GOT IT!!! I finally finished this piece of art called BGII. Man oh man did I like the ending, especially where Irenicus got his butt kicked!

The thing I liked the most about it though is that now I KNOW there will be a Baldur's Gate III. It cannot end like that!

Oh and by the way, no ridiculing as there are probably lots of you who have finished it long ago!

Yeah, I cant wait for BG3, BG2 was the first and best rpg I ever played.
The game is just awesome. Maybe I should buy BG1 when my exams are passed.

Ahh, Congratulations. I finished it this morning on my birthday. What a great start!!! Oh and that ending, those boys are up to no good! They will tremble before the might of Minsc and Boo!! Well, of course everybody gets caught up with those damn lovable and sometimes unlovable characters. I cant wait for another Baldurs and that damn Bodhi took my Aerie! Nooo! She was annoying at times but damn, she was a good *Beep* well anyway, soak up the pride of the recent victory and live like a god.

I'm sorry but I was pretty disappointed in the ending...going thru four CDs and with an ending with just Jon jumping into lava in hell, the cowled wizards talking about putting down the child of bhaal just doesnt impress me much. But obviously the ending sets us up for the next sequel/add on. So I'm crossing my fingers for the next ending. However great game, worth my 50 bucks.


Maybe I played too much Final Fantasies where the ending is waaay more spectacular. =)

I've got a sneaking feeling they weren't Cowled Wizards, lucid.

D'OH! Sorry, sorry. Mind you, any thread entitled 'Game ending issues' is a pretty obvious spoiler warning, come to think of it... but yes, sorry.

I agree with Lucid. Western RPGS never seem to know how to put an end to a fantastic game. Compared to the Final Fantasies, any other ending pales in comparison..never providing closure, too grim or dismal, or always something that takes away the coolness of the whole thing.

When I came to "the final showdown" I found that I HAD to Slayer change to finish of Jon I'. Now, that to my mind sucked more than a tiny bit (symbolism be darned). I go through the entire game with a pretty perfect reputation and at the very end, am forced to perform an action that costs me 2 reputation points.

Add to that, the fact that the ending IS an anticlimax... page after page of that poxy Ellisime and her pontificating in that 'worse than dick van dyke accent' AAAAAAAAH!

All in all, I was expecting better.

Still, it's not really the end is it? Just the opening to T.O.B.

I totally think that the people at the table at the end were the protectors of the known world. They were going to kill you. I loved how Jonny Boy fell into the lava, but is he fighting in the lava eternilly or what? What if he gets ressurected?

Eh? You do not need to change into the Slayer. It is perfectly possible to kick Jonny's butt to the abyss and beyond without submitting to your inner instinct.

I for one did not have to change into the Slayer and do not think it is necessary either (unless I misses something, which I am sure I did not)
Maybe he Quintis was having a hard time beating Irenicus and thus turned in the slayer. After all the Slayer shapechange is totally optional and up to the stage I am at the moment (in TOB) I have not been forced to use it out of my free will.

In ToB your reputation gets reset to it's base value (usually 11, 12 if you're Lawful Good) anyways..so who cares ? Spend it if you got it.

Partially incorrect. It only gets reset if you import your character into ToB. If you fight the final battle and transit normally to ToB, your party values are retained.
