Anyone seen the new Jason/Freddy movie? Is it any good?

I've only seen the preview about 100 times and it looks..........stupid to me. Though I know some people who believe it would be good for a few laughs.

I thought it was going to be "decent" to say the least, but after I looked at a Windows Media preview of Freddy as a catapillar taking a hit off a bong, I lost interest :(

AzRaeL StoRmBlaDe 08-15-2003 06:17 PM

Its going to be bad, but I'm sure I'll see it anyway. Its a matchup I've waited my whole life to see. I remember talking with my friends many times when we were younger about which one of these badarses would win in a fight. My money is on Jason. But who knows, Freddy can definitely handle his own. . .

Does Jason sleep??

Darn good point! You know.....Since Jason's sorta dead...He really can't sleep right? So, how would Freddy get to him? Wasn't Jason in space not too long ago?

Lord Lothar 08-16-2003 12:18 AM

Looks like a stupid movie. I'd say Freddy, he looks eviler.

Sigmar 08-16-2003 03:54 AM

It's actually a suprisingly good movie, not scary really but very gory. Apparently it was much more than most people were expecting. :D

Xen 08-16-2003 11:11 AM

What is the point of this movie anyway?/Me wonders...

Squeezing the dying franchises for every last cent they can get out of them. ;)

Gangrell 08-17-2003 12:06 PM

I actually looked at the movie previews website that talked about what the movie was about. Spoilers for those who haven't seen it.

Jason is actually sleeping, and Freddy incidently bumps into his dreams.

They've dragged both series of movies on and on for years, but thankfully this movie ignores Jason X (man that sucked), but it does also ignore Wes Craven's previous Night on Elm Street movie.

Hopefully, one of them will stay dead in this movie

With the mega bucks this movie is making it may actually breath life into both of them. Never liked Nightmare on Elm Street, but I enjoyed some of the Friday the 13th movies.
I thought the only one that was any good was the 4th Elm Street movie, Dreams Warriors.

Ziroc 08-22-2003 11:07 AM

I went to see this with the mindset that it was going to be a silly non-horror movie, but I was SHOCKED at how WELL they pulled this Movie off! It was probably one of my favorite 'slightly horror' campy movies of 2003.

Yeah, all the typical things are in it, the 'walk backwards into the killer' trick is used, and stuff.

I left the Theater actually very happy. New Line did a fantastic job on this movie! BTW, I know the actor that PLAYED Jason! He was a stunt dude, and if you look close, in the crazyhouse at the beginning of the Movie, and you see that big ass guy wanting to play checkers--THAT IS THE ACTOR that played Jason!! lol! I knew it was him the second I saw him.

Anyway, I took some other friends to see it a second time, and we had a blast! The sucker pulled a FIRST PLACE slot, which I was shocked about. I was telling friends that this will hit either 2nd or 3rd, but now that they tripled the income on it based on budget, I can say for sure that there WILL be a rematch, but..... heh.. I know a secret!!

New Line Cinema is trying to get the movie rights to own Halloween. Micheal Myres vs Jason. THAT would be cool, lol! I wonder if Mustafa Akkad would do that though?

Jason X sucked big nasty rocks, btw. pretend it didn't happen. I did.

I wonder if the Jason and Freddy Krugger movies will ever come to an end. There's been 14 Friday the 13th movies and 7 Nightmare on Elm Streets.
Freddy vs. Jason looks very stupid. It's good for some entertainment, though.

I was surprised that the webmaster went to see Freddy vs. Jason. Ziroc have you seen all the Freddy and Jason? Are you really into horror movies? Just curious.

Ziroc, a buddy of mine was telling me just last night how good this movie was. I may give it a look-see. Truthfully, though, are there enough special effects to go see it on the silver screen instead of some of the other movies this summer, or can I wait for video?

First and Second Nightmare movies were good. First was CLASSIC. I even liked #3 enough to go sit through #4 (Freddy's kid, right?)

Ft13 #1 was good, another classic -- with a way weird ending, #2 was okay, #3+ was all camp. However, #7 has my FAVORITE bit from this line of movies. Jason kills this one dude whose in his sleeping bag by picking up the bag and swinging it at a tree Sosa-style. It was so FUNNY. :D I remember I was there with a group of friends from Jr. High and we took up a whole row in the theatre annoying everyone. Well, when this bit happened we ALL just died laughing. I'm betting right now that neither Freddy nor Jason will come out the winner.
There's likely going to be another seqeul just for them to have a rematch ( and too suck people into seeing more). When will it end???????????????????

Nah, number five was the Dream Child, but as for the best Friday the 13th Movie, I still say it will always be the Final Friday. Jason X just flat out sucked.

When one of the actors kick the bucket is my guess.

NewbietoRPGs 08-23-2003 08:59 PM

Which Friday the 13th was the one that at the end of the movie Freddy's hand comes up through the ground, grabs Jason's mask and drags it down to hell? Was that #9? I can't remember the title.

I have seen most of them.. But most of them are more comedy that horror. I like SOME horror flicks, like that REALLY campy 'Phantasm' movie...

But my #1 all time REAL horror flick is Halloween (the original). And second is 'The Fog'. creepy movies, both.

Yep, that was #9. I forget the title, too, especially since after the first two Friday the 13th movies they were not that great.

Which Phantasm? The first one was whacked out, but if you think about it the jumbled storyline made perfect sense (it could be aliens at work, or it could be that Michael, after losing his parents and brother, was going crazy). Of course, they take the former route once they did the second movie many years later (would have been a boring movie if they stated that he just went crazy).

I agree with Halloween, along with the Exorcist. I actually was not all that scared by The Fog, even though I saw it as a child. I just related with the ghosts too much, and by the end of the movie I was rooting for them (they were less evil than some of the people they were killing off). Still a good movie, though!

I will wait for Freddy v.s. Jason to come out on cable. Good home popcorn munching movie (nothing like graphic violence and popcorn to make a good movie experience ;) ).
