So which film would you choose as the best film of 2005 (do not nominate more than 3) votes will be totaled and the winner will be awarded the "CHOC"

Szass-Tam 01-21-2006 07:02 AM

Brokeback Mountain
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
The Constant Gardener

Madman-Rogovich 01-21-2006 09:04 AM

''The Aristocrats'' no contest :D

Larry_OHF 01-21-2006 10:28 AM

King Kong
Harry Potter 4

Thoran 01-21-2006 01:03 PM

2005 was a pretty horrid year for movies... but there were a couple who rose above the sludge far enough to be considered for a coveted "choc" award.

Walk the Line
King Kong
Cinderella Man

Sir Goulum 01-21-2006 09:17 PM

No votes for Batman? Sheesh. Well, here's my list anyways...

Batman Begins
King Kong
Harry Potter

Hivetyrant 01-21-2006 11:19 PM

Probably Sin City or Duce Bigalow: European Gigalow

Good lord, I hope you're joking.
Hannah Verboom is cute! But the movie sucked, indeed.

The only movie of 2005 I saw is Batman Begins, which was pretty good.

Sin City, without a doubt. It has no serious competition.

Klorox 01-23-2006 01:35 PM

Narnia
Walk The Line
Batman

(if I could have a 4th it would be Sin City)

Mack_Attack 01-24-2006 12:03 PM

Starwars III
Batman Begins
War of the worlds

I only say these because this all I seen. ;)

Oh and Wedding Crashers.

Absolutely no votes for Batman. A movie with a plot hole you can drive a fleet of Mack trucks through should never get a vote.

But, you can have my vote if you tell me this: How does a microwave emitting WMD heat all the water in the sewer under the street without heating the water in the bodies of all the people standing around it? Comic books or comic movies should hide their heads in shame when they make stupid mistakes like that one.

Azred 01-24-2006 03:11 PM

You weren't supposed to think when you saw that movie. You were supposed to sit there quietly and eat your popcorn.

Timber Loftis 01-26-2006 03:42 PM

I liked:

Crash
Syriana
Good Night and Good Luck

but I don't know that they were that great, because it seems to have been simply an off year.

Fantastic 4 was good, too. So was Saw and Hostel was okay. Lots of decent mediocre movies this year.

Got to agree with you Timber it was a poor year overall. I'm still trying to decide a clear winner myself.

SecretMaster 01-27-2006 01:45 AM

Sin City.

Mack_Attack 01-27-2006 03:08 AM

I forgot about Crash that was a very good movie. ;)

Morgeruat 01-27-2006 07:37 AM

Serenity
Walk the Line
Memoirs of a Geisha
That's actually the only two I saw last year (Saw Memiors the other night, but it was released in december, I saw F4 in theaters, but I don't consider it worthy of mention)

Target 01-27-2006 07:56 AM

At last someone picked Serenity. I wonder if there are any more browncoats here?

My picks,
Serenity
Star Wars III
Harry Potter 4

Timber Loftis 01-27-2006 10:00 AM

Damn, I forgot Serenity. Another pretty good mediocre movie. A much better TV series. I never saw the shows on TV, but once I saw the movie I bought the whole series on DVD. Very good stuff. Drat, I wish it hadn't ended.

Mack_Attack 02-02-2006 03:25 AM

When is there going to be a winner?

Soon!

So far Sin city was the most refreshinng movie I have seen this year. The lighting / camera work was sensational. But does it deserve a choc??? Does any movie of last year really deserve a choc? I wonder if the oscar voters (acadamy) have the choice of voting for none?

Votes for the choc will finish this weekend.

shadowhound 02-05-2006 09:01 AM

Pretty depressing year as far as movies go but the movies which I actually remember and enjoyed were:

Serenity
Sin City
Saw 2

The 'S' connection is a disturbing coincidence.
