This year isn't as good as last years, heck, a lot of the losers last year could sing better than this group. So it's kind of like "who sucks the least" kind of contest LOL.

The worst part was last night, they made them sing Neil Sadaka songs!!!! Neil Sadaka...!!! Who's brilliant idea was that?? Blech! And the military guy actually decided to sing "Bad Blood"! the worst song of all!. Was hoping he'd get voted off tonight... just for that song choice alone LOL! But instead it's come to a tie between Shernise (or whatever) and Ruben (big guy), LOL crowd is booing away, camera panning to all sorts of different sad outraged faces LOL.

Dunno why I keep watching. Guess it's like a circus, want to see the next act LOL.

My wife is really into American Idol as well. I can't stand the show. How do you become an instant Idol. It isn't even about the music most of the time. Let's see if you are a great singer by doing Sedaka songs. Maybe next week it will be Willie Nelson. I don't know what this program is all about. Looks? Singing? Clothes? All I can say is that if I have to hear it in the background while I'm on the computer, at least those 2 no-talent blonde haired girls are gone.

Reeka 04-30-2003 10:19 PM

Well, I guess I am prejudiced because I am a musician---primarily a singer (have a degree in music.) I didn't watch it last year but I have been watching it this year (mainly because the guy Rubin is from Birmingham, Alabama.). I guess it seems a little odd some of the music they have them sing, but I can understand it: A "true" talent can sing a variety of songs from different genres. I think they are trying to see would be a "one shot wonder" and who really has talent. Tonight, I think the appropriate persone "Trenyce" (sp?) got the boot. I was with the judges on being shocked that Rubin was in the bottom two. I agree with the judges that I hope people are voting for the voice and can get past the fact that Rubin is, to be blunt, a big fat guy. People may not realize it, but Rubin studied music in college and is a trained musician (not that that makes somebody an idol). I thought Josh or Trenyce would go and I was right about Trenyce---Rubin was a shock and really shouldn't have been in that position.

My opinion of the last four in order: Rubin and Clay 0 tied for first, Kimberly, and then Josh. I predict Josh will be out next week. We will see if I get it right.

I hope your right, because I think Rubin has the best voice of the bunch! Gives us fat guys hope! :D

Timber Loftis 05-01-2003 02:15 PM

Well, it's America's votes, so Josh is getting the Brainwash-Support-for-Soldiers votes. Which is keeping him around longer than he deserves.

And Clay did a fine job with Sedaka songs. I'm sure he'll win, as the "gay guys love the show and love to vote for cute skinny guys" votes will definately tip the scales down the stretch. You should check out gay bars in boys-town here in Chicago, where they play American Idol full blast on the tele and where a general hush falls over the room when he comes on to sing. I've only seen this spectacle once, but aside from the general "Girl, he is FINE" comment, it was almost like reverence.

Reeka 05-01-2003 11:30 PM

Well, like I said, it SHOULD come down to between Clay and Rubin (I thnk he spells it with an "i"---I could be wrong). They are by far the BEST voices there. TL, I think you may have something there with the "soldier-sympathy vote" for Josh. Kimberly is a good singer, but she just isn't exciting to me.

I had heard rumors that Clay was gay, I didn't know that it was an established fact as you think it is, TL.

Well, we will all have to tune in next week. Meanwhile, GO RUBIN!!!

I didn't say he was gay. I said he was cute and thin and would get the gay vote. I'm pretty certain the gay community really likes this guy. He may or may not be - and I wish him well regardless. And, he and Rubin are the best.

I had my suspicions during the episode where someone in the audience asked Clay who he would want to act as himself in a movie (hope that sentance made sense). He turned to Simon and asked 'Simon are you open?'

That could be taken the wrong way if you think about it.

Reeka 05-02-2003 10:25 PM

I guess you are right that that could be taken "the wrong way." Do you think he was implying that Simon is gay?

Timber Loftis 05-06-2003 09:05 PM

Simon has to be gay. Who else can be so critical of others for shortcomings they obviously share? :D Actually, I think Simon has much too much of a stick up his butt for there to be room for anything else. ;)

My wife just called to let me know she voted for Clay 8 times tonight. She loves that little... effiminate... guy.

Oh well, gottta go all -see ya on da flip side

Reeka 05-06-2003 09:19 PM

I'm trying to vote for Ruben but I can't seem to get through. Well, I think it comes down to Ruben and Clay---they were both brilliant tonight.

Rimjaw 05-08-2003 09:51 AM

Well Josh is out. While he should have gone out last week I felt Kim had the poorer performance this week. Ruben's performance was good as usual, as for Clay his first song was good but his second (Grease by Frankie Valley), while his vocals were good, his image was somewhat disastrous. Although Simon was way over the top on the criticism.

Reeka 05-08-2003 11:12 PM

Well,I stand by what I said earlier that: It will come down to Clay and Ruben. Clay is good, very good in fact, but I agree with Simon that he is really suited to Broadway---I think he could be a star on Broadway.

Rimjaw 05-10-2003 01:47 AM

I agree on both points. Next weeks episode should be interesting since unless Kim pulls off a miracle she'll be in the bottom two. Which means one of the dynamic duo will have to join her. Could hint at the outcome of the grand finals.

Ladyzekke 05-12-2003 09:48 PM

Well wonder what kind of songs they will have to sing tomorrow. I kinda have to agree that I think it will all come down to Ruben and Clay, because of their popularity, although I like Kimberly as well.....

Oh well, guess we'll find out on Wednesday. What do you think they should make them sing tomorrow? LOL, I'd find it funny as hell if they made em do rap ROTFL. I reckon Ruben and Kimberly could handle it, but just imagine Clay trying to do rap ROFLMAO!

Also, something tells me, dunno why, but sometime in the future I bet Barry Manilow will show up on American Idol LOL, and the contestants will have to sing his songs. Maybe not THIS AI, but ones in the future. But who knows, maybe he'll show up tomorrow, and it will be a "Manilo" night, if so, ROTFL, Clay will be in his element! Bet he could do a mean Copa Cabana!

Rod Stewart would also be another humorous one to hear them sing. Oh I'd give anything to hear Ruben sing Hot Legs ROTFL.

:D

Ziroc 05-13-2003 08:42 AM

Hah! My Wife also watches it.. I didn't even see last years..

I've watched a few eps.. that clay dude is... um. Homely. Notice how the make-up people and people that dress them keep trying to make clay look good, but it just ain't happening.. homely!!!!!

lol.. yeh, I'm evil! His hair reminds me of those old burt and ernie dolls hair just sticking up, and like its fake. :D :D :D :D about him being gay--I wouldn't doubt it. when Donna and I saw him, our 'gay-dar' went off.. (not saying this in an offending way guys) :D just funny..

I hope Ruben wins... He's good, and I like the sandwich! haha!

I Sit through this show so I can watch 24 afterwards! Jack kicks some ASS!

Timber Loftis 05-14-2003 10:03 AM

LOL at Ziroc. Y'know, my wife thinks he's kinda cute. Hmmm.... maybe that says something about me?

Ladyzekke 05-14-2003 09:16 PM

Boy they are sure milking the "dramatic pause for commercial" deal tonight

Ladyzekke 05-14-2003 10:25 PM

Well I guess Kimberly is out now, voted off. She was good too, but somebody had to be voted off, so.. I had a feelin it'd be her because it seems Clay and Ruben have gained way more press and are more popular. Well it's gonna get interesting now :D

Reeka 05-14-2003 10:27 PM

My prediction came true---it is down to Ruben and Clay. I really (not prejudice at all) think Ruben is the better singer. Well, we will find out next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. They are really milking this puppy for all its worth.

Sythe 05-21-2003 08:16 PM

RUBIN!!! RUBIN!!! RUBIN!!! RUBIN!!!

Ladyzekke 05-21-2003 08:51 PM

Well tonights the night, should know the winner pretty soon now, not incase they extended the show to two hours.

Probably Ruben yeah.

Ladyzekke 05-21-2003 09:19 PM

Well I guess it is going for two hours then.

Oooooooo, the anticipation! LOL. I'm gonna piss meself!!!!

Just kidding ROTFL http://www.wizardrealm.com/smilies/jackass.gif

Ladyzekke 05-21-2003 09:50 PM

Don't you just LURVE how Fox milks an extra 5 minutes out of each show by giving a 30-second preview right before commercial and a 30-second recap right after each commercial? It's like the network that is 90% "wait for what we'll show you." It's uterly laughable.

Rueben won. But, there were no losers last night. ;)

Dundee Slaytern 05-22-2003 12:20 PM

Darn, I was hoping for Clay to win. Oh well, at least the competitor was a good alternative.

Lady Blue03 05-22-2003 03:57 PM

Clays been my favorite since he sung his wild card song, and I was really upset when Ruben won by the what, 1300 vote difference? I mean shoot, Clay's got such an amazing voice *thinks of Mack the Knife*
My mom said theres some thing on the news that people are questioning the integrity of the votes, like maybe it was fixed or something, which i guess I probably wouldn't be surprised
Did you see how the announcer said "after this commercial break, we'll announce the winner. TWO commercial breaks later they did. lol. lying ass. I even said to myself, "Yeah, right, you mean 5 mins before the show is over". and I was right.

Clay was robbed, dammit, robbed!

Anyway, I heard Seacrest made a mistake. It was a 13000 difference.

Lady Blue03 05-25-2003 01:41 PM

Who cares if Ryan made a mistake.

He's sexy :D

Reeka 05-26-2003 09:57 PM

I just found out last night that Ruben won (I was in England last week). I was prejudiced because he is from Birmingham, but he was and consistantly good singer as was Clay. I knew it would be close and it was. From what they said on the news here, Ruben had alot of support in California, they really liked him out there. Maybe that tipped the scales.
