Just wondered if anyone had seen this, as it is on the box in 45minutes, and if someone replys I'll know whether to watch it or not!

Luvian 01-20-2003 04:21 PM

Not the best movie ever, but it's worth watching at least once.

johnny 01-20-2003 04:25 PM

I think we already had a thread about this movie just recently, and it didn't come out too good. Bad acting was only a small part of it.

Larry_OHF 01-20-2003 04:25 PM

Worth seeing once, if it doesn't cost too much. After seeing LotR...there can be no other movie based on fantasy that will ever compare.

Lavindathar 01-20-2003 04:32 PM

I'll give it a watch tonight, and post my thoughts later!

GokuZool 01-20-2003 06:39 PM

It's pretty average. As Larry said, it's great to watch once. It's fun.

Ok, so I watched. It wasnt brilliant was it?

The Computer graphics were quite cool, of the dragons, the skeleton mage and the BEHOLDER!

The acting was ok, the story was ok, but the ending was weird.

Ok, the Dragons Eye glows, Snail's grave becomes obsolete, and they turn into glitter. But where EXACTLY do they go?

LOL, it's a pretty stupid ending. I found it weird how Snails died early in the movie. (I think he did..)

I agree, the dragons were cool and so were the Beholders! Great stuff!

Lavindathar 01-20-2003 07:50 PM

Yeah, Snails is cool. It was cool how he died, took away the childish feeling.

I liked him chatting up the 234 year old Elf, after claiming he was an "old" 23!

Tancred 01-20-2003 08:15 PM

The Beholder was neat... but... well... couldn't they have USED it a bit more?!?

arion windrider 01-20-2003 09:23 PM

i think, snails was resurrected by ridley.. did anybody catch tom baker as the elf wizard... those who dont know who tom baker is, he was one of the original Doctor Who's, during the late 70's to mid/late 80's... also did anybody know what exactly ridley's profession will be after the ending??? sounds like he will be a mage or something.. any thoughts????

Billy Yank 01-21-2003 08:02 AM

"I found it weird how Snails died early in the movie."

You found it weird that the black sidekick died??? You must not watch many movies.

Lavindathar 01-21-2003 02:55 PM

Think he will become a Mage yeah!

slicer15 01-21-2003 05:37 PM

My friend had a dvd of this film and one of the outakes was when ridley was on his own at snail's grave and no red stone. In that ending nothing happened and snail stayed dead. Does anyone think this is better? I have mixed views, 'cos it's kinda cool that he lives again, but then there was no point in his sacrifice.

I just though it was pretty pointless. Why didn't they just keep him alive?

Lavindathar 01-22-2003 02:26 PM

He sacrified himself to give the scroll to Ridley. Had to die!

Plus, it made the movie seem less childlike!

Irongrinder 01-22-2003 05:33 PM

They shouldn't have made it seem childlike in the first place
Oh well, it was fun to watch it once, although I won't have to see it again.

AzRaeL StoRmBlaDe 01-22-2003 06:36 PM

This is THE worst movie of all time

There is no point writing comments like this if you cant be bothered to explain them.

GokuZool 01-22-2003 08:47 PM

Oh.. he sacrificed himself!

I saw it ages ago when it came out at the movies

That's why I can't remember much of it

The black sidekick always dies early. It's a Hollywood cliche.

Wulfere 01-23-2003 08:25 AM

OK...I actually paid to watch this movie in the theater. Argh.
It could have been so good, but they had no real plot and Jeramy Irons was about to start chewing the stage accouterments. Didn't you think his acting was a bit Over-the-top? Yes I saw Tom Baker and thought "What the heck is Doctor Who doing in this movie? LOL.

hummmm. you have obviously never seen "Plan 9 from Outer Space". It's concidered to be the worst movie of all time.

It was the magic of the Dragon's Eye, that resurected Snails. They turned to glitter, when they were transported to thier next adventure. It's a very good opening for another movie. But will probably never be made.

Tom Baker was very dissapointed in the movie. He doens't work often, and the script must 'speak' to him for an interest to be provoked. I thought his part was the best acted anyway.

Gabrielles blades 08-29-2003 12:06 PM

i thought it was a fun movie, nothing awe inspiring like LOTR, but all in all a nice lil movie.

That said, i think the plot was kinda whack.

So....He gets the great staff of dragon command or whatnot...its stolen by evil....he destroys it...the day is saved...right!
ok, so that basically means he *aided* the evil side by trying to do good and good managed to win despite his meddling. After all, it seems as though the queen would have been able to win the battle much more easily if the evil guy hadnt managed to get a bunch of dragons to aid him.

Gangrell 09-02-2003 07:19 PM

I didn't think it was very good to tell you the truth. The way the actors played the characters were to modern day, they wouldn't talk like they did, but thats what happens when you blow your budget on graphics and not good actors. Plus they had a total of three different monsters in the movie, now that did suck
