Now that we know that everyone likes Harrison Ford and Mel Gibson, what about the real bad actors? Or bad performances?

Anyone who saw the movie Dungeons & Dragons must agree that it would deserve an oscar for worst acting. Jeremy Irons and Marlon Wayans really made me regret spending 14,- DM for such crap!

Sir ReGiN 07-31-2002 04:42 PM

I'll have to say that the latest example of bad acting I've seen is Sylvester Stallone in "Get Carter", he acts (and talks) like he's four years old in the entire movie. Utter crap.
Oh and of course Bruce Willis in "Bandits" was pretty shitty.
Then there's the entire cast of "Plan 9 from outer space" but that's a whole nother story :D

Jorath Calar 08-01-2002 04:32 AM

Lets see... actors I think should be locked in portable toilets and set on fire.

Freddy Prinze jr.
Kevin Costner
Van Damme
Steven Seagal (or what ever the idiots name is)
Hugh Grant (except in The Bridget Jones Dairies, he was okey there)
Alec Baldwin (anyone with the lastname baldwin now that I think of it)
The Wayans degenerates

You know, just reading the title of this thread made me think the exact same thing. The lead character's acting was also bloody awful.

debiler 08-01-2002 02:56 PM

True words.

Do some of you know those old "italo-western" movies starring Bud Spencer and Terence Hill? They're quite funny, but - HELL! - you could put my dad in one of the movies and noone would see the difference.

Jorath Calar 08-01-2002 04:58 PM

Here are some that I wish had had mothers whose medicalplans had included abortion

John Travolta (except for maybe Pulp Fiction... anyone seen Battlefield Earth?)
Richard Gere
Nick Nolte
Gerard Deparpfffrrrtt(fartnoise)

johnny 08-02-2002 05:21 AM

Worst of them all must be Steven Seagall. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a joke too, his accent alone makes me barf all over my remote. Jacky Chan can also better stay in Hong Kong.

Moni 08-16-2002 06:50 PM

Don't forget Keiffer Sutherland & Pauly Shore!
Don't you wish we could (forget them) lol

LOL, my Maths teacher is Mrs. Baldwin...

B1ade 10-08-2002 01:16 PM

Have to agree with everyone's assessments, although to be fair, people don't watch Jackie Chan for his amazing acting skiils-he kicks ass and does his own stunts after all.

The worst is definitely Arnold Schwarzenegger, or maybe Val Kielmer (from the Acting School for Bricks). Jeremy Irons also sucks, as does John Travolta (although I didn't put myself through the horror that apparently was Battlefield: Earth). Also that guy who plays Wesley in Star Trek: The Next Generation (soory, don't know his name)- he is very annoying.

Jorath Calar 10-08-2002 04:48 PM

Actually I was fascinated by Battlefield Earth, too see an actor self destruct his career over and over again on the screen was just amazing... not to mentions fun in an odd sort of way... :D

Lord Starshadow 10-08-2002 09:24 PM

Kevin Costner is terrible in everything he does except sports movies (I liked Tin Cup and Bull Durham), for some reason. I'm also with B1ade: I hate Val Kilmer with a vengence. Action movie stars (Arnold, Steven Seagal, Van Damne, etc.) are by definition terrible. Only Stallone managed to put forth a great effort: Rocky.

True_Moose 10-08-2002 11:57 PM

Keanu Reeves

Angelousss 10-09-2002 12:56 AM

Rob Schnieder, he can be funny in supporting roles, but for god sake don't give that man his own movie. no good can come of that

Paladin2000 10-09-2002 01:15 AM

IMHO some actors are good in some of the movies and sucks in other movies. I can't really recall any particular actor which totally sucks on all the movies.

I kindda agree Arnold Schwarzenegger was great it Conan, but he sucked in all the so called action-comedies.

John Travolta was ok in Pulp Fiction but that's the only one I can think of.

Personally I love to hate Tom Cruise and Michael J Fox
*ducks*

Are you kidding, the only movie he managed to pull of without killing every lifeform of boredom was JFK, and thats just because the director is a genius

Aviehenda 10-09-2002 01:30 PM

Woody Allen..I rest my case

I have always liked Jeremy Irons and have always counted him among my favourite actors, but to be honest I cant forgive him for Dungeons and dragons 2And the let the rivers run redddddddd!!" is the worst line he delivered in that film (or something along those lines!) and i'll never forgive him for it! NEVER!!

Timber Loftis 10-10-2002 06:41 PM

Wesley Snipes
Bill Pullman (who can't make me believe the line "Hi I'm Bill Pullman")
Bill Paxton (except in Frailty)
Pauly Shore
Jim Carey *ducks* (except in Batman & Liar Liar)
Nicholas Cage (can only do the wierd screwed up guy thing - VERY limited)
Keaunu (of course)
Madonna (great at lots of stuff - NOT acting)
Arnie (who has gotten better with age - much work still needed)
Wesley Snipes again
Earnest from the Earnest movies
David Schimmer (though the rest of the friends cast does okay)

the new guy in Law & Order Criminal Intent - I don't know if it's his fault (he was also the Alien in MiB) or the writers of that horrible "looks at you and knows your inner secrets" character that I hate hate hate.

Ah hell, Wesley Snipes and Bill Pullman once again.

Brad Pitt gets an honorable mention but was removed from the list after FIGHT CLUB.

Yes, but I have to reiterate this because he sucks SO MUCH!

KAR_MOD1 10-11-2002 10:50 PM

Paul Reubenfeld aka "PeeWee Herman"
I rest my case.
..and let's not get started about the movie theater scandal :D

I think he overdid it in Lost boys though...(the son of an already popular actor trying to prove himself kind of overdoing it). Just my opinion

Kudos to KAR_MOD1 for adding Paul Ruebens to the list LOL.
If you can take him as PeeWee Herman (or the Hamburger dude in the Cheech & Chong Movie "Nice Dreams") then you've really got guts LOL!
I give him a lot of credit for his role in "Blow" though...normal voice, normal persona for the character he played...it was a pleasant surprise to see him actually play a character well!

Jim Carey- check!
Rob Schneider- check!
Woody Allen-check!

I like Kevin Costner! (Do you think me wicked?) ;)

Timber Loftis 10-14-2002 04:11 PM

I concur that Paul Ruebens was pretty good in Blow. In fact, his acting was second only to that of J. Depp's hair, which should have gotten an Oscar for its supporting role. :D ;)

Jim 10-14-2002 04:14 PM

Bill Paxton was good as Hudson in Aliens, so I've nothing against the guy.

John Travolta was very good in Pulp Fiction, but that's mainly from an absolutley genius script rather than anything else.

I second the statement about Jackie Chan being good for his stunts and skills rather than his acting skills, so he shouldn't be in the worst 10.

Sylvester Stallone was f***ing appalling in "Driven". Anyone seen that? That is my all time worst movie, next to D&D of course.

Thoran 10-15-2002 06:17 PM

Dude Where's my Car was indeed close to the top of the "Aztek of Movies" list. (for you non-americans the Aztek is without a doubt the ugliest car ever to have driven off an assembly line)

More Mindless Drivel...

- Who Fingered Freddie (although I must admit to laughing a lot during that movie... it was soo BAD)
- Xanadu - Walked out in the middle of that one
- Scary Movie - Some like it but I don't recall laughing once the whole movie... just stupid adolescent humor (which usually I like :D )
- Blair Witch Project - Scarry? NO... just laughably lame
- Howard the Duck - who ever said ducks were funny... didn't see this movie.

oops... just realized this was a bad actor thread...

- the kid who played Annakin in the Phantom Menace
- the kid who played Annakin in Attack of the Clones

I thought Rob Schnieder was great in Deuce Bigalow. And you guys have named some pretty good actors here. Kiefer Sutherland is great in Young Guns and 24 has been airing in OZ for a few weeks now and he's pretty good in that and if you want to see a good movie with Kevin Costner in it watch 13 days. It's a fantastic movie.
