Just read a little blurb on AICN, that James Cameron is thinking about making another Alien movie. If he does I hope he complete ignores Alien 3 & 4
|
Good grief how many more times can Sigourney Weaver kill those things?
|
Didn't anyone tell him that sci-fi horror is "out"? Or did he actually sit all the way through "Jason X"?
If he really wants to make a movie that will be successful at this point in time, it looks like he should choose from the following genres: superhero, sleek action, supernatural thriller, or big-budget musical. On the other hand...it is his movie. However, I don't think another Alien movie would be terribly successful. |
*shrugs. Who knows... state of the art special effects and a good script might actually turn this into a good movie....

I am reserving judgement for now... It could potentially be good. I have doubts, but I am willing to wait and see. I liked the others in the series, so...

Since superhero films were mentioned (and on the topic of sucky movies)
I've been reading that the new Superman movie will have a few changes to the legend. It seems that this version of Superman has him gain his powers from his suit and thus they are not his natural abilities. The article I read also says that Lex Luthor will be a Kryptonian mad-scientist who wants to take over the earth. I think I'll be passing on that one... |

All the Alien movies were good except for that suckfest Resurection. What made all the Alien films so unique is that they had a different director for every installment, thus each movie had its own unique feel. Alien was suspense/horror, Aliens was slam-bang action, Alien3 was more on the philosophical side, I have no idea what Resurrection was trying to be. If Cameron is helming this than we can expect it to be similar to Aliens and lean towards the action side, not a bad thing of course. :D
|
oh wow, is the heroin is the same lady again? what her name again? so will the alien now appear on earth? In Resurrection they show it close to earth.
|
Its Ripley. And I heard rumors that it will involve an invasion of Earth.
|
I agree with Rimjaw, all three of the first Alien films were good, Resurrection was absolute suckage.
I'm willing to give a fourth the benefit of the doubt - but only if they finally let Ripley go and take a fresh look at the Alien universe. |
I could have sworn I read somewhere that Weaver said she would not do the fourth if it was set on Earth. This was a LONG time ago though (just after Res came out)

maybe they'll follow the arcade game Alien vs Predator. the Aliens attack earth and humans cannot contain them. then suddenly out of nowwhere the predator come and attack all the aliens and thus help save earth from then aliens. :D
what's wrong with Ripley? I kinda like her in the movies. |

Nothing wrong with Ripley, I just feel that they've played her story out. Look at Resurrection - how can they recover from that suckfest without disavowing it entirely, or perhaps doing a backtime story?
Plus Weaver is getting a little old for the role. |

I can imagine an Aliens vs Predator movie would suffer from a serious lack of dialogue.
