No you can't have me pot of dirt!

Harkoliar 07-12-2006 04:15 AM

watching it tom morning.. cross fingers i wont waste money

Hivetyrant 07-12-2006 04:34 AM

Well, I wouldn't say it's a waste of money, but it's definantly not on par with the original ;)

Sever 07-12-2006 06:35 AM

Apparently it took in $180 million in the first weekend in the US.

Yaar! Another spideyman!

I think i'll wait for the DVD...

I really liked it and I know that this being the middle child of the trilogy makes a difference as to story since its beginning and end are in different movies...but hey...it was well worth my money to see it in the theater. We now have the digital projection in our area, so that was sweet.

Luvian 07-12-2006 08:57 PM

I haven't seen it yet but I can't wait. So it's going to be a trilogy? Good news!

Timber Loftis 07-13-2006 09:32 AM

No, it's not a trilogy.

It's one movie, followed by two others made once the first one made phat cash.

But, it's entertaining at least.

Mozenwrathe 07-13-2006 07:41 PM

I, for one, loved it.
Best part: look for the dog.
just trust me on this one.
Captain Jack Sparrow vs. Kwai Chang Caine FTW!
(yes, I KNOW that doesn't happen, but who wouldn't want to see Johnny Depp break out some drunken monkey styles while talking in crackhappyguudeness speak?)
far more fun than Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift. (and yes, I did enjoy that movie.)
far more entertaining than Superman Returns (and most of us have been waiting literally most of our lives for THAT movie to come out.)
but will it be able to hold its own against my November movie? we shall see...

Ive seen it twice, once with friends and once with family. I enjoyed it both times, though it wasn't quite as good as original. A couple of the people I went with with my friends really didn't think it was very interesting though. In the middle of the movie they just went shopping for a half an hour and came back (they were both women, obviously ).

The ending was poor, though i enjoyed the rest of the movie. Sure the movie was very slapstick at times but it was well done. The kebab pole vaulting escape from canibals was very funny. Bill Nighy one of my fave actors was very good as Davey Jones. 3 1/2 outta 5 but I will still be in the front of the que to see the final installment. :D

DrowArchmage 08-04-2006 10:20 PM

i went to see it with my girl, but it turns out i didnt catch most of it. *grins*

Zarr 08-13-2006 06:02 PM

That sounds alot better than the movie to be honest :D

Personally I wasn't too impressed. Sure it has it's entertaining moments but I much prefered the original TBH. It was a typical Holloywood blockbuster sequal by the numbers. Worth a watch but not the most intellectual film you'll ever see. I thought Superman Returns was better, actually.

Bozos of Bones 08-13-2006 08:55 PM

You didn't like the ending?!
Jack: 'Ello, beastie.
What's not to like? It's like the one scene that captures the character perfectly.
I for one loved the movie. It's not one of those deep thinking movies, this one is meant to be seen in order to unwind, relax and have a good casual laugh, while offering a spectacular acting performance to boot.

Neo the Warrior Cat 08-13-2006 09:15 PM

My favorite scene is still the part where the crew is trying to get out of the cages the cannibals put them in. The music makes it even more hilarious.
