OH MY GOD.

This is an epic comic book, if I may say so myself.

Its a manga, yes. But Don't let that turn you away, or anything. Its got all the elements of an epic work. I'd say it goes right up there with lord of the rings in the form of a comic. Its spectacular.

Its got fighting, big swords, curvy females, and more fighting, horses, demons, monsters, and pixies...

I've never been so drawn in by a comic book, and while my description may come off as simply another fantasy book. Its not. Those are in there, but the main story is narrarated in a professional method. You'll forget that you're reading a comic book. Its amazing. You get totally drawn in the book.

Its literally got something for everyone. You like knights? Its got them. You like fighting? its got that . You like romance? its got that. You like romance gone wrong ? Its got that too. Politics? You betcha. Demons? Sure as hell. Crazy things that only japanese people can come up with? That too.

Although this is clearly not suitable for those with a weak stomach due to all sorts of things such as gore, blood, and sex. But for anyone itching for a good read,no. An extraordinary read, I stronly urge you to read this.

Its currently at 32 volumes and running. There are places you can get it online through IRC with fantranslated/scanned methods. However I'm not sure if I am allowed to speak of that here, so if you would like to read this PM me about it. But above all you must read this comic book!!

(I really someone so I can go all fanboy about this on him/her) :D

I haven't read the manga much, but I can't stress enough how much I loved the TV series. I'll absolutely definitely read the manga one day, but I'd much rather reading it from paper, so getting around to it is going to take some time. :D

I've heard people say that the anime had nothing on the manga, but I was totally immersed in it. As soon as I'd seen the show, I began to base much of my writings (short stories; don't have much yet) on a universe, which is, in some aspects, much like that of Berserk.

I must admit that I wouldn't agree that it has something for everyone. Its appeal to me came from the gritty and demonic human-centered medieval universe, which the mangaka could make into something so dramatic, dark, heroic, violent and dreamy at the same time. The philosophical ventures and political intrigue rocked. The themes of betrayal and tragic love were masterfully done.

Okay, enough of my ranting. :D

Harkoliar 04-08-2007 11:24 AM

manga is waaay better than the tv series bec the tv series cuts some events being too mature. still love it .

Spirits Reborn 04-08-2007 07:22 PM

well maybe not everyone

I am a current extreme fanboy, so you should take what I say with a grain of salt . lol

Harkoliar 04-08-2007 08:54 PM

what part of the manga are you now in Spirits?
:D

Spirits Reborn 04-11-2007 06:05 PM

I'm all the way in. I'm waiting for the new chapters.

D:

32 volumes went by fast...lol

Calaethis Dragonsbane 04-11-2007 10:34 PM

Has it all been translated yet? I'm a fan of the anime, but I've not had a chance to read the manga. Last time I checked, they only had four volumes out.

Spirits Reborn 04-11-2007 11:41 PM

Yep, 32 volumes have been translated (fan trans) but nonetheless. The fanscanning group "Band of HAWks" did a great job, its almost professional.

:D

If you want I can PM you a way to get them.

edit with big spoils ahead.

Judging in Vol 32, how in the world is it possible to defeat Griffith? Its near impossible having his abilities. Even the emperor is cowering in fear now

</font>
YAY! Chapter 284 should be coming out this weekend!!! :D

SPOILER !!IF YOU READ THIS YOU"LL NEVER STOP READING BERSERK CAUSE YOU"RE GONNA WANT TO FIND OUT HOW IT GOT TO THIS ! :D OR NOT....

and Yeah Griffith is going to be hard to defeat. But I don't think he'll be defeated. It totally depends on which turn the story takes. For example, the story might retake towards the quote "among everyone, you were the one person that made me forget my dream" and So Griffith and Gutts have a confrontation et.c and Griffith can't hit guts- but guts doesn't give a shit? We've seen this twice already. lol. And another would be Griffith wins? =P (i'm rooting for him)

And the emperor, he's not really that "strong", and he looks like one of those people that are really sure of their powers, but once they've been proved wrong loose all hope inthemselves. Though I didn't expect ZODD to go over to griffith, that surprised the hell out of me. I was like HUH!?

Spoil:
Zodd is a person who wants something in his life. He gotten over his bloodthirstyness and wants fulfillment. I suppose Griffith may be an answer to that. Dont forget Gutts and his companions will be able to get to the Elven Kingdom and perhaps the key will be there. By then though, Griffith may have started the final battle with the emperor.
It is interesting what may happen if Griffith does become king. what happens next?

yeah I understand that ZOdd is looking for something, but I thought he wanted to fight the strongest person et.c , which is why the always fought skull knight. Then again Griffith totally owns them all. Hm , yea, I want Gutts to get to the elf place fast. The brain dead casca is kinda annoying, and still I don't see what the elves can do for Gutts group in terms of "power". Unless they give them more mystical weapons like the wind cloak et.c. I have a feeling though, that the next confrontation between Griffith and Gutts is going to be a very uh climatic one. I kinda think that Griffith still wants him, because he never really gives Gutts up. Example being the time where the skull knight saves Gutts and casca, griffith stops using his power after he sees gutts hurt. And the same thing with their confrontation in the cemetary? Maybe he'll get fed up over his demon army, and ask gutts again?

Just thinking, it'd be a nice twist to the story.

</font>
Thanks guys . Got your PMs. And yeah, I imagine I'm going to be having lots of sleepless nights.

My biggest question currently is: "Who is the Hawk of Light?". I'm really hoping it isn't Gutts.

</font>
The hawk of light is usually what they call Griffith.

i think they call Gutts some other hawk. lol

Harkoliar 04-13-2007 08:20 PM

they just called gutts something along the lines of the Zerker. He just likes to fight

Spirits,
yeah that would be an interesting twist althought i doubt that would happen. I believe the Griffith must answer to those Gods who let them lose from the world.

Spirits Reborn 04-13-2007 11:06 PM

They call Gutts the Black Hawk, Black Swordsman, and the Berserker?

Calaethis Dragonsbane 04-14-2007 02:59 AM

I know Gattsu is called the "Black Swordsman" (due to his clothes and sword), and I know they used to call Griffith the "Hawk of Light", but not anymore, I think. At least, not after the "Golden Arc".

Spirits Reborn 04-14-2007 06:42 PM

Nah, Griffith is called that throughout the story.

at any given point of time.

and what exactly is the "golden arc" I'm not familiar with these labels.

Spirits Reborn 04-16-2007 11:59 PM

Hark, new chapter came out this weekend. Go read, it's ridiculous. I didn't see this coming, (i really should have.) lol

The story arc that the anime is based on - when Gattsu and Griffith fight together. If you check around, there are a couple of nice sites that wiki links which give a ton of info on the Berserk universe. It's really quite interesting actually. Berserk's dark 'God' being created by man and such.
