I thought it was fairly cool.although, there were some pretty corny parts in it.

Orbost 02-28-2005 05:07 PM

DrowArchmage, tell me more! The company I work for produced this movie, so I'm eager to hear all comments. I missed the special staff preview screening a couple of weeks ago, but most of my colleagues thought it was pretty good.

Anyone else seen it?

Ilander 02-28-2005 05:21 PM

ConstAntine. This has been your visit from the friendly neighborhood spelling Gestapo.

Sir Degrader 02-28-2005 05:26 PM

Oh Ilander, you so funny.

Firetoad 02-28-2005 06:02 PM

it was great. the only part I didn't like was the role of that half angel thing gabriel. I totally didn't understand his/her motivation, purpose and how it fit into the story. I thought he was good, then bad, and then good again?
i liked the portrayal of satan. very creepy, black muddy feet, white suit.

DrowArchmage 02-28-2005 06:40 PM

yeah, that was the corny part, but other than that it was awesome! some rally funny parts in it too.

VulcanRider 02-28-2005 07:02 PM

I spoiled it for myself -- the ads looked so good that I bought the book 2 weeks before the movie came out. Still enjoyed the movie, even though I knew what was coming. I was a little disappointed in Satan, just because while reading I was picturing Al Pacino from The Devil's Advocate. I never really understood why he had bare feet? And I was hoping to see more of Midnite's club. Also the book described the hospital staff in a "holding spell" during the climax that extended out the doors to keep people from entering the building. Showing that would've been cool...

Balintherlas 02-28-2005 09:48 PM

I went to the movies this past friday, with a girl , and saw cursed which absolutely sucked, i really wished we had seen this instead.

Harkoliar 03-01-2005 02:36 AM

great movie although my friend didnt like it.. i think because of his atheist philosophy didnt help. (not implying to all athiest out there).

good plot.. good movie.. good effects.. and good story.. i love the last part where Constantine gave a nice to satan :D .

Luvian 03-01-2005 02:57 PM

I saw it to day after it came out. I really liked it, it was really well done. It's nice that the little human didn't single handedly beat the devil and legion of hell.

Was this movie inspired by the Devil's Advocate?

Morgeruat 03-01-2005 03:29 PM

It was inspired by the comic book Constantine (by the same guy that did HellBoy, and From Hell if I'm not mistaken)

Constantine was alot like the Smoking Man from the X-Files, a chain-smoking prick who always showed up to give cryptic advice to the heroes, cynical, pissed off and cowardly. Oh and the Comic was based in London.

I've heard it's a good hero vs hell movie, but a very poor recreation of Constantine's character since they excised many of the things that made him different from typical anti-hero #7

I doubt it. I just thought of Al Pacino's version of Satan when I read the book.

The Movie show slagged this off really bad the other night on TV I think Margret may have given it two stars or less. It does look intreguing (sp Ilander )to me though Orbost.

Larry_OHF 03-05-2005 09:57 AM

I liked it alot, if that matters to anyone at all.

Ilander 03-10-2005 12:52 AM

It was a fun movie, actually. It didn't have the exact same plot that all the other movies do, and it didn't just reek of "action."

It had a good mix of action and storyline, which is something that I haven't seen in a long time.

They even gave Keanu Reeves a good role for his acting ability (not too many long lines!).

hehehe

Timber Loftis 03-10-2005 02:11 AM

I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. It ain't "high art" and it ain't Schindler's List, but it was an enjoyable flick. The modern trend of putting the hottie gal character in a wet white T-shirt was tempered by her wearing black, but then she did stay wet a whole lot. Oh, well, I'm not one to complain.

I completely got Gabriel's motivation -- it was to let the human race show its greatest strength and character in the face of the adversity to be rent upon mankind by Satan's little boy. As well, man would get to suffer a lot. Given the fallen archangel's love/hate relationship with man, and given the story line, it made perfect sense. Let humans redeem themselves, as God allows them to do, but if so let them SUFFER.

The middle finger given by Keanu to the Devil when he thought he was ascending to Heaven was corn-ball classic for the ages!

You ain't kiddin! I absolutely LOVED that...cracked me up pretty nicely. Remember the part where Constantine got his pretty white shirt ruined? lol

Yeah, one of my friends wanted an ending in which everyone died...he was kind of disapointed. I liked the ending, though.

harleyquinn 03-11-2005 12:36 PM

I've never read the comic, but I did like this one. It was fairly entertaining. A surprise seening as how many critics panned it.

Bahamut 03-11-2005 10:15 PM

One of my favorite movies now. :D

His attitude I can relate to. I'd do the same thing I were going to heaven right before Satan takes me... :D And the tar... eeew. hehehe

Xen 03-12-2005 08:23 AM

I think it is a very good action flick. The best scene in the movie is where the Devil himself walks through glass and the pieces of it just bounce away from him.

Intrepid 03-19-2005 09:36 AM

The devil was ok, devils advocate was better i thought, this guy seemed a bit overweight, and i didn't like the demons either, they looked strange, and inefficent. They seemed more alien than demonic. Good story though, and great special effects, i'd buy it on dvd.

Yeah, was that angle intended to have vague sexuality? I remember the actor being in a movie called "orlando" in which she was a male, then she transformed into a female, and preceded to live for over 400 years because she felt like it, perhaps that's why they choose her for this role. The name "Gabriel" is vague too.

Balintherlas 03-19-2005 08:44 PM

Yea, she kinda did look like a he-she in this movie.

Luvian 03-20-2005 06:19 AM

Look at Timber's post for Gabriel's motivations.

Yes, I think Gabriel was supposed to be close to genderless.

dplax 03-20-2005 04:30 PM

I just saw this film and I must say that I was pretty impressed, even though I'm not religious. The film had quite a few moments, where some pretty subtle humour showed through like:
s
p
o
i
l
e
r
when Satan sent Constantine back to life to be able to go to Hell afterwards, or the finger at Satan.

The special effects were also very good, basically this is a film, which merits to be brought on DVD by me.

DrowArchmage 03-22-2005 06:03 PM

My names constantine,john constantin a**whole

DrowArchmage 03-26-2005 10:52 PM
