Alright so heres the question. If there was any band that you could see play live a current band or a band that has broken up or a band that is no longer alive what 1 AND ONLY!!! 1 would you want too see?
And Please Only say one band as your answer. As for me I still need to think about it for I don't even know what 1 band i would pick. |
Already have.
Metallica Nobody else matters. |
Well, I've already seen my fav band, TOOL, live 3 times.
So for now I'd have to go with.....um..... I dunno...... Mr Bungle. |
Metallica...after watching the "Cunning Stunts" concert, and hearing about several others, I must see them! GO LARRY!
|
Rock, on brothers. The APostles are strong in IW...
and, Larry, you meant, "Nothing else matters." ;) |
I think it was an allusion, Drew...
|
Unfortunaly the one i would really like to see isnt together any more, but Rage Against the machine
|
Green Day

Don't really have one must-see band myself, though if I have to chose, it's probably Pavement. They hardly knew how to play their instruments and have a very questionable live reputation; but despite all that, that was actually their charm, the factor that made their music so irresistable. |

I think the Prodigy would be an interesting experience. But I also saw a video of a Nightwish concert, and that's where I want to be next.

Tool, which I was supposed to see at a festival once :(
|
Red Hot Chili Peppers!!
(Sorry if I go on about them too much ) Add - Rammstein as well.... maybe.... [ 07-22-2004, 06:22 AM: Message edited by: Jaradu ] |
Tough question. I think I cut down the bands first to Epica, After Forever and Children of Bodom. I'm probably going to some After Forever so that one's out. I can't really choose between the other two. I'll go to a concert if there are more people I know go as well so both could happen though CoB has more chance so I think I go for Epica. All those bands are so normal though, like 2 are from the Netherlands so it's not hard to go to a concert and lately CoB has been around here often too. Then some other bands Nirvana or Einherjer (they are split up). I think I'd go for Einherjer then as I liked some songs from their last CD a lot, real viking metal! edit for clarification (I meant one band CoB but you could think I listed 2): Nope not good enough cause:
edit: Now I think of it I'll go for Children of Bodom in the formation they did 'something wild' till 'hatecrew death roll' in, would like to see them in this formation since their guitar player left :( [ 07-26-2004, 12:24 PM: Message edited by: philip ] |
I think I have finally decided that I would want to see Insomnium play live.
BTW I noticed some of you put more then one band and that kind of defeats the point of my question which clearly stated 1 and ONLY 1 band. |
Placebo
i already seen Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Blur who are my 2 favorite bands ^_^ |

I meant "nobody" as in no other band matters...but as Ilander pointed out,,,I was making a play of words. Where's my hammer...I am going whack you on the head for that one! http://home.comcast.net/~lrmwiley/hammerthrow.gif |
Since you can also pick deceased artists, I'll say Jimi Hendrix.
|
The Pixies

I have to note, though, that would would see them with Jason Newstead on the bass guitar...what about you, Larry and Dron?

The band I want to see but probably never will is Smashing Pumpkins. |
Flllllllllllooooooooooooooooooooyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyyyydddddddd.
Yeah, Pink Floyd, thats about it. Or since they broke up at least see Roger Waters live (he's going on tour again so yay for me) |
I would have said Kraftwerk, but hen I remembered Ramstein, so its Ramstein for me.
I just love German bands. |
Hmm...I've seen all of my favorite bands a few times at least, (whatcha get for living in SoCal ;) ) except for 2 of them: Metallica and Linkin Park. Yes they did a concert together last year, but I missed it do to the fact I was in Texas
|
I'd have to say Guns 'N' Roses in the early ninties. definately.

I heard that Godsmack has been really kicking hardcore butt concerting with Metalica which is cool. I might get to see Lacuda Coil in concert, that might be cool. \m/

No one! (and no, I'm not referring to a band)
The problem is that your either looking for good live sound OR a good show (or both). Either are EXTREMELY hard to come by, and finding both is damn near impossible. The really great performances were in the 70's (sure the decade was utterly tacky - but the concerts were awesome). So that leaves us with Secret Masters pick IF they stroll-out again, (or my alternitive to Metallica). As for Metallica - puuuleeeeeeese. Crappy live sound (proving that even distortion can be distorted), with a mediocre show and only a few excellent songs (and most of the songs are a case of same song second verse, same as the first). Though their few good songs are infinitly better musically (not lyrically) than Iron Maiden, they are really nothing more than a poor substitute when comparing live performances. (though obviously Iron Maiden went to hell some time ago..) Now the real deal for sonic substance by comparison is AC/DC. No they haven't done anything much for the past decade BUT, I'd sure like to see them live again (please pass the nachos.. uh, on second thought you can keep the nachos). They are everything metallica band members WANT to be. |
My brother has been to 2 Metallica concerts...he said they were amazing
edit: and as a matter of fact, I've seen their live dvd, looks pretty awesome to me! [ 07-29-2004, 12:40 AM: Message edited by: Lady Blue03 ] |
It says something about todays live performances that a mediocre show and poor sound can be thought of as "amazing". (and frankly I can't disagree with it, their performance is "amazing" in comparison to most other live performances today..)
|
Well, Scott, as I wasn't alive in the 70's, I guess I have nothing to compare to. Also, Larry, I wasn't suggesting/implicating you didnt know the song, just making my ever-present Metallica reference. Cant help it, obsessive compulsive. Anways, Poo, I want to see them NOW, as I've seen the DVD concerts (which I, also, thought were amazing), and have heard that they're better than ever, and with more energy. ;)
And, Larry, that hammer hurt! Take this! And this! |
Yoko Kanno & the Seatbelts.
|
Before my time: Hendrix at Woodstock.
During my time: Phish at Halloween or New Year's. (I would have picked the Dead during their last year of touring, but I already got to see that :D ) |
Hmmm... I would definitely go to see Bruce Hornsby again. He goes out to have fun... and that's contagious. :D
I'd also enjoy KISS again -- though the schtick is old, and the egos are getting in the way, they are all about entertainment |
I'd go for Fleetwood Mac. I like their sound, chemistry, variety, and musicianship.
A close second would be Jonny Lang. Amazing guitarist, and I've heard his live shows are excellent and lively. |
Have already seen them, but definitely Metallica again. They put up great shows, have nothing but awesome songs (as they play very few from St. Anger) and simply radiate coolness. To say that they know how to keep a crowd satisfied and entertained for some 2 and a half hours is an understatement.

"I'd go for Fleetwood Mac"
ooohhhhhh, Stevie singing Sarah.. "undoing laces" - "don't you ever stop". (makes me think of Sarah Michelle Gellar in the early episodes of Buffy, wearing a "dreamy" sweater with lace fringe.) Stevie's way past her prime, and the group was only a "good" perfomance group live.. still though, just for that one song.. (I remember Pasadena Cal. early 80's when they were positivly combustible - worse than the Eagles. The show suffered for it, except for TUSK - which actually seemed to thrive on their mutual dislike) Ohh, and yup - KISS, very little substance or musical quality, but a damn-fine show. Coldplay would be very cool to see live.
|
On the Metallica note, I've seen their DVD "Cunning Stunts" and was VERY entertained...and a few of my friends went to see them with Godsmack, and said the concert was BETTER than "Cunning Stunts."
As far as the "one band I want to see live" goes, I don't necessarily want the guys to do back flips and put on the laser light show overhead, and have pyrotechnics out the wazoo...I just want the music, and enough volume to make me have to scream to speak to the person standing (no, not sitting) next to me...plus, I want to drain a lighter...and I would do all of that at a Metallica concert...! |
