On Rowling's new website that she herself is running, she announced the title of the new book as well as provides useful information, for example, Crookshanks is part Kneazle. Doing a search on Google will tell you what that is.

She also promised to drop hints and confirm or shoot down rumors on her site.

jkrowling.com

She mentions how book six and book two are related, and how book six contains information that was originally set for book two. She also said that book six and seven are so close in relation that the two of them is like writing one big final act. Alot of clues to seven are in six.

Will book seven be her last Potter book Larry?

Any date given yet for the release?

Dundee Slaytern 07-03-2004 05:19 AM

Well... she did state very early on that the entire series will be seven and only seven books. The storyline is actually all planned out already. She has had the footnotes for years before the first book got published.

Bahamut 07-03-2004 11:34 AM

Hmm... yes... the question is can they make all seven movies also. With the same cast I might add...

Lady Blue03 07-05-2004 02:01 AM

Well witches/wizards ect only spend 7 years at hogwarts before they 'graduate', so hence the 7 books. So unless she plans to write anything on what Harry does after he graduates...assuming he lives, of course :D there won't be more than 7

I´ve heard that "The Prisoner of Azkaban" was the last one with that cast, they grow too fast hehe

Oblivion437 07-13-2004 03:45 PM

That's alright, really.

Now, anyone who read the fourth book...THPOILERTH!!!

Well, anyone who read the fourth book would know that the title most likely applies to Harry's arch-nemesis.

END THPOILERTH, THILLY GOOTHETH!

Black Baron 07-13-2004 04:12 PM

You know, after i finish "the drizzt parody project" that is published in my "drizzt" thread (and what you see is just a draft anyway, i will update it sometime not soon. I plan to write a chapter or two and then rewrite it) , i seriously think about paroding Harry Potter, or similar quality book. The fifth book had me laughing mad for 3.5 hours when i reached the "prophecy" part. As i say- when the author has absolutely no idea what to write, he writes about some prophecy. Gosh! I still giggle like an imbecile when i remember it.

Edit: saw my post count. Oh NOOOOOOO!! I will be in 10 more post THE MUNCHKIN!! Woe to Me!!

After the third movie, I don't want to even see the rest. I'm sorry, but it was a huge bust, and I can't see how they make the 4th and fifth book when they are so big compared to the third.

Time to update.

'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' to be Published 16th July 2005

There's alot of interesting stuff on that website! Some rumors, some explanations about plot and characters...some spoilers (marked as such) and some links to websites where people fuss and fight with the author of the series as though they know more than she.

I don't like the sound of the title, doesn't sound magicky and when it mentions prince I automatically think of the tagline...
"Formerly known as Harry Potter".

philip 01-06-2005 04:29 PM

Can't wait. I think I'll wait till the holidays begore getting it or I'll have it finished before I go on vacation.

Blunderbuss 01-06-2005 04:44 PM

I don't get it. They're not even that good, are they? I've read them all and have to admit they seemed a little boring to me. The fifth one was much longer than it needed to be and had an embarrasingly bad ending. Oh well, we''ll just have to wait and see. (However, I think the films were probably worse).

LOL :D . Well, apparently, the half-blood prince isn't Harry or Voldemort, so I don't think that tagline will be suitable ;)

Or she won't say. But it definitely isn't Harry Potter, Lord Voldemort nor Tom Riddle. So it's a mystery. I can't wait! :D

Sir Degrader 01-06-2005 07:03 PM

Is it that damn Janitor noone likes? The pedophile that likes to torture the kids. I can't remember his name now, it starts with an "s" I think.

Before you parody HP, maybe you ought to read the parody already out there. "Barry Trotter and the Unauthorized Parody."

She said she wanted parts of this book to be in the second book, so I have a theory. But I doubt it it's him. :D

Dundee Slaytern 01-06-2005 10:01 PM

Hagrid is a half-ogre. His mum might be a Queen. After all, we know little of his family.

He's half-giant. And apparently half-blood means half muggle and half wizard. It's an expression the Death Eaters like to call those that aren't pure blood (only half wizard, muggle borns are mudbloods). Or so I read online.

Also, giants don't have kings and queens but Gurgs (chief giants). ... But maybe his mum was a Gurg and a son of the Gurg is a prince... who knows. :D

Filch i belive was the janitor's name. And i agree that the 3rd movie totaly bombed. I love the harry potter books, but the 3rd movie was embarssaing. They should stop with the movies, serisously...i can't see them doing four or five.

Spelca 01-08-2005 02:10 PM

But the third film was the best from the films, in my opinion at least.

Ivelliis 01-08-2005 03:55 PM

I have a theory for this Book 2 Book 6 thing, but I'll also have to wait and see.

Sythe I'm also going to have to read books 1 to 5 again as well :D

Intrepid 01-10-2005 11:38 AM

I did suppose it might have been Longbottom, or Hagrid, but i am unsure. After all it could be one of those little kids that harry taught in the DA meetings, or some other person... i don't know, i have a bad history of predictions, so i shall make none. (maybe Hagrid though....)

Mr_Krift 01-15-2005 09:39 AM

I guess i could see hagrid...

Can't be Longbottom, both his parents are alive and well, although their brains are destroyed. They were both Aurors, therefore they have to have been a witch and a wizard.

I've heard things about Dean Thomas (boy in Gryffindor) being the Half Blood Prince. Something in one of the books where he says:

"Mums a witch, dad didn't half get a shock when she told him, he's a milkman".

Few things I know:

*If you don't want to be spoiled, don't read below!*

His shortest stay at Privet(sp?) Drive is in Book 6, this means less than four weeks. He will also leave for a much more pleasant reason.

Check MuggleNet for theories, facts, and squashed rumours, it's a great site, that's where I've made my theories from.

Did you guys hear about people from a town in Germany (I think) who were putting lots of bets on about who would die in book 6. It's a coincidence that the town is right next to a factory printing HBP. I won't post the name for spoiler reasons, but if you don't know PM me and I'll tell.

JK's publishers said "Don't believe any rumours unless they come from us or JK herself."

7 days 7 hours at time of posting! Shame I have preordered it at Waterstones and not Amazon, that means I have to go into town to get it :(

Guess I won't do anything but read on the 16th

Harry Potter books were briefly on sale in a store in Canada, until they got stopped, and those that have bought copies are asked to return the books to await the official release date, promising them autographed copies if they do. Also...a court injunction has barred anyone from spreading gossip about the plot!

What a news story, eh?

Larry_OHF 07-13-2005 02:51 PM

I read the news this morning that says that in New York, in a drug store a woman bought a copy of the new HP when she saw several on sale, and her kid read the first two pages as she learned that in Canada that this event had occurred and that a court judge had requested that all books be returned. She called the Publisher who put a stop to the sales, and the woman returned her son's book with a promise from the publishers that they would reward her for her honesty and assistance.

What a crazy couple of days its been, eh?

Aelia Jusa 07-14-2005 08:55 PM

I have had to rearrange my normal saturday routine so I can be at the shops by 9 to get my copy!

Wasn't there a shop in canada that accidentally sold copies of the last book as well? How could a mistake like that happen I wonder?

Sir Goulum 07-14-2005 09:02 PM

They forget it isn't out yet or confuse it with the previous one? Who knows... probably an honest mistake, anyways.

Link 07-15-2005 03:38 AM

Well, I don't think it's an honest mistake. Rowling has gone through lengths and lengths of her time to ensure the books does't leak.

Larry_OHF 07-15-2005 11:52 AM

My stores open at 8am in the morning (For this reason only),,,and that is East Coast time...so I will be one of the first in the US to get mine!

Larry_OHF 07-15-2005 12:14 PM

CNN has a cool report on Potter-mania, and names two other places that books were "accidently" for sale.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/book...ter/index.html

Ivelliis 07-15-2005 12:50 PM

I've actually been sent a screenshot of a page of the book (temptation got the better of me, I couldn't resist) saying who dies. I'm not going to say for obvious reasons, but if you really can't wait another 6 hours and 10 minutes then PM me and I'll show you it.

Not sure if it's legit, but the page number fits in with the amount in the book.

Sir Goulum 07-15-2005 06:57 PM

Well, they could have put in any page under 2or300 and it'd probably be fine. I wouldn't put any stock in it.

Aelia Jusa 07-15-2005 09:11 PM

I have my copy! I am up to chapter 6. Bugger that I have a client this afternoon and can't keep reading it!

Larry_OHF 07-15-2005 09:21 PM

Just for safety,,,I will not visit this thread again until I have finished the book.

No Spoilers are allowed in this thread, please. If somebody wants to create another thread and put spoilers in it...please clearly mark the thread title...
