"IGN FilmForce has learned that the live-action feature film version of The Transformers will indeed be a DreamWorks project, which confirms rumors that appeared online earlier this week. DreamWorks Pictures has inked a deal with toy king Hasbro to make The Transformers; Paramount Pictures will handle the foreign rights. Also confirming earlier Web buzz, DreamWorks honcho Steven Spielberg did indeed use his personal relationship with Hasbro founder Alan Hassenfeld to bring The Transformers over to DreamWorks."

Read the link for more info, for the producers and stuff.

I can't wait till....2006... *stares at dustball rolling by*

Hell, I can wait! :D

Steven Spielberg?

If it was any other director but him, I would have been very cynical about this movie.

Woah.

But, he's not going to be the director for it, is he?

Ilander 08-10-2004 11:42 AM

Transformers ROCKED...in the early nineties cartoon, anyway...haven't watched any of the new series...but the old ones are great...good news, Sigmar...plus it's good to have you back!

Apparently it's between Robert Zemeckis and Senor Speilbergio.

Tom DeSanto is producing The Transformers along with Don Murphy

Frank Welker and Peter Culling are returning to supply the voices for their respective characters (Prime, Megatron, Ironhide, Soundwave, Rumble/Frenzy, et al)

Studio confirmed.

Its set in the Generation 1 US comic continuity.

The rest is speculation.

Speilberg did say he wanted to be directly involved with the movie, but he didn't say to what extent.

Ilander obviously I love everything "transformers related" and I therefore agree with you :D Thanks for the welcome back!

Gangrell 08-14-2004 03:12 AM

Wow, I haven't seen a transformers show since that virtual one they had on Cartoon Network a couple of years ago with Reboot.

Good to see big names backing this, should be a good movie.

SecretMaster 08-14-2004 03:25 PM

Umm yeah, even then I think they're gonna cut down on the number of Tformers present in the first run of G1, otherwise they won't be able to develop their characters properly.

Which Powermaster series btw?

Was that "Masterforce" or "Headmasters"?

Kakero 08-16-2004 05:49 AM

Here's the link. Apperently I'm talking about the 2nd season. though I clearly still remember it was named ' Transformer PowerMaster series " by the TV.

Do you follow Transformers then, do you watch the old series' or read the comics?

Kakero 08-16-2004 09:52 PM

Looking at the link I unknowingly have watch the entire 3 season. I may have also watch the entire old series as well.

Neato! :D Haven't seen Masterforce or Victory myself yet.

If you're a comic book fan I recommend you pick up the Titan reissues of the original comics, the best continuity in my opinion.

The new Dreamwave transformer comics/tradebacks are also awesome and far superior to their cartoon counterparts.

All these are aviliable from Amazon.co.uk btw.
