<font color=deepskyblue>An excellent idea, <font color=dodgerblue>VulcanRider</font>. I was just thinking the same thing myself.

<font color=white>Xen</font> and <font color=coral>Balintherlas</font> both had open quotes from the previous thread. They can either re-post those quotes here (with additional clues) or just list new quotes since nobody guessed the other ones.

In the meantime, I'll start the ball rolling with a new quote.

<font color=lime>Secretary: "Your client, (Client Name), is on Line 2. He has violated his probation and been arrested for armed robbery again and wants you to give him some legal advice."
Lead character: (takes phone) "STOP BREAKING THE LAW!"</font>

I can't remember the Client's Name, but it is irrelevant. It should still be a fairly easy guess.</font>

teardropmina 05-08-2004 02:28 PM

To me, the funniest line in the whole Liar Liar actually is in the end credit/outtake -- the woman lawyer shouts at Jim Carrey, "overactor!" :D

my turn...mmm...
1.
A: "What about love?"
B: "Overrated. Biochemically no different than eating large quantities of chocolate."

also toss out two others...
2.
"There's no sacrifice too great for a chance at immortality."

3.
A: "I asked you once if I could be your mother; you didn't want that."
B: "You want to be my mother? You could be my mother; I don't have any mother...so you could be my mother...why would you want to be my mother?"
A: "I don't know...just want to clear things up."
B: "You're my mother; you're my father; you're my mother...you're my whole family...you're even my friend <A> ...you're my girlfriend too."

My quote is from Western.

yes. Your turn now

If you don't know from this, I'll post some more.
Character: "We need bigger guns."

I loved that movie. It's the one with Rudger Hauer right? After failing to kill the monster: "We need bigger guns" "WE NEED BIGGER GUNS!". :D
Too bad I can't remember the title. It was something with 'twilight' in it, I think

btw, the "bigger guns" line seems to show up in not just one movie. maybe need to go for the first movie that delivers the line?

Xen 05-09-2004 02:43 PM

My is from Unforgiven. So here`s a new quote:
wich should be pretty easey:

" Why, [main character]? Why do you do it? Why get up? Why keep fighting? Do you believe you're fighting for something? For more that your survival? Can you tell me what it is? Do you even know? Is it freedom? Or truth? Perhaps peace? Yes? No? Could it be for love? Illusions, [main character]. Vagaries of perception. The temporary constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose. And all of them as artificial as the [program] itself, although only a human mind could invent something as insipid as love. You must be able to see it, [main character]. You must know it by now. You can't win. It's pointless to keep fighting. Why, [main character]? Why? Why do you persist?"

Bozos of Bones 05-09-2004 06:43 PM

I've noticed that line appears in a few other flicks, so I'm posting another quote:
Character 1: "I am Philippe Roaché, DGSE - Direction Générale de la Sécurité Extérieure."
Character 2: "It sounds... big."
Character 1: "French Secret Service."
Character 2: "Oh."

P.S.
As unbelieveable as it may seem, Xen's quote is from Matrix 3. 235% sure.

<font color=deepskyblue>I took the liberty of scanning Amazon.com for Rutger Hauer films. I remembered the previews from the movie but never actually saw it.

The movie you are talking about is <font color=white>Split Second</font>, in which Rutger Hauer plays the proverbial loner cop hunting down a vicious serial killer - which just happens to be a big, sewer-dwelling alien. One of the reviews of the movie even mentioned the line about needing "bigger guns" and that same line was even in the previews (IIRC).

Anyway, that's my guess.</font>

Ok, here's a new one:
<font color=yellow>
A:How much can you decipher?
B: 15%
A:Really decipher?
B: 10%
A: That's one word in ten! You're guessing!
B: We like to call it "analysis."
</font>

Bozos of Bones 05-11-2004 01:45 PM

OkiDoki*orcish voice*, this one's up:
Character 1: "Do you know what a wire transfer is?"
Character 2: "Is she for real. Sweetheart is there anything else you need to do, let us big boys have a conversation."
Character 1: "Conversation. A word with four syllables. Do you want some ice before your brain overheats."
Character 2: "Ice. Yeah, you could chisel some off your heart, if you could find it."

Oh, how romantic

I'm not sure which clue you're talking about, but if it's mine in <font color=yellow> yellow </font> you're wrong...

VulcanRider 05-12-2004 07:07 PM

Nobody's got mine after a couple of days to think about it, so it's time for another clue:
First clue:
<font color = yellow>
A:How much can you decipher?
B: 15%
A:Really decipher?
B: 10%
A: That's one word in ten! You're guessing!
B: We like to call it "analysis."
</font>
Second clue:
<font color = yellow>
A: Can I ask you something personal? Very personal?
B: Sure.
A: It really stinks down here. How often do some of your people take a bath?
B: What day is it?
</font>
Hope that helps...

well, it seems not many people feel like playing this time around. at any event, I'll toss out some more quotes, even if nobody wants to play, only because they so belongs to IW :D

from the same movie (original dialogue in Polish),

*"I wish I was a Warrior like you. Then I can play solo. I'm a thief, and who the hell's ever heard of a solo Thief? huh? We're nothing without a team. We scrounge our supplies...snoop around, scout ahead. We're like tour guides."

*"...a secret level where you can't reset to escape, a level that's got to be played to the end. It's a killer. The degree of difficulty is off the charts. But then, so's the number of experience points you could get."

*A:"You gonna make the switch? Warrior to Bishop? It's one way of finding the Ghost, yeah?"
B:"As a solo? Never."
A:"Well, Murphy was solo, after all."
B:"Yeah, but, my God, a level-12 Bishop..."
A:"Hey...what level are you? 12? 13? Of course, you need more than that. To switch to Bishop, you need double the experience points. You know that's no piece of cake. Look at Murphy. Took him forever. Yeah. A whole lot of time, a whole lot of cash. Still, he ended up with about as many points as anyone, I guess. Even so, didn't do him much good in the end, did they?"

*"I want us to form a team. Standard set-up of six members. Me and two other warriors, a Thief, of course...and, if possible, a Mage."

Cerek the Barbaric 05-20-2004 10:54 AM

<font color=deepskyblue>I don't have a clue to the answer, <font color=coral>teardropmina</font>, but my curiosity is killing me.

I would REALLY like to know the answer, because it sounds as if the characters are playing some type of CRPG based on <font color=palegreen>Aliens</font>.</font>

teardropmina 05-20-2004 12:27 PM

ok, Cerek, it's Avalon (2001)... one of Oshii Mamoru's live action films.

Mamoru's most famous movie here in the US is Ghost in the Shell. His animation features are great, and so are his live action movies

I think you can find region 1 DVD of Avalon. Check it out at your own risk though his movies are offbeat and "slow" (or "artsy") by the mainstream anime and action genre stanard.

Cerek the Barbaric 06-12-2004 01:31 PM

<font color=deepskyblue>Well, it's time to make another attempt at reviving this thread. Here is my quote to re-start this thread:

<font color=lime>
Lead character: "You're the disease. I'm the cure."</font></font>

Thanks Cerek. Mine goes something like this:
<font color="#33FF33">
"You killed a woman with a baby in her arms!"
"No, the baby was in a carrier. In her arms she was carrying a Mac 10"

gahh, I know I should know this one :/ but for the life of me, I am unsure what it is

"No, the baby was in a carrier. In her arms she was carrying a Mac 10," said Clarice Starling in Hannibal.
