I watched the premier of this show tonight. It was as good as I had hoped, maybe better, and I look forward to next week! I hope it don't get cancelled by greedy fools that kill shows before they've had their chance.
If you don't know what I am talking about... http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/ They have a forum set up and everything. Each hero tonight learned something about themselves and how they are...different. My favorite was the mom that saw her reflection in a mirror, but cannot figure out why her reflection does not seem to be her own self. After getting knocked out by a thug, she awakes to find him dead, and sees her reflection stained in blood, smiling...yet she herself is not bloodied. The comic relief of the show is definately the Japanese that adores Star Trek and can mess with time and even teleport. [ 10-17-2006, 07:42 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
I saw it last night and I agree it was great. I liked the girl who can get hurt when she was describing what she has done to her self this week ( fallen off a building etc.)
I was wondering if the Mom's son has any powers ( super genius) and if the brother only fly if together ( that would be sort of lame). Looking forward to next weeks epsisode! P.S they are rerunning the pilot today ( tueday) |
This show is getting great reviews now, and seems to be a sure thing for the time being. The second episode Monday left us screaming with questions and needing more!
Anybody else into it? |
If they do this series right, it could be freaking amazing. But remember, NBC usually NEVER gives Sci-fi long lives--even when they do well, NBC cancels things.
I, for one, hope they don't cancel it. So far, the writing is awesome, and the way it should be done. NBC owns Bravo and the Sci-Fi channel now, so they do refeeds on sci-fi of Heroes too. |
Dang! I was at a friends cottage and forgot all about it. Is it on again tonight?
Edit: looks like I have my days mixed up. It's Thanksgiving, in Canada, so it's on tonight. [ 10-09-2006, 07:25 AM: Message edited by: Variol (Farseer) Elmwood ] |
It isn't on the TV schedule up here that I can see. I tried the feed off the NBC site, but it just seemed to hang. Oh well.
|
This is one of the few shows I've got set to record on my DVR every week. Siler looks to be one evil bastard, with a mix of powers. I think the Japanese guys are my favorites so far, but the cop is pretty cool as well. And I really want to see what is behind the lady and her reflection - I'm thinking the mass grave was all from her, not her husband.
|
Man, I wish each episode was like 4 hours long.. Such kick ass writing on this show. SO Rare these days...
I gotta go check out that comic on NBC.com |
I first saw a preview to this show in the movie theater. I thought that it sounded like a cool concept. I have since seen the first two episodes and I really liked what I saw. The show has a lot of potential. For some reason it reminded me of the X-Files.

Spoilers about Last Night's Show (ep. 4) included.
Wow! The show was great tonight! This crazy show has me hooked, and I cannot wait to see next week! I was thinking they were slow on Hiro's section of the story today until the end. What a great ending. Did you see him look all samari with his sword and all? And his english! We saw Nikki finally kick some ass. That was good, but it was not violent enough. I was expecting her to be more crazy-like. The younger brother...he's a chamilion for powers! He can do powers of other supers! I knew it would be something like that! The artist...I wish to heck he'd not have to take heroin to do his thing. That kinda sucks that he's limited to doing something illegal. I hope he can find a way to improve on that. The Cop. He's growing in powers. He was able to pull the cheerleader's name out of her dad's head even though Silar was trying to block him. But now we'll assume that he's wiped clean and will not remember a darned thing. SUCKS! Cheerleader girl. !!WOOT!! Crashing that car into the wall because of mr. prick! She's murdered him! And the storyline is, save the girl, save NY. I bet Silar needs her powers to become immortal. If he gets her, he'll be unstoppable. I think he's stealing the powers of other Supers, when he takes their brain. [ 10-17-2006, 09:55 AM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
Well, nothing like a little spoiling eh Larry.
I was thinking myself that is definatly my fav. for TV shows right now. |
Sorry about that. I figured that anybody that cared was watching it for they'd not have the chance to go back and see it again until the DVD comes out...or reruns begin...and people gotta know what happened last night to be able to understand next week.
Thanks for calling me on that, though. I marked my post just now as Spoiler'ish. |
SPOILERS
You're right Larry - the ending rocked with both Hiro and the cheerleader segments. Hiro rocks! I really love the nods they give to comic fans with the two Japanese guys - "Is Peter Parker cheating when he sells pictures of Spider Man?". The only complaint I have - and it has nothing to do with the actual show - is that they completely gave away the ending with the cheerleader on the previews. Still, that was pretty cool. Mr. Prick's reaction when he saw her alive again at school was classic. [ 10-17-2006, 11:03 AM: Message edited by: Marathon ] |
SPOILERS
Larry - one question for you: Do we actually know that the guy blocking the cop's powers was Siler? I watched the show in somewhat reverse order (caught some live, some I watched later), so I could have missed something. However, I was thinking Siler is still a mystery man, sort of a ultimate "super" with all powers working on his own and Cheerleader's Dad's organization was completely seperate. EDIT: Two questions, actually. Can we just mark this whole thread as spoilerish and have at it for discussion purposes? [ 10-17-2006, 11:05 AM: Message edited by: Marathon ] |

That's correct, we do not know for sure that the black guy that can block the cop's powers is actually Silar, and now that I think about it...it would be too easy if that indeed was him. Therefore, it cannot be him because the show is better at hiding him than that.
You know what makes me sit on the edge of my seat and scream for more? The way the scenes play out, where you'll see the life of one person and just when it starts getting into it, they change on you so you can see a totally new scene with a new person...and you have to wait like fifteen minutes just to make it back around the block for each hero. That way...we do not get "used to" or "tired of" one hero. |
Yup; and you'd think people would crap on a mutant spin off, but there's been none of that.
|
|
Great find on that link. Thanks for sharing!
Oh..at the end where we had the dude beat-boxing and doing some sound effects...I do some of that myself to the amazement of people around me but not to that level of supremecy. I've just been pwnd! [ 10-19-2006, 11:12 AM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
I just finished watching Battlestar Galactica. I'd have to say it's at least tied with Heroes as a fav. (update from my early comment)

Hey! How about last night's show?
Spoilers... Nikki The only real interesting thing with her this week was on the previews for next week. That's all I will say about that for now. I cannot wait to see next week! Matt Got his freak on with the wifey...and now he's passed out in the grocery store because he overloaded because he could not handle the high-stress vibes from everyone. I am worried about what will happen to him and if he's gonna lose his relationship now that he's mended it again. I really hope that nothing happens to his wife or marriage, speaking in a sense that if I were in his shoes...I am pulling for his marriage to stay intact. I only worry because I have seen too many stories like this where the couple is happy, the guy goes out and gets into something that it completely backflips the whole getting-back-together thing. I hate it when Hollywood does that. For once, please let this be a new idea. Cheerleader and Dad: What more can I say? :D I wished that the boy would have died, but then...that death would have been a murder point against our "hero". Therefore, its better that he lived. But my question is...Do you think the dad and his friend are "good guys"? In a sense... Hiro: Notice that his name phonetically spoken is similar to hero? Nice, eh? Not much here, other than he knows the flying man now. ( I am bad with some names...) Speaking of our flying, bad-boy, not really bad boy...DID YOU SEE HIS FLIGHT?!?!?! Man! WHOOOOSH! He was outta there! And then that 90 degree BOOM! That was the highlight of the show man! Chamelion-boy (told ya...bad with names), he is now hanging with the man whose girl he was a banging and finished his art work for him on that one picture. I did not understand what I was looking at, so does anyone have any ideas? |
Good episode this week - I'm really liking the flying politician. At first I thought his power would be pretty lame looking on TV, but they really made it awesome! Plus, he's extorting the extortionists? "For 4 million you've got a Congressman in your pocket" was a great line.
Then the cheerleader's father - I've been wondering if he might not be as evil as he seemed, and I think this episode did give us enough wiggle room to at least question. They are presenting very morally gray characters, which I like. He didn't kill, or really even harm the cop that we know of. Being a dad with a little girl, I started to like him the moment he walked into the quarterback's hospital room. Can't wait for the next episode, and hopefully seeing the "mirror lady" show what she can do with her powers. And yeah, I'm rooting for the cop and his wife, but I'm very skeptical... Someone at work said the show is only supposed to go 24 episodes - has anyone else heard this? |
AHH! What the heck was that? What!!!!!
Spoilers, if you could not gues... Hiro upset that he could not save the gamblers from apparently Nikki's rage attack, then DL turns out to not be a bad guy but Nikki apparently is, because of the alter ego thing...and then DL has to kill her in self-defense because she's framed him...and Micah sees it all! MAN! What is going down? My wife guessed at the fact that the bioparents were not really the parents. We saw last week that the dad may not be such a bad guy...but then why do this? I knew that Eden was a set-up...and they're after the painter now. What did he call him? What was the name that the dad used to tell Eden to bring in the...? I was a bit surprised that not all the heroes got air-time tonight. The two brothers had nothing to do with the show tonight, nor Matt the cop. From the previews of next week...it looks like they're not in it either. But DL will meet up with Hiro...which is really ironic because Hiro's friend has a crush on DL's now dead (apparently...I mean...he crushed her insides) wife, Nikki. Crazy Show! Got me all worked up! |
Awesome show tonight!
Bring in the precog, as in precognition. I could be wrong, but I don't think Nikki is dead - they've invested too much time into her character. I think we'll see her again. DL is cool - I like the shadow powers. [ 10-31-2006, 04:15 PM: Message edited by: Marathon ] |
I forgot to mention the glasses that the dad held up and looked at whilst talking to Eden by phone. Are those the same ones that were in the professor's office that day that the son of the professor walked in and discovered somebody there and ran out...leaving the glasses behind on the book? Do you think the glasses can see heroes?
|
How bout that episode last night, although i think i liked the preview for the next one better. "That's my daughter!"
|
Finally, a little backstory coming on the father. Should be good.
Did anyone get the feeling that the brother who flies did get the painting, but just didn't give it over to his younger brother? I think the show is trying to keep us off balance - maybe there is more to the older brother than we've been told. Just a guess. |
Yeah, that painting issue has me stumped. I thought he got it for him, but he lied about getting it! I don't see where he's going with that.
What about Micah, knowing that it was not his mom, and Jessica told him that Nikki cannot come back until things are taken care of. Hey...I also realized that Claire is the only one that cannot be harmed by Radiation Man. She cannot burn. I wonder if that will have any plot. We knew all along that Micah had a gift, but I thought it was just being really smart or something...but he can manipulate technology? That was cool how the phone only worked for him and not for his dad when DL grabbed the phone away from him. |
MAn, I love this show.
In any event, the theory is that Peter is a mimic. Think about it. He hangs out with his brother, and flies when he falls off the buliding, albeit for a brief moment. Then, when he's with Isaac, he painst the rest of the painting. He's a mimic I tells ya ;) |
Yeah - Peter is a mimic. That's for certain. So, is the radiation man the one responsible for blowing up New York (in the future)? It just occurred to me if he gets hurt he could effectively have a meltdown (ala DC's Captain Atom). Maybe Claire is the key to getting to him.
Edit - Micah's scene was very cool. Nice powers, but the fact that he knows his mom's other side is coming and still told her where to come was a nice touch. [ 11-10-2006, 10:28 AM: Message edited by: Marathon ] |
A touch where he still loved her. Ah, innocent mother-son love.
In any event, that would make sense. But... is the radiation man really Syler, like the cops said? I'm somehow doubting it. |
I'm kinda hoping they don't introduce too many more people with abilities; I think it's getting a bit much, other than different villans.
|
I'm pretty certain radiation man is not Siler. Didn't Siler freeze people, then lop off the top of their heads earlier on? I think this new guy is just a confused guy that can't control his power.
|
..probably just due to cold and flu season..
|
I think that Silar is gaining powers by eating his victims brains. Yummo.
My guess is that Peter has to be the one to take Silar down - Peter is going to be the only one able to match Silars powers (effectively using Silars against him)... Unless... What if Peter IS SILAR! MWAHAHAH! Do you think Peter will get an alter-ego if he meets Niki? Instead of Jessica there may be a Jesse! One thing I've noticed is that the markings popping up all over the place; Mr Cop has one on his neck now, which seems to have appeared after Claires father captured him. |
What a Show it was tonight!
We've learned sooooo much tonight! Matt: Family business aside, he now knows somebody else that was "assaulted" by the haitian dude and now Radiation Dude has escaped and who knows where he's off to. Mohinder: What is going on with that boy he's seeing in visions, and why the heck is Mohinder having visions? Is he being fed them from an outside source? Hiro: How the heck does Syler kill people? I am beginning to think that he uses his powers to open up their heads because of the instantaneousness of it. Now Hiro has run off and did not come back, leaving his friend wondering (and maybe the cops too...), but if Hiro changed the future, then there would be no need for the cops to be there now, and so why would Hiro's friend even be in the diner? And what about that picture of Hiro on the wall with that girl (another hero) at a birthday party? What did he do to her when he went back to the past? How far did he go? How long was he with her? Will he come back and help save Claire? Issac: Eden has powers of persuasion, and at first I wondered what she was promising him in his ear before I realized that she has powers that are not mundane. She's a hero too! (my chances of becoming one gets better with these increasing numbers...). Issac is the only one that knows that Mr. Bennett is a good guy (kinda). Peter: He gets to Claire to help her escape Syler from the previews we've seen tonight for next week. Was there somebody else there? I cannot remember. I just saw him. How'd he find her? Do you think that Mr. Bennett will help the heroes locate her, since he knows that there is a couple people out there trying to find her to "save the cheerleader"? Surely he'd want all the help he could get, and people like Peter would be good to have helping...though Pete's older brother Nathan promised to kill Mr. Bennett if he ever saw him again. |
I just wish we could see more - you can go the whole hour without seeing your favorite and hardly realize it. I was looking forward to round two for Niki / DL, but we may have to wait a while for that.
So now that we know just a little about Mr. Bennett, do we think he's a good guy? There is still a lot to be explained about him - like what organization does he work for? What is their purpose? How much do they know about Siler? |
So Dave are you downloading these Eps too?
I've just started watching (upto Episode 5) and am loving it! Just watched the episode where Claire (Invinci Girl?) Plowed that car into the wall! Seems she has a bit of a dark side. Also what is that S symbol that keeps popping up? Its on that black bald guys necklace, was in one of the painters paintings and appeared on Nikki's back when she turned into her alter ego. |

Yeh, I was like "Dude, if I can see the code in the screen, you should be able too!"
You do need to kinda step away a bit I guess.. and it even looks better when you blur your eyes a bit. I saw that right away in the first episode. [ 11-15-2006, 03:08 PM: Message edited by: Ziroc ] |
