my brother just found this movie on DVD and though I have yet to re-watch it, I am wondering if you guys would watch it, it is a movie from the 80's for those who wonder, I will probably watch it later today or tomorrow, just to see if it is as good as I thought it was when a kid, or not, what do you think? :D

Bozos of Bones 06-10-2004 09:52 AM

Is that the school something with chaotic kids and this and that with the song Stand By Me? If so, watch it.

Stormymystic 06-10-2004 10:27 AM

no, that was lean on me, this is about a group of friends who are searching for a teenagers body trying to become heros to each other, as well as their town it is based on a stephen king novel called the body

Bozos of Bones 06-10-2004 02:01 PM

Ah, yes. Thanks for reminding me.
I don't see a problem in seeing that movie. If you've got it, watch it, and then tell us how it was.

Morgeruat 06-10-2004 02:06 PM

of course you should weatch it it's got Wil Wheaton in it (www.wilwheaton.net) (aka Wesley Crusher from ST: TNG) he's a much cooler guy than the poorly written character he played on TV. Also the scene with the leeches was real (with real leeches according to his FAQ he's still scarred *down there*)

Oh I thought that you meant lean on me, was going to say that its a classic. I have not seen Stand by me. But I would watch it as I am a Stephen King fan.

Stormymystic 06-11-2004 12:03 AM

:D I watched it, and no, there is a big difference between Lean on me, and Stand by me, it was not what I remembred, but still seems a good classic, now for the next movie tomorrow.. The Outsiders...my brothe bought a bunch of old movies, so can not wait to see them, lol, and I know all about stephen king, am trying to find his latest gunslinger book, but it is still in the hard back, so will cost me more than I can afford :/

Lady Sedai 06-11-2004 08:05 AM

I thought the making of the short story "The Body" into the movie "Stand By Me" was very good.

I have owned the movie for years and watch it from time to time.

"The Outsiders" is also a good movie. Read that book, too. ;)

Megabot 06-11-2004 08:50 AM

Sounds pretty okay that one but not available here anyway so i cant see the movie.

Stormymystic 06-11-2004 10:41 AM

aww sorry megabot :/ it is a good movie, just older than most in the way of a plot ;) and I have read the outsiders it is good

Timber Loftis 06-11-2004 11:40 AM

Megabot 06-11-2004 12:10 PM

Stormymystic 06-11-2004 12:58 PM

http://www.fast-rewind.com/ here MB maybe this will help, not sure though

Mack_Attack 06-11-2004 06:01 PM

Well I would say it is a good movie but IMO it falls a little short of being a classic. It would depend what era you come from. :D

Outsiders is getting a little closer to a classic. ;)

Jorath Calar 06-11-2004 07:04 PM

Ah I love that film although I only seen it once when I was about 15...
Now I really want to see it again

shadowhound 06-11-2004 08:27 PM

The Outsiders sounds familier, what was it about (not sure but I think I read the book)

Mack_Attack 06-12-2004 02:31 PM

It is a classic east and west side clash. The preps against the greasers. On the greaser side you have some very big up and coming actors. And do not forget pony boy. You should check it out. Not a bad movie.

Bahamut 06-13-2004 12:16 AM

Yes of course! "Stand By Me" is a classic in my opinion... :D

Friendship... in all goodness and sorrow...

ah right the one by S.E. Hinton, couldn't for the life of me recall what movie you were talking about till you describeed it, I agree it's a classic.

Mack_Attack 06-14-2004 12:32 PM

I think most of the masses at least had to read it in school. :D

Morgeruat 06-14-2004 01:11 PM

*nods* I read it a few times in school, and several of her other books. Outsiders was mandatory, but a good read all the same.

Stormymystic 06-14-2004 02:01 PM

I got the movie now, so I am gonna watch it as soon as my husband goes back to work :D

Seen the film, read the book - both are great!
