is 'big'? :D How many squares by how many squares? How many events? How many quests?

Yep, that was exactly what I wanted to ask, Manikus.
Here are some images from my current project. http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/3...ecastlesj1.png http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/6760/greycitymp7.png http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/6554/lichki4.png http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/8...facesp0.th.png |

Dinonykos, I have just one word for you. Wow. :D
Those all look really great. You have set the bar higher for the rest of us. The week before you relased your new wall format, I had made some signs for shops. I'm going to redo them in your wall format so that they may look half as decent as yours. :D Maybe, I can even get around to posting an image or two...you never know. |
Absolutely gorgeous. Any chance you will be releasing any of that artwork to the community in general at any point? Perhaps after you finish whatever project it is you are working on?

Thanks for the commendation!
Perhaps Manikus could host some walls and backgrounds of mine? I would share any artwork (except maybe some special character pics and big pictures ). However, the style is very different from e.g. the style of Manikus' walls http://dungeoncraft.forumsplace.com/message10.html (Wow! by the way...) due to the hand-drawn outlines. It would probably look a little strange to combine those styles in one project... |

Just PM or email me and we can get something worked out. I could either put a page together for you, or like Steve McDonald, you could do your own page and I would just host it. |
lol this must be a very good game! By the way could you tell me how you created these graphics?

if a program was used
|
I used a pencil, a black pen, a piece of paper with a helpful yellow grid (: , a scanner and Paint Shop Pro 4 (in some cases PSP 9).
The adventure is not very good right now, because unfortunately I made a typical beginner's mistake and tried to include too many ideas and built huge levels which are very boring because nothing happens in some areas... I would never be able to finish that project if I tried to design events and missions for all areas. So right now I'm working on making the whole thing smaller and hopefully more exciting. (: |
Dinonykos-
I seem to have access to my web server to update my site again. :D If you would still like to have your files hosted...I should be able to do it with no problem. |
I need a little time to make a package. ;) I want to exclude some walls which are only useful for my project (statues of NPCs, machines etc.). Furthermore, I probably should sort them.
Give me a few days. :D |
Sounds good. Take all the time you need. I was just so excited that I could update my site that I had to share it with everyone. :D
|
Well, had some probs with my pc so i couldnt do much. -BUT- i finished the first kingdom, and keep going! (added some cool spell effects!). Well, can someone tell me how to take and post screenshots? :|
|
To take screenshots, I just use the print screen button and open it up in my favorite graphics program. To post screenshots, you can use a service like image shack or flickr to host your image and just put the link here so that it appears that ironworks is hosting it. :D
|
ok. w8 for screenies soon!
|
well, i have a problem. When i press upload in imageshack says uploading, but i waited for 10min and it didnt upload it! :( :(
|
The two things to look at are 1.)size of image and 2.)file format
For 1, try reducing the size to 640x480 and for 2, make sure that it is .jpg or .png |
still same prob :(

HOw's your connection?
|
dial-up.....(unfortunately)
|
Try making the screenshot 320x240 and reducing it 256 colors. You might even want to save it as a .gif picture.
That should be small enough to upload relatively painlessly. |
i tried it , and seems to work. Ill maybe add some in the next days.
|
Do you still have uploading problems?
I assume all of us are anxious to see some impressions of your project! (It is always motivating to see what other people have managed to create, I think.) |
OMG! i say OMG! why all this happen to me?????
what iam talking about? well, u may have noticed that i had to post for some months, and thats why my hard disk DIED! and Kingdoms of Zordo too, as i formatted the disk! why my god, why.... |
I feel your pain.
Dungeoneer was lost twice at the beta testing stage. I built it. I lost it. I built from scratch again, I lost it again. I had to build it a third time to get something for the rest of you to see that I wasn't making something up. :D If there's anything I can do to help- artwork that you need or someone to look over the design, just let me know. |
well, thnx to a friend of mine, he gave me back a cd i gave to him some months ago of the game i had done so far, and ill continue it from there fortunately! :D :D
EDIT: moths=months lol [ 01-23-2007, 07:52 AM: Message edited by: ffan ] |
